    I can't get over how great your chateau looks. I think you should write about your journey from struggling and sleep deprived to duvet dust and a mattress in the sky. Your struggle is real and I love that you don't sugarcoat it. For those that have wanted to give up, you are an example of why we must hold on to the tiniest desire to push on. Kudos to you.

    I would love a days in the life type book of your exploits in Paris. A favorite of mine is Adam Gopniks’ “Paris to the moon” because it includes real life essays of his time there. As busy as you are, I’m sure you have many stories to include that would be fun to read!

    Every sports person in Australia writes an autobiography by the time then "retire" at age 30+ years. I personally like autobiographical books about English speaking people who stay in France. Their books are how they adjust to the French way of life, with lots of funny and / or sad / or good stories. "Almost French" written by Sarah Turnbull is one such a book and I think I read that is sold, world wide, about 400,000 copies!

    • @JaySwanson
      @JaySwanson  5 років тому +2

      I think my struggle revolves most around structure and ensuring it's got a meaningful angle

    • @paulhowlett8151
      @paulhowlett8151 5 років тому

      @@JaySwanson "A meaningful angle"... Yes a focal point. Another book I read was the story of chance meeting in Paris between an American woman and a Frenchman. She returned to the United States, and the French man wrote 7 letters to her, and she did not reply to any of his love letters. Twenty years later she made a connection with the same Frenchman. They are now living in France somewhere happy with a family. The Angle of the Book she wrote are the seven letters which are reproduced throughout the book. I do not know how many copies this book sold. I am sure that you will come up with a good structure and meaning.

    Jay - I lived as an expat in the States for almost 40 years and for me the strangeness was a creative plus. But the US is so diverse that there are plenty of people who did not all see the same tv shows or sing the same songs, whereas in France and Europe the populus is much more homogenous, although Paris actually should be unique again with so many expats from so many places living there.

    I love your daily vlog and enjoy it enormously. I also worry like so many others when you post late. Having said that, though, I think taking a break is good for you, and going to India is the perfect opportunity to take a break. There is so much to see and do, and while filming is probably going to be important for you, the editing may just be too much. Against my best and selfish interest, I think a break is good for you.

    i love these kinda videos, just wholesome talkin-to-the-camera type of vloggin. as far as non-fiction goes, i think a lot of emphasis is put on this misguided notion that writing about ourselves is a process to be left for later years. however, i think a lot of creators who do want to engage in narrative non-fiction project a fear of it which stems from a false narrative surrounding aged wisdom, etc. i mean, in a way, you are already writing this story through your vlogs which we all find so appealing. obviously, write what’s right, but i think experience is valid regardless of time the you’ve had to reflect on them. or absent of the ones which are yet to come!

    • @JaySwanson

      There's no specific danger to be worried about. Protests in Paris are somewhat common. Just avoid where they happen (that is if they do) and you should be good to go.

    • @JaySwanson
      @JaySwanson  5 років тому +1

      Like they said above, nothing to worry about. They shut down those stops on the metro and are very concerned with safety in general, so you'd be hard pressed to wander into a protest without knowing well in advance. Paris is generally a very safe city.
