As an English major, this skit made my day. I'm a bit of a weirdo, in the sense that I love English grammar and punctuation a little too much. Thank you, Frank!
Oh I understand that. Very random, but when I was 18 I wrote an essay with 1000 words in school and I only had one mistake and that was a , too much. Sry I needed to flex with that because it's otherwise very unnecessary by now. (By the way, I'm German, that essay was in German. If I made any mistakes in this comment, it's because English is not my 1. language)
As a writer, I find this incredibly funny. As a German... too. It's a cliché that we sound aggressive, emotionless or cold. (This was already the case with the Lufthansa example recently) We are the nation of poets and thinkers!!!!!! 🤣 We are really nice and humorous people; Maybe you just met the wrong Germans. 😇🥰 Hum ... now I need a quote so that I have included as many punctuation marks as possible... @@HeyItsQuayshawn Yeah, I hear that a lot about people in Scandinavia. Some people even say that about themselves. They see periods as calm. So I always take out ALL the exclamation points in messages and comments to French people. It had never occurred to me to think of punctuation as communication in that way differentiated by language up until that point.
0:43 "If you don't use !, you're gonna come across cold and emotionless and / or german" It's actually funny because I (as a German) was thinking like "do I even use ! in e-mails at all?
