I appreciate you taking the time to make the video. The oe case gaskets are readily available from multiple sources and work great. Silicone/rtv is ok in a manual transmission as you've done but should never be used in a Hydro. On the 10 pinion differential. Those are not at all common in the first place and the spring to make it Limited Slip is available on the aftermarket now. You'd have the benefit of both wheels driving and be able to turn without damaging anything. Thanks!!
Hey man! Great video, now I know what side if the trans case goes up when disassembling it. Will need it some day to put a new gasket on. Also some info for the wheel horse fan. Input shaft seal #100442 Brake shaft seal #100441 And yes sand the axle shafts first that helps a lot, clean it very good, then remove old seals and put new ones on, And don't forget to put some anti-seize on the shaft and key way.
it looks like you could do that 10 pinion the same as doc sprocket did a no weld locker on a 2300, i think that's the right one, he used cut pieces of steel and fit them between the pinion gears so they were locked, great video, my brother has a WH b80 with the 4 sp uni-drive, he needs to replace seals and outer axle bearings on it, this helped me get a good look at it before taking it apart
darkside0914 maybe it was a 633a doc sprocket did? I just did a 2300 and it has the same differential as a peerless 820. But you are correct you could probably put some pieces of metal in there and lock it up good
Always did wonder what was inside !!. Our WH 800 3 Speed lost 3rd gear !!- never stripped it to find what had gone peetong- what do you reckon would be the issue
I think your 10-pinion LSD is known as a Torsen style like an Eaton Tru Trac very cool to see these in tractors but I guess not aggressive enough, I've never personally used one. I always cry inside a bit at the irreversibility of Lincoln lockers but when ya need traction ya gotta do what ya gotta do😁. Anybody know if the Detroit locker technology made it into these transaxles? They are perfect IMO.
I know this an older video but for tge unidrive 8sp is there a preferred method to sealing up the fill hole in order to run it in mud mine for some reason fits real loose and just falls right out anyways
I've got a 1979 (I believe) Wheel Horse model C-81 lawn tractor, with the 8 speed transmission (with high & low range). The transmission shifts gears ok, but the high-low gear range lever is stuck in the "high" range. I was wondering what I could do (without disassembling the transmission) that might get the lever to move into the "low" range. I'm not sure what's causing the high-low range lever to stick. Rust, maybe?
My only suggestion is to spray the hi/lo shifter where it meets the trans axle case with penetrant oil once a day for a week. Jack it up and put a pair of vise grips onto the shifter as close to the case as possible, spin the input pulley by hand while trying to forcefully shift it from hi to low, Try this in every gear including neutral, if that doesnt free it up there are internal issues
You made it look so simple. They look extremely heave duty on the inside. Do you still have a 27" tsls? They'd look good on that transaxle. Got any tractors that has a peerless 2300 in it. One question you may be able to answer. I got my 820 out of a murray gt Widebody. What is the one axle longer than the other? It messes with the offset of the rims and tires. Didn't notice it on the murray but it looks like crap on the Jacobsen.
Hillbilly Offroading it is actually pretty simplex I have a set of 26in tsls but not 27s. I have a 28in tire that will be going onto my wheel horse that this axle is going into. I do have a dynamark with a 2300 and I just had a tractor dropped off this past weekend with a 2300 so I will be doing a locking video on that too. I’m not entirely sure as to your 820 predicament I haven’t had any offset issues with them
I have a 1961 551 suburban with a uni-drive and I want to replace all the seals and bearings ? Is there a company that would have them all and do you have a comprehensive list of part numbers ?
@@redzz02 I live in grove city about 60 miles north of ya I'm building a mud mower out of a wheelhorse and was wanting to lock the axle and your vidio helps alot do you know anything about pully swaps I'm wanting to get alittle bit more speed I'm putting 27 inch atv tires on the rear
I hope this video helps some of you disassemble, lock/service, and reassemble you wheel horse 8 speed transaxles

Thanks for the information!
Glad to see a good vidoe that's detailed. Also a video to trust as your projects speak for themselves.

Jose M. Great info! I have the list of seals somewhere I just need to find them, the axle seals the only one I had on hand at the time
