Teen Wolf Championship Game w/Stats

- The Championship Game in Teen Wolf with Michael J. Fox's stat line. Some anomalies here keep us from knowing for sure his point total, such as only getting 1 Free Throw on the first two (obviously flagrant) fouls, but that is neither here nor there. Also, how is the villain not escorted off the court on Fox's final free throws? He is allowed to stand directly under the hoop, cmon stripes!
The key to the Beavers comeback was Chubbs knocking down the jumper to start the comeback. After that, Dragons couldn't play their vaunted 2-3 zone for fear that Chubbs would go off.

This scene captured the atmosphere of small gym high school basketball in the 80's to a tee.
Agreed
Could not agree more.
Except everybody's hair stays perfect. I came from the Deep South, where it was 105 in the gym, and hair was a soggy mess on everybody.
This my school now😂
This is simple the best movie of '85 together with Back To The Future. Michael has been my hero since I was a kid and he still damn is.
I'm going to leave this comment here so 5 years later i can be with the rest of you legends... guy commented like 10 years ago... that's raw man
Almost there bro...a few more months😊

@@DavidThomas-qq4hf we did it gang 😭
As a 10 year old boy I thought, "That's bullshit! They would never let Mick just stand there under the basket eyeballing Scott like that!" Even then I loved this movie so much! Hilarious that you actually broke down his stat line!
What Basketball league did you play in? I would shoot a free-throw while the whole opposing team made sexual references to my mother, one even eluding to chance he could be my father.
I absolutely LOVE how Michael J is getting baby carried down the court celebrating and the dude from the other team just runs down the court and scores a lay up. That's REAL basketball right there
How about the 300 lbs player? When I played Basketball, most of practice was running gassers. It was physically impossible to be overweight with my coach. He ran us till the sun set.
😂
Nothing sums up Beavers basketball more than Scott and number 33 combining for the lay-up at 4:44 to reduce the margin to 5... before an over the top celebration that lets the Dragons' 45 take quick the inbound, dribble up the court unopposed and drop in the easy reply
Thank You sir that was Sean at the Sorts Desk now we send it down to Deb with the weather, How's it looking out there Deb?
tfw you come to this video, read this comment, and realize you already upvoted it 5 years ago.
Never before has a team that jumps when they shoot free throws and celebrates every made shot like it's a game-winner accomplished such a miraculous victory...
Its a movie bro chill😂😂😂
@@Upthereds6😂😂😂😂😂 it’s more than a movie! It’s a part of our lives 💯
@@lastoneleft804 I agree Teen Wolf & Teen Wolf 2 were a huge part of my childhood, I watched them 100+ times.
It's the championship game so yea every point is gonna be celebrated
That’s because this was based in 1980 and as you can see in both teams playing there’s only 1 black guy 😂😂😂😂 so this was how whites played
I LOVE THIS SONGS AND SPECIALLY THIS MOVIE LONG LIVE THE 80'S
Michael J. Fox with a John Stockton like performance. Without the wolf !
Lol
One of the best endings of any movie I've ever seen
Agreed
Double agreed!
Yeah with over the top movie also.
I 100% feel that way too! "Win in the End" and "Shooting for the Moon". Now that is how you incorporate songs into a movie! Absolutely LEGENDARY. Again, one of thee best endings ever is film history. I don't care what anyone says because the feelings it gave me was extremely & intensely strong, therefore I stand by that statement forever. When I was 10 back in '93 I used to get soooo naturally high off "Win in the End"! Just running around and onto my couch and recliners. 😄 What a time it was.
That’s genuinely true. This is actually a very, very good song.
At 52 seconds was when you could pinpoint the demise of the Dragons. That song alone was enough for the Beavers to overcome all odds.
The crowd after last shot is priceless
14pts from 5 out of 6 field goals and 4 out of 4 freethrows, 6 assists, 2 steals, all in the 2nd half....that is some Michael Jordan GOAT numbers right there for a highschool game.
5:16 Dragons have a one point lead and the ball with 34 seconds left but #5 decides he needs to shoot a jump shot even though there isn't a shot clock. I blame him for the loss. I bet he still curses himself for that 34 years later.
And its the same scene as before too, right? Or am I wrong? I guess it was time to recycle......🤔 lol
Lmfao yes!
#45 in yellow was a beast
Exactly Mick would not be able to stand there. My old man called that back in the day. Nice observation. Great movie.
Personally, the biggest issue I have is with the officiating. Since when is a player allowed to stand underneath the basket and give the opposing player the stink-eye while he shoots game ending free throws? You'd think between the coach and the refs someone might have objected to that.
triton2toro After fouling out of the game at that. Two flagrant/intentional fouls would've knocked Mick out long before the end.
Its a movie man
Think it was his 5th foul so shouldn't have been allowed to stand there. But was perfect torture seeing the ball go in lol.
Because Mick would've beat the refs fuckin ass
Look the coach gave 3 raw rules to live by……ive been doing it since ‘85
Missed in all of this was #45. That guy could genuinely ball.
Mick’s disgusted look @ 7:50 is priceless, as he grudgingly admits defeat for his team.
Yeah and the icing on the cake is Pamela Wells dropping him like a bad habit at the end. Both losers.
He's got the same look my neighbour had when I waved the deeds in his face and told him he take down an illegal length of fence......
Definitely on the top 30 all time movie list. Did you know Minnesota originally wanted to call their team the Teen Wolves?
A good movie, not the CGI garbage they make today.
Plot is a powerful thing.
Agreed
Spot on!
Amen
Scott Howard was Rondo before his time. Look at him. He's not even thinking about taking a jump shot. He's going right to the hoop either for the layup or to create opportunities for the fat guy (Davis) and the unstoppable #45 (KG).
Mick's foul @ 3:46 should have been a Flagarant Two foul. He made no play on the ball whatsoever and intentionally shoved Howard to the ground. The refs almost blew this game for the Beavers.
Different era. It was a mans game when Mick and Scott played.

@@DavidThomas-qq4hf Thanks brother! Just trying to keep it real out here in life.
I watch this shit every day
Love the free throw shots...great!!!
rivals reports that 45 had offer from duke, kansas, north carolina and UCLA that year. top prospect out of the midwest.
You also have to question the Dragons coaching. Number 5 could be blamed for the entire loss as he allowed Chubbs to hit a wide open shot, getting the crowd back in the game and ultimately allowing one of the greatest comebacks in basketball history.
scottie went full magic here lmao
Those stats are great. That one guy had like 5 blocks!
Comments are pretty humorous. I thought it would be people talking about the song, but it is mostly Basketball fans talking about the game like it was on early today, and they are talking about the bad calls, and the errors in coaching and play. Very funny.
If Scott got back on D instead of jumping into his teammates arms ... they win by 7
They cover the reverse teaser huh? 😂
From the second Mick says "Shoot it fat Boy" Chub goes into the Zone!
Awesome
he run the fastbreak and the Give&Go like a champ!
dude that play at 114-120s
between mjf and beaver #45
was sick.......
The Wolf would have fucked around a got a triple double!
One thing that 80's movies always seemed to just brush off are the details... like I never got why they were playing the championship game in their home arena...
Due to bad weather; polar vortex..
All the games were home games
Different states, cities, districts, etc. have different methods and there are several factors that could lead to such events. Overall, it seems as if none of them would be "good enough" for the newer generations. Which makes the presence thereof just short of meaningless under many circumstances.
Just a movie
In most state association district tournaments, the championship site rotates to each school in the district, and it usually takes 4 to 10 seasons for a complete rotation. This was probably a district championship level game, because most regional tournaments are at a D2, D3, NAIA or NJCAA college. Other regionals are held where a high school has tons more bleachers in the gym than the one shown in the film.
Also, you have to really suspend disbelief to really enjoy this game. You cannot tell me that G-D Lemonade wouldn't have just gone off and put up like 30 points, 20 rebounds, and like 10 blocks in this one?!!
Mick sure was an idiot for pushing Scott during the final play of the game, Mick's team would've won the game if it wasn't for Mick pushing Scott, I wish they would've shown Mick's teammates and the coach chewing him out for what he did to Scott.
Blond womb..... it will make u do stupid stuff....
And he also thinks he's going to avoid the locker room when he goes up to the blonde "sort of girfriend" and says "lets blow outta here". Even as a little kid I was like "uh... you've got a team meeting bro. and it's not gonna be a good one!" lol
I doubt Mick was gonna get chewed out considering he was the same age as his coach.
How so? If Mick doesn’t foul Scott he makes the winning bucket on the give and go. Mick got heat in the play, he had to foul him at that point.
3:04 love Scott's catch!
Great performance by the Beavers to be sure and Scotts 14 6 and 3 steals are huge but that;s not the biggest story in this game.
Some very questionable time keeping leads to me suspect this game was fixed. .
First with 6:50 left in the third it's 32-10 Dragons then at 6:44 35-12 Dragons, how?
And of course the final play where Howard foolishly waits until 3 secs left to make his move and somehow has time to complete the give and go which takes 6 secs.
Then no time is added for the Dragons
80s theme music with the underdog winning! There will never be an era like this again!
How much more of this can you take freak? As much as you can dish out mic? Love that line!
As a Sixers fan, if that was Ben Simmons at the line at the end of the game we'd be f'ed!!!!!!! 😂 Lol
🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂 greatest comment ever!!!
@OrangeKing81
He was the defensive specialist that kept #44 in check. Offense sells tickets. Defense wins games.
mvp...mvp !!!!!! best job justin i need the numbers 35 years after😂😂😂😂😂
I'm here to say that they need to make a Teen Wolf follow-up to this movie, with Scott's son (skips a generation) and grandson (new wolf)
Michael J Fox isn't nearly old enough to do that, maybe in 10 or 15 years
Aside from the drama of the finish to the game, what made this scene for me was when Scott walked straight past Mick's girl (who had used him to make Mick jealous) and instead made a beeline for the much 'prettier' girl IMO who was immensely loyal to him.
Yup a great part to the ending; all this time Boof was the one for him, but he could not see it until now and Scott as himself is better than being the wolf.
(But this just hit me, him being the wolf is him, so it wouldn't be bad being the wolf, right? I dunno.)
Boof is very cute but Pamela Wells is a sex bomb. But yes, that skank had it coming, very fitting.
And one state championship !
The coach should have benched Scott at the 4:50 mark for his showboating, jumping into his teammates arms, allowing the other team to get an easy fast break. Get the hell back on D and stop with the Sportscenter crap.
And what the hell are the referees thinking allowed the opposing player to stand under the basket while Scott is taking the final free throws. With no time on the clock, he has to be on the bench.
KnickKnack07 they didn’t score
#33 was hoopin!!!
"That's 4 fouls. One more and you're outta there."
So, the Beavers got to play both games vs. the Dragons at home? Sounds like a glitch in the scheduling if you ask me.
The Dragons were a playoff game for the State Championship. The other game was a regular season game.
Scott Howard with those Assists
Mark Safan's inspirational song in this scene is on par with Joe Esposito's "You're the Best" and Survivor's "Eye of the Tiger." Absolute classic 80s
I love love this song gets me hyped up. Hopefully for other people too
At 6:48,
Scott has tied score! This means the game is not over. If Scott makes this next shot, the Beavers win the championship. If he misses, we go into overtime but Mick will not be allowed to play because he has exceeded his limit of fouls.
I swear the guy who is number 45 for The Beavers is 45 years old.
i would have given that nick kid the red eyes on my last free throw knowing it was going in
cavalierfan1995 Mick
I wonder what hurt Mick worse, losing the championship that way or Scott banging his girl?
miss those awesome inspiring 80's soundtracks
This scene showed how an underdog became a legend
0:20 that got him mad 😂😂😂
I love Mick’s reaction… like… fair play!
Tom Thibodeau would have had a heart attack from watchin this performance on D
@BrooklynRabbi No..it means he should have two misses added to his FT totals. We know he doesn't make those two unseen shots becuase the score wouldn't match up. (We actually see every single point scored during that montage.) So he must have missed two foul shots.
Goat basketball movie!
Teen Wolf Too should have been about #45 and his on-the-court prowess.
45 could ball
@bigleagues What the hell are you talking about? There is NOTHING in the rules about not being able to jump on a free throw. Where do you even THINK you are getting that rule from? As long as you are inside the semi-circle (you can be at the top of the arch if you want as long as you are inside the line) when you take off, and you land inside as well, you can jump all you want.
number 45 for the beavers and mick for best of the game
I love how Michael J Fox has to jump to shoot free throws.
I've always liked this last part of the movie. It shows that they always had the skills to beat these guys. They just needed to believe in themselves. 😊
Is Scott allowed to do that at 3:28?
Unless someone else already commented on this somewhere, but the 1st shot by Chubby was not counted on the stats at the bottom of the screen, just an assist was. If thats true then tsk tsk Mr. Rollo. I mean come on guy lol.
Also should that be counted as an assist, since he had the ball for some time?
And you gotta love that "Alright!" from Coach Finstock's assistant. Sounded like a lynx being choked lol.
Since when was a statue of limitations enforced on what’s an assist? Scott passed it to Chubby who waited, then shot and scored, why wouldn’t Scott get the assist? Is their some subjective invisible timer that decides who does/does not get an assist?
14 points!! And he was probably the leading scorer for either team!! LOL!
Idk man He showed up late to the championship game which was never explained, did he have to stay after class for geometry tutoring? Plus that goon Mick was cherry picking the entire game and had at least a half dozen put backs. But it’s mind blowing that this video kept the stats, I’ve always wondered what his stat line was. It always seemed like he had more points and steals, I was thinking like 20 points and 5 steals. But I guess 14 points makes sense considering the team scored 52.
HAHAHA this is brilliant!
It’s 2021 I just turned 50 and still Cream cheese thanks coach👍🏼
@mattsmt20 Yeah, but then Chubby would have almost certainly had a heart attack if he had to play 5 more minutes. So Scott saved Chubby's life by making that last shot.
Aí sim um filme bacana, esses jovens não tem idéia como tudo era tão bom neste tempo
Scott should have 16 points. The two fouls he drew were two shot fouls and we only got to see the back end of those free throw attempts (pretty sure he made them, then they cut out to shave the movie's runtime)
@ 4:57 the Visitors score on the scoreboard went 49, 41, 51 lol.
Their playing like a team was what helped them win.
Missed adding the first basket to the stats... Ahhh, not all the points are added lol.
@2ndretard That's a good point. You can afford to play Chubby up close. It's not like he's going to drive on you. #5 was clearly a weak link on the Dragons. He got raped by #45 all game long. You'd think they'd quit passing to him, especially since Mick is 5 feet taller than the person (Scott) guarding him.
Scott had a good game but I was disappointed when he celebrated and the opposing team got an easy fast break. Get back on D
handsomebwonderful81 exactly
handsomebwhonderful81
handsomebwonderful81 They missed plus he was geeked up relax they still win and he was running whole game his Cardio was on another level even Mick acknowledges it when he’s like how long can you keep this up freak and he’s like as long as you can dish it out Mick. Holla
@@nyg_dbone Scott was point shaving
Is it me or is no45 for dragons laughing on the layup ?
03:25 So funny
Furthermore I think the Dragons coaching needs to be questioned.
Up by 23 with less then 15 minutes to play you gotta close.
They made several major errors
1. They failed to put a body on #45 all 2nd half.
2. They never made Howard beat them with the J.
3. Mick picked up several unnecessary fouls They are lucky the Beavers only got 1 FT for them or it could have really hurt.
4. They insisted on going inside to #5 who had no chance against #45. He was blocked 3 times on the same shot
Yeah what was that about? Once a team gets into the penalty the other team gets a 1 one 1 shot meaning if they hit the first ft, they get another attempt to make 2 free throws.
@@joshmorgan838 , you just relied to a comment I made 13 years ago. Time flies.
Considering this came out in John Stockton's rookie year I'm gona say he emulated Mjf to a tee for the rest of his career.
#33 standin on business at the end when Scott was fouled
What’s does FG and FT stand for please?
FG - Field Goal (Made basket)
FT - Free Throw
That, and the guy was clearly moving both feet for most of the 30 seconds.
"Shoot it fat boy!".. lol loved this movie
Funny. The coach for the Beavers is just chilling on the chair, scratching his face while his team is in last few seconds trying to score and win the game.
He probably lost money on the game lol.
At 2:18 did Mick intend on doing giving the Beavers the ball so he could push Scott seconds later?
5:18 ese tapon se convirtió en leyenda.....
Off the court under the basket? Is that allowed??
Hell no
Not quite the great ending of Hoosiers, but it still had a nice warm fuzzy.
why is scott not scared of the noises
LOL, at 0:46, Mick posts up Scott. You think the Dragons would have gone to that a few more times. Instead, they keep trying to score against #45, who is clearly headed straight to the pros.
Also, why is Beaconton only playing 4 guys (Scott, Chubby, #45, and #33). I know Doug Savant got hurt, but there are other guys sitting on the bench. Who does Finstock think he is, Norman Dale?
There's #34 @ 5:48.
and players hitting the deck about 20 times
