There is a considerable misunderstanding our friend has about the difference between thoughts and action - Zizek might find the notion that there exists a wide spectrum of genders to be confusing and surreal, and find that notion ridiculous, but his own personal views don’t make him right-wing, it is only with his actions that he is shown to be left-wing. Zizek wants people to have liberty to live their own lives, free from the infringements upon them forced by other people. The fact he might think these people are just engaging in a silly social construction, that is not relevant to whether he is respecting their freedom to live their lives or not. Conservatives spend their time actively going after people a part of groups such as non-binary people, and I find that very disturbing, because it is so controlling - they are not content with just letting people be, if they want to say there are 32 genders, we can find that notion bizarre and just move on, but that’s not what the right does, they incessantly mock, and insert themselves into other people’s lives, with the clear intent to hurt them, and the underlying notion to change them. I find that mentality to be what really makes me see conservatism as an ideology of controlling people, and leftism, not as viewing people’s lives as less surreal to you, but just respecting that this is their own life, and leaving them alone - that is the true nature of leftism in this case, where you have liberty if you just do not interfere with their lives, and just let them live in peace, even if they are a bit different from us.
"they incessantly mock, and insert themselves into other people’s lives, with the clear intent to hurt them, and the underlying notion to change them" sounds like your talking about modern leftists

I am often accused of being a conservative right-winger because I oppose political correctness and "woke" ideology. Aside from the numerous problems of ideological positions breeding their own antagonists, the PC/Woke ideology demands a kind of duty to adopt some vague set of "moral values", and to act l upon them -at will- during social interactions. It requires that one holds in place a mind-policeman that will warn you not to violate the code. Not only is this psychologically impossible but to attempt to maintain this only produces more neurosis and deepens the ideological delusion, tensions and strife with others.

Just found this guy on YT recently. I think I'd rather get acquainted with his ideas by reading a book, not these video clips. Any recommendations for where to start? Quite a bibliography he has...
Sublime object of ideology is seen by many as his masterpiece. It’s very heavy on theory and quite a difficult read. In defence of lost causes and in defence of lost causes are a bit more enjoyable and easily digestible imo
Sorry *the courage of hopelessness
The better you understand Hegel, the better you understand Zizek.
Look up Zizek RSA. It is an animated clip that was from one of his talks.
how is zizek so likeable hahaha
Conservative humor sounds outright painfully unfunny, if not a contradiction.
Only if you don't understand what conservative means. It'a not evangelical or puritan. Just not liberal/woke. A.K.A. back when we were allowed to make jokes without worrying about whose feelings may get hurt.
@@perry9812 yeah but you just come across as though you’re trying hard, and you come as a result, very stupid. All conservative jokes are “duhhhh attack helicopter duhh” XD #Triggered
Tyler is wrong, Slav doesn't have a right wing SOH, he has more of genuine anarchist SOH. I say genuine because the so-called anarchists around now have also transmogrified into the humorless joke left Tyler is referring. just awful - harmful too.
take a shot everytime he swipes his nose
Zizek is a genuinely dangerous individual because he's not a humour less ideology. My hat off to you sir! I don't agree but I certainly respect the man.
i dont understand how the "modern" left and the liberals merged. liberal right wing fit much better.
at the same time modern right is ultra conservative. this breaks my mind.
True. For most of human history it was the other way around.
Comfort with sexual jokes just seems to represent a different axis rather then a left/liberal/right split.
Can we really call nations like Saudi Arabia liberal or left wing because they are prudish about sex jokes like the "SJW" internet crowd are?
Rightwingers are all like Jedi. Particulars. Wanting a special deal. Zizek is everything but that ...
Right wing means wanting less government.
@@perry9812 wrong
@@perry9812 that’s so insanely wrong, what?
>The crisis will hi us
Well, he was right.
The last sentence he said. what I meant is I just trying to complicate things. Zizek

Are we happy?
So if we are not,why do we need more money.
So first lets get happy and then we can decide together if we need more money or less.
why are we not happy?
because 1) we are alienated, 2) we have no time to be happy! we need to work hard for the rich
maybe at this moment we are unable to become happy, so the system is to be changed? "lets get happy" is unrealistic statement in all cases (it reminds me of advices to depressed people) - happiness doesn't work like that, and pretending to be happy worsens the conditions
only a socioeconomic change can make us happy
we need revolution
"decide together if we need money"
it is the opposite of class struggle and socialism, it is class collaboration and corporatism - economic conservatism
if I had to decide together with a rich man how much do I need to live and even compromise (he doesn't need to compromise with anyone) - I will still be poor and he will still be rich
The strife for happiness* , which as such is determined and defined by society, which is founded on religious tinkink 💭 , hasn't solved a damn ting ever since.

There are two kinds of people: people who have a sens of humor and people who don't. No the Left, no the Right.
Tell the ghost of Lenny Bruce about how good the conservative “sense of humor” is
Where can I get those chairs
Hell
I am often accused of being a conservative right-winger because I oppose political correctness and "woke" ideology. Aside from the numerous problems of ideological positions breeding their own antagonists, the PC/Woke ideology demands a kind of duty to adopt some vague set of "moral values", and to act l upon them -at will- during social interactions. It requires that one holds in place a mind-policeman that will warn you not to violate the code. Not only is this psychologically impossible but to attempt to maintain this only produces more neurosis and deepens the ideological delusion, tensions and strife with others.
hUmOrLeSs lEfT
okay zizek we're here to talk about things that matter, directly
The guy is literally just argumenting from personal experience. From my personal experience the left wing friends I have are compassionate but we joke still about everything brutally. Sadly there are people in the spot light who have to submit to liberal performative political correctness when they make silly jokes. I think of perhaps socialism done left. He’s a good lefty market socialist boi but recently got screenshots from discord saying things he obviously doesn’t mean but is saying these are the other sides arguments and look how stupid it is we laugh at it because we laugh at them. The joke isn’t racism the joke is the stupidity of racists and so on.
The joke is you.
Perry
Yes but you smell of peepeepoopoo
the interviewer is so insufferable
Right wing doesn't have humor. Left wing is inherently comedic.
What's with these chairs?
1:27 half rotten feces and potatoe
This is a problem solved by the political compass! Zizek is left, but he is not too much libleft
What a ridiculous essentialism from Cowen
only joke here is those chairs
Saddam was a feminist compared to Iraq's colonizers.
Lol. Perfect answer: This is a Left wing sense of humour.
Wrong. Bad jokes generally focus on something being an object to take the piss out of, generally right wing comedians.. racist, sexism etc. Whilst Left wing comedians make jokes about the situations... the better right wing comedians do that too. Just so few good ones. Probably because they don't understand the absurdity of it all.
yashicat5 jokes can be about anything. There are no “ bad “ jokes. Only jokes you or I don’t find funny
modern leftits are racist and sexist
Right wing memes are funnier than left wing memes because the right isn’t as afraid of stepping on toes, much like Zizek
Nah you Just Not afraid of punching down. But Bootlicker never punching Up. Now Off to gulag
Tbh most Bernie meme pages were on fire this year
@Swett lol, the Daily Shoa ripped off not only the name but the style of it's namesake and then accused Chapo of ripping them off. It's plagarism all around
It's true, I like dark humour and the left doesn't do dark humour so much anymore. It's all supposed to be wholesome and good for your mental health, I like comedy that isn't afraid to mock learning disabilities and this is coming from someone who has autism.
Except the ca. 800 toes of Jesus kept in churches throughout the world.
He gets to the point at 08:24
TLDW?: hes just trying to complicate things.
Interlocutor does not understand clearly. Communists, which Zizek is not a bolshevik supporter, considered themselves conservative. Right and left does not mean "conservative" and it doesnt even mean all the same things to every person. Zizek is of course correct this is left wing humor. Sense of humor also are not confined by left or right ideology.
Well, my man is from the Balkans, pesky westerners are obviously going to be left aghast at how he is capable of the jokes despite being a leftist. The problem of humour is not leftism, it is western leftists.
why is this guy so desperate to put a label on Zizek
Right wing Humor based on Superiority. Left wing on humilation
I lost a brain cell listening to this
Žižek was right. They _did_ get him reelected. 😉
Ever seen a right wing stand-up comedian?....I haven't ...in my experience right wingers have a lousy sense of humor..not funny at all
You think comedians announce where they stand politically? But you can guess from the type of humor they have. If they criticize PC culture you can guess where they stand. And that's pretty much all the good comedians.
@@perry9812 i wouldnt run those odds. george carlin criticized soft language and this man was not a conservative
Now it has
What the hell is right wing humor? how is this humor restricted in the left? these two words lump in too many things that get people into an unnecessary divisive mindset....humor does not belong to a political ideology!....political correctness is about trying to be the most empathetic and fair but it can be manipulated to get social brownie points...free speech is about feeling free and responsible to take your own actions and dealing with the consequences wether good or bad...its good in that it can help clear things up when things get off the rails, but it can be manipulated into insult jabs thrown when trying to make a point about practicality, therefore coming off as a half-truth... it's about balance... people argue about the radical extremes and think everyone associating itself with the left or right arent nuanced at all...Jesus!
It's minion images with racist quotes.
Come one, the left has no humour today, they are offended by everything
@@cdread2187 Yet every time someone asks for the right of using their preferred gendered bathroom, you people throw a fit on Fox News. But sure, we're offended by everything.
@@cdread2187 I think I understand where you're coming from, but...youre confusing the left with progressives on the radical extremes that are looking for attention, because they cant land on a well defined problem while also offering a solution....the concept of left is about assuring proper balance in social structures... i can say the same about the right...like the right overcomplains about the left in a way that seeks to justify its wrongdoings...but I would then be generalizing, because in reality I am talking about the extreme right...so we always end up hating a side because we argue from their strawman version
