So many families leave the country and their pets are just left behind on the streets
We don't leave the country, we continue to feed stray dogs and rescue as many animals as we can

Well done to those kids. I know it must be a hard time in Ukraine but there is no excuse for animal cruelty. Those kids showed an enormous amount of compassion.

Some people, for some reasons, SOMETIMES cultural but other times, just nasty people, don't consider any other living thing as a sentient being. Sometimes NOT even their own children .
I have known people to whom dogs ONLY reason to be is to work, to be "useful". They never let the gods in the house, didn't pay the all that much attention and took the dogs when they went hunting. THAT was their reason to have a dog.
Some Muslims think dogs are unclean and will torture and kill them. This is common in Afghanistan under the Taliban. Even as the AFGHAN HOUND was a site hunting dog, bred in Afghanistan 4.000 years ago. Go figure. There is a woman from Tennessee who has lived in Kabul for years and is still there. She rescues small animals of all kinds, and gets them out of the country Via the UAE and Canada. I can't believe she stayed. She said it would not have been kind to leave them.
I am so thankful that there are ladies like Charlotte (in Kabul) and Olena in the world with all the ugliness we are seeing these days.

I hope the people that hurt Leo & Stella learn one thing. It's rough in this world to be Human and it's just as double in some cases for abandoned and stray Animals. They may have just wanted a few leftovers from your Sandwich or scarps from your dinner plate. And a bowl of fresh water. A warm place to stay and remain safe was all they knew to ask for.

Don't worry. Those low lives will pay when they don't get the chance to ascend to the 4th and 5th dimension with the rest of us. People who are cruel to animals can't.
