My parents had a BIG sable GSD. She was a loveball, but my husband was so afraid of her. He ended up getting a nasty headache when we were visiting, and my mother tucked him in on the couch and gave him some medicine. She didn't leave his side, and when he woke up he was being licked in the face. Wonderful dogs.

What an unbelievably handsome dog. Great coloring, healthy coat. What I like about him is that he looks adorable with the baby and menacing at every other time. His presence alone should be an active enough deterrent.
My personal view has always been that if someone sees my GSDs and still thinks it's wise to break in, then the dogs get to do whatever the hell they want to do and I shouldn't need to call them off. Our property is fenced and gated. If you don't have an invite, then the only way to get on our property is to scale an 8 foot fence or 6 foot gate, and the territorial GSDs should get free reign to take it from there. If you can't get back over the fence before they reach you, then oh well. People think I'm mean when I say that but I think it's meaner to try to rob me. Perspective.
