you mean a rumor of an optional service that doesnt exist (yet?)... I would say it is a strange rumor that was hurtful to Canon. Everyone ran with it like a fact for some reason.
Canon has been so tight lipped recently that there is no longer a position open for "rumors" just speculation...
it has always been and it will always only be speculations and fake news to get clicks for ads...

@@Stego86 False. Canonrumors was very reliable. They had the full specs of the R5 a month or 2 before canon even announced it in feb which then was released in july. IT actually helped me from switching to Sony. At that time canon was lacking a decent 4k hybrid with ibis, 4k 60 and eye detect. All what sony had a monopoly on.

Yes, they need to at least release a camera as updated as the Nikon Z8. For me, that’s an attractive alternative to the current R5.

Well canon Slovenia has an event on 15 and 21 of may. On the 15th it’s a cinema ambassador holding a lecture and on 21 it’s a landscape ambassador so I hope this is a confirmation of the rumour about 15th being a launch day.

Same here. I know this can be draining. The reason Craig sold the site to begin with is Cyber bullying. That will take a lot out of you.
@OrdinaryFilmmaker Cyber bullying is just awful. It's the reason I don't engage with replies that show my beliefs on any topic. There's always someone with the opposite beliefs willing to make people's lives miserable. I hope Canon didn't hit him with a cease and desist. The rumors haven't been all that specific really.
@@cathco9 yes I feel the same about commenting as well. I follow a few channels that report on the airline industry and commenting on those videos really take a toll on you. If you speak your thoughts on an airplane manufacture, you receive a lot of hate and name calling.
Canon isn't Boeing. Maybe they offered him a job.

Almost sounds like Craig was "leaned on". Is this how Canon keeps things quiet on the rumour mill now? Is this the new Canon that is appearing with their brand new revenue model?
There was some of that from sources not to let info out early, but I think this is largely due to what happened two years ago - how he lost the appetite for it, lost the enjoyment for it.

Anyway, he doesn't owe his life to CanonRumors, so when he's had enough that's his right and we will dearly miss him but we can't push him to continue.

I hate to hear stories like this. I hope he's ok. While I do have a small photography business, I can't put my well-being above my business. Thank you for all you do. I know it's not easy work, but I also know you love doing it.

I appreciate what you said about wanting to be a primary source for information, and I'm subscribed to this channel precisely for that reason. And yet, this is a big loss because I want a TEXT primary source.
When I see the same information in one of your videos and in a CR post, I can read the post and get the gist in about 15 seconds. Your videos don't even get going for longer than that, not to mention that time last week that you specifically dragged things out, explicitly making fun of those of us who want to just get to the point already.
You have something valuable to add in your voice and commentary, and you're certainly head-and-shoulders above the hypebeast UA-camrs who I won't even bother to name. But news and commentary are different things, and I'm going to miss having a textual source of news on what's happening with Canon.

Sad news, concerning Craig - Like you I hope he is ok and just needing a break - It has been tense in the Canon world. I wish I could help in some way, unfortunately I'm not connected enough to be of any use. We also know that your integrity in keeping your sources safe is paramount to you as you have always be honest and straight up with us. It seems to it would for canon to publish via leaks or press release about some of its new features to keep current customers but not enough to advantage competitive. With all of the patients can Canon cash in with them with other manufacturers via licenses?

An R5 C with it's non-overheating 8k 60 fps combined with the R3's beautiful ready to go 4K 60fps color science without the need of raw or c-log 3 along with it's fast continuous auto focus tracking, superior low light capabilities, and long battery life would be the dream Canon camera update for me. Basically a Nikon Z8 equivalent

i think your audience would mainly be, like me, a camera geek and looking for an update. Like all rumor's they are exactly that a rumour till they become a true-mour. A t the end of the day Canon or whoever will release a product that they will feel is fit for their market and then the dissection will start - the cycle goes on. Thanks for your time in doing what you do Simon. Hats off to Craig, hope all becomes well in his world
Pursuing camera rumors might be likened to an addiction or madness, as it involves repeating the same actions and anticipating different outcomes. However, no real change occurs until the manufacturer officially announces its products and specifications, which is always uncertain. Speculation and rumors are simply premature nonsense. As for the recent announcement you mentioned, viewers who are frustrated have the option to unsubscribe and seek factual information from other channels.
R1 delayed, subscription model inbound, camera sales down in general. Ai impact on photography… so many reasons that may have impacted his decision. Or he is simply ready to move on or hopefully not - health concerns.
With the existence of the r3 being a sports shooters best friend in the canon world, and the r5 series being a higher megapixel camera, what would the r1 need to be.
It almost feels as if there is no real place for the r1 if they continue both the r3 and r5 camera lines simultaneously.
What features would need to exist to make it their flagship with how great those other two cameras already are?
My thought is it would be the higher end R5 purpose built camera, with the integrated vertical grip, even higher resolution for studio/fashion, landscape/nature, and better weather sealing.
The R3 line is more like the 1d mark 2/3 series was with the sports oriented speed, and lower resolution, while the R1 would be more like the 1ds cameras with higher resolution. Essentially the R3 and R6 Mark 2 are the expensive/cheaper versions targeted to similar customer needs with different budgets, and the R1 and R5 series would cater toward the higher resolution needs of Canon photographers…
There is still room for differentiation, especially when you include the built in vertical grip design differences on the higher end models, vs the more compact bodies of the mid tier offerings…

Sources for whatever reason are probably harder to come by, and recently the site hasn't had much success with coming up with rumors that turn out to be close. They are all over the place with their reports. I do wish him luck in the future

Simon, you had once suggested to me to do a UA-cam channel and claim all my camera gear purchases as a business expense. Well, this is why I don't...I would totally burn out, and quick. I already have a full-time job that's 10hrs a day, a part-time that pulls at least 8hrs a day, a side gig that can easily go up to 12hrs...I don't think I'd want to add a UA-cam channel and/or photos on the side. I'm not sure how you manage, I can barely hold it together with what I'm pulling, plus 2 kids.

I bet this has to do with the subscription model. These Canon losers think it's just a delicate subject rather than something we would all seriously object to enough on principle enough to cost them millions is bonus payout or whatever they get off sales.

There is no IP or agreement that can be broken by sharing anonymous tips on your website. So highly unlikely, unless he's hacking or otherwise breaking in to Canon confidential information. Canons "C&D" in this case is the action they are taking with their employees and vendors to stop the leaks.

Yes, that was about two years ago. I was one of the channels is spoke positively about because I always gave him credit. But that is not why he sold the site. It was a case of Cyber Bullying. Check out my interview with him.
