Purdue fan here. In 2000, I remember Izzo saying he was really rooting for Gene to get to a final 4. That always stuck with me as a younger man and Ive been a huge Izzo fan ever since. The conference will be lesser after he's gone. What a great coach and human! Boiler up!
I'm a Spartandawg and have always bled green and white. Thank you for the kind words about MSU and Izzo. Matt Painter is a great a coach and will definitely be inducted into the HOF. In my eyes he has always done it correctly and has transitioned not only himself but Purdue as a top tier program in the country and at the top of the B1G. Matt does more with less..........best coach in B1G
One of the classiest people to coach, ever. He might not have "the talent" this year, but he gets them to compete. There is a reason he is the winningest B1G coach ever. A lot of respect for Izzo.
The officials put Edey on the free-throw line for several little touch fouls. Combine this with poor mid-range shooting from MSU, and some defensive lapses giving open 3-point looks to the Purdue guards and you only have a 6-point loss? Purdue was lucky to get this game. I won't be surprised if they bow out of the tournament early again this year.
