This Norton was actually Factory built to what was called 'Special Spec' at Bracebridge. This being the earlier pre-1960 version of a Norton Model 99SS. The customer specifying what 'go-faster' goodies the bike was to have. So most likely the cylinder head had a twin carb conversion along with High Compression pistons and possibly a K2FC magneto. The cylinder head on this bike is from the 1956 to 57 period and probably wears the casting number T2225. The correct head would most likely have been a 22707 casting with larger inlet valves and more finning on the top. With all the special parts fitted this bike would easily have done 100mph.
What a lovely, honest machine 👍
It sure is!
