I honestly expected it to be better than people were giving it credit for. People talk shit about mobile games like we're still in an era where mobile games are Candy Crush and Flappy bird and fuckin Raid Shadowlegends. Every single hoyoverse game is a triple A game beyond most triple A studios and produce content 4 times more frequently than FFXIV and with both quality and quantity matching. You might see those as an exception, but i see it as what any mobile game is actually capable of.

Im happy this isn't just a 1:1 run of CT even if it's very similar. It'll be interesting to see how the influence of 11 years of FF14 will affect what's done with this game if they could "start over" now with the knowledge they currently have.
im concerned about some design decisions that take away from some of the gameplay. so far i'm impressed but seeing this crystal tower content has me concerned that instead of making interesting design decisions that they are just going to remove certain features from fights. For example in the atomos fight typically the trick was that with 24 people you split into 3 groups and have at least 4 people on a platform that removes the barrier of another teams atomos so they could damage it. In this one that has been completely removed when it was reduced to an 8 man instance completely making the fight even more trivial than it already is. I feel they could have done something with the adds spawning or create some sort of rotating buff where only players with a certain buff can stand on the platform forcing players to switch out. Maybe something along the lines where the first four get a debuff, but they have to kill an add to change the debuff so it wears off, but after a time the debuff prevents them from being counted as on the platform unless it's dispelled. This way you kill the adds to the debuff begins its timer until it dissipates and in the meantime the other half of the group hop on the platform.
7:10 I noticed a visual bug where the water is being drawn in front of the magic effect surrounding the atmos, but it should be behind it. It's probably caused by both the water and the magic being semi-transparent. Game engines don't like it when you stack multiple semi-transparent things in front of each other, it can often cause visual bugs. The water doesn't look transparent but it's probably meant to be.
it seems like the mobile devs consider how quickly crystal tower bosses die now as the norm. cause bosses like behemoth die so quickly then they did back in ARR they skip mechanics. edit: i do know this is obviously a beta so maybe things will change in release if it becomes 24 man
kinda nuts that it seems like the whole ARR game is available in the beta. Makes me wonder if they removed the lock of your starting city being based on your starting class based on what I was seeing in a different video where a marauder started in Ul'Dah.
@Moneymaker864 sounds like they may have gutted some of the early storyline then. What about guild locations for job quests? Are they still in their respective cities? How would a marauder do their job quests if they can't even get to their guild until around level 15?

The Crystal Tower is required in order to progress in the MSQ. They said plan to the make MSQ soloable. Can they make trust work with 24 player raid or will they change Crystal Tower to a 8 player raid like what mobile version is doing right now?

Like, why you guys play MASSIVE MULTIPLATER ONLINE games if you want to play it solo without interacting with other players? Go play Witcher or something. People like you already killed open world pvp, now you want to remove other players from your experience whatsoever. I say go and do the stupid raid with other players, it doesn't require you to speak to anyone or follow any tactics, this content is as casual as it gets. Is that really a problem for you?
I wonder how’s BRD and SMN. Deciding which one to main when this one gets released. I played the vanilla ARR and was a bard main but I noticed they reworked the SMN.

it appears to be a press and swipe type button interaction. press the associated button and while holding it a bigger circle appears and you swipe in the direction of the circle that the ability you want to use it on. From other interactions you could possibly just tap the smaller button in the bottom right for buttons that only have two abilities but seems for buttons that have more you have to use the swipe motion. This is just my observations however and may not be accurate to how the buttons actually work.
I am not sure how will they incorporate the 30+ skills (Buttons to click) in the Mobile version. Because what I like about the the PC version (Original version) are the complex rotations that you have to master while dodging and doing the mechanics. Thats the most challenging part about FFXIV that I love the most because its pushing me beyond my limit. But the mobile version looks promising as well. Maybe Ill give it try to see the difference.
Most of the buttons are just bloat. One attack readys another, then it readys another. Etc. They just combined the combos. So instead of like I mentioned, you just re click the icon. And for like the bards songs, you just hold the button and they pop up. Then Swype the one you want. He's showcased all the jobs already

Most of it is the animations and some of the effects. It does have some better and more fluid animations. Plus little side things like animated map elements and stuff. No one is talking about the over all graphics
The fact that Leylines is here as an ability at 50 and not at fucking 52 instead. Yknow, the ability that Black Mage is the MOST known for and part of its identity, isnt a core thing you unlock at 50. But instead 2 levels later. That should have been changed like 6 years ago.
seems so, the atomos on retail works with one party enabling another party to fight for example. Cerberus (the World of Darkness boss) with just 8man would be nuts unless you scrape off certain mechanics like no belly fight or no chains
@@rivenoak You could just have everyone go into the belly and then do the chains. If it's a complete reimplementation of the game, there's no reason to exactly mimic the vanilla mechanics and their overlaps.
