    Play this at 1.25 speed and listen attentively. They make a compelling case for Pt which-- unlike other undervalued commodities, like wheat or a fortiori uranium -- you can store easily yourself and have no counter party risk. It's likely a 4 to 6 bagger from here and there's nothing to stop it from going much higher. You don't need to find a pure play miner -- there are loads of undervalued gold and silver miners -- just buy physical Pt as a great investment, inflation hedge, and as a store of wealth outside the financial system.

      Do you think psysical platinum would outperform the gold & silver stocks if the price of the metal goes up?

    • @aoeulhs

      @@ResourceTalks I think it certainly could -- look at Rhodium -- but its value to investors is primarily as a store of wealth and inflation hedge with a considerable upside. I have gold and silver stocks that I think will be fifty baggers or better but if my broker goes belly up...

    I swapped 80% of my silver coins to platinum coins at a 33/1 ratio a few years ago...Just waiting for platinum to get going and achieve parity with gold. I would not touch any platinum producer personally as South Africa is simply a terrible place to invest. Been there looking at some deals and felt in danger all the time. Country is a mess.

      What do you think the main risks (ifs) are here?

    • @trailguy
      @trailguy Рік тому

      @@ResourceTalks thanks for asking. I went back to the video to see if I could find exactly what I was referring to, but it’s a very long video, so I’ll just tell you my general reluctance to putting lots into platinum. First, it lacks gold’s history as a monetary metal, and I rank gold highly largely because I expect that central banks will revalue it much higher. This theory has been strengthened lately as the BRICS nations continually create bilateral monetary agreements, weakening the dollar, which currently is 60% of the worlds currency and when nations require fewer dollars to hold in reserve, they will come home. There are lots of reasons I favor gold. The big question about platinum’s future value is how it will do against palladium. Since almost half of mined platinum goes to auto manufacturers, it’s value hinges on how much it will be demanded compared to palladium. And since palladium is largely a Russian commodity, it’s future availability hinges largely on political outcomes involving war and political divisions. This certainly might mean palladium becomes less available and platinum is used much more, but if relations/trade normalizes with Russia it might cause platinum to flop. Please tell me if I’m missing something, I’m interested!

    • @trailguy
      @trailguy Рік тому

      @Al Marcel yep, it’s much newer to the tradition of valuing it as a store of wealth. That’s why I trust it less. I absolutely agree that it has fantastic potential, I just don’t have any anticipation of central banks uniting to revalue ie much higher, but I actually think the chances are very great of this happening to gold. My biggest fear is that it’s made illegal for individuals to hold it, where I don’t think that’s a fear with platinum, and sure, platinum very well may spike and it will be great to hold it or just to own a sprott account full of it.

      @@ResourceTalks the FT did a great article on Hydrogen, but there was no mention of a platinum been a used in Hydrogen production.
      You can’t use Hydrogen fuel in Cars because the Fuel destroys the engines over a short space of time.
      This is why Toyota gave up on the idea and moved to development of Solid State batteries 🔋
      Tesla and other manufacturers use 7.5 to 25 ounces of Silver in the battery packs of Lithium ion technology EV Vehicles.
      However I went and asked the AI and itS said Platinum is used in Hydrogen production in a process of Steam Reforming (along with gas) due to is inert nature to break down molecules.
      10 to 30 grams of platinum are used to produce 1 tonne of Hydrogen fuel.
      The FT article said that lorries and trains 🚂 could use Hydrogen fuel due to fixed routes for refilling stations.

    Fairly underwhelming content. Not a very strong case being made here. The platinum to gold ratio has been falling for over a decade. Platinum has done well the last few months. The talk around hydrogen was strange. "Green" hydrogen implies green energy to make it. No discussion on where that might come from. Japan's nexgen HTTP nuclear plants might be the solution. Also I didn't hear how platinum was going to outperform uranium, gold and silver.

      For disclosure purposes: I'm heavy in silver and uranium. I would like to get into bigger cash position pretty soon. I would also like to buy oil and gold if I get a little bit more of a dip. I'm not negative on platinum and would like to pick up a little at some point.

      I don't think the case for platinum is as flashy as uranium. There's also big "ifs" in the story as well. It's also hard to see if the stocks are undervalued, too, because there aren't really any platinum stocks.
