Fantastic pieces RJ…… you know I love my stockmans they are some of my favorite pattern….. I can look at stockmans all day thanks RJ for the look at them be well out there thanks again buddy 😊
Great video, I just got myself and Kevin a 47!! The blades are so much more Beefier than the ones on the 18. Next one on the books will be a 32 pattern. Thanks for sharing!!
The 47 pattern looks really interesting. The other day I found a sowbelly that JKG recommended. I'll have to keep an eye out for a 47. Thanks for showing this one.
I’m sure that you will enjoy it. It has a great history and is one that I think you will enjoy seeing the way it is put together. Let me know when you get one.
Love your videos! Always a joy to watch. I love the 3 7/8” stockman in carbon steel. I would love to see Case produce this in varied bone and stag. I’d buy every one of them. Do you think they may be producing these in the future?
I agree with you, I would like to see more of the 47 pattern. I don’t know if Case will listen to us or not. I would suggest that you get what’s out there as you can because makers are fickle. I’m glad you enjoy the channel!
My favorite slip joint pattern. The 3 spring design is nice. It looks better visually and you have straight blades. I prefer the standard clip point blade too.
Great comparison video! The 47 went underappreciated by me for a long time until my brother got one and I tried slicing some bread with that clip blade. The downward attack angle on the blade combined with how thin it is made pull cuts so easy, and then I buttered the bread with the back of the sheepsfoot blade (the spey also buttered quite nicely). There are some knives that bring a smile to your face when you use them and this is one of them 😄 I would say it's an S-Class EDC. The smallest big knife you can get that can do it all.
I just pre-ordered a 47 stockman in blue denim laminate. Boy, it looks so nice in the pictures, at least. I have an 18 also, which I like, but I look forward to the more traditional clip point and the individual springs. Case seems to make fewer of the 47 than other stockman patterns. I wonder why.
That sounds like a good looking knife. I don’t know why the 47 is not more popular. It’s a lot more knife than the 18 and not much bigger. Enjoy your new knife and thanks for watching, Mike!
I don't have a 47 yet, but I hope to make that my next knife. The Stockman is my favorite pattern. I've got several different 18's. No 75s either but I do have a couple of other Large Stockmans from Camillus and Remington. I feel the same way about the Large Stockman. Too big for the pocket.
I like the 47. It’s definitely worth getting and it’s a neat pattern. The 75 definitely needs a belt pouch or dedicated pocket. But it’s a sweet knife. You’re going to be like me and get both eventually. Thanks Donnie!
I have a 47 in dark red jigged bone and CV steel. A beautiful knife,. I'm looking to get more, so I'll probably get the yellow synthetic from Sheppard Hills. IMHO, the pattern is elegant. That is, if a stockman can be elegant.
Yes, I do think that a stockman can be elegant. And the 47 definitely can. The yellow is nice. Check out the Tractor Supply exclusive 47. It’s really nice, I have a video on it. Your dark red bone knife sounds awesome, thanks David!
@RJsKnives As a matter of fact, the Tractor Supply knife arrived at my doorstep just yesterday. I tried to order one a couple of weeks ago, and they canceled my order and told me that they wouldn't ship it to me. Last week, I saw it was still on the website, so I took a chance and ordered it, hoping it would work. I got nervous when they emailed me that it was delayed, but it finally arrived.
The 47 is really nice. Better than the 18 and easier to tote than a 75. Tractor Supply has an exclusive with olive green bone and an exclusive shield. I have a video of it on my channel. Happy hunting and let me know which one you get!
Large Stockman's are probably my favourite pattern but I have to be careful as the main blade is over 3 inches, your in-between size would be a great compromise. Am sticking to only buying off a list of knives I've never got around to and a Case or a Leatherman were next on the list, most of the Case's I liked were from sites on the continent and I didn't want to chance it getting caught in the mail at present, I'll wait until things settle down over there so got the Leatherman. Now I know about the in between size I'll have to look out for them!
At the time of making that video, I did not have a 44. Since then I do have one. I made a video on it and I can see your point. It’s a great size for the pocket. Thanks John!
My Large Stockman 6375 is bigger than my Large Trapper 6254. The Stockman is Cv and the Trapper is SS. The Stockman is about an 1/8” longer than the Trapper.
Funny how 2/8s makes a big difference. I can get by with an 18 but I like the blades and how they are setup on the 47 better. Thanks Wes, hope you’re doing well!
Wish i could get a CV 47 😔... I guess my favorite stockman is the 63032.... i like them all My favorites for sure are the 032, 75, 47... Also the 44 is amazing and even 33.. 18 is kinda 🤷🏻♂️ nothing really wrong with it, but if i go with medium I'd rather pick up the 032.... There all good 75 is the most impressive and it fits my coin pocket perfectly....
The CV or CS 47 is still available at Shepherd Hills. I agree, the 18 is not my favorite. Like you said, nothing wrong with it but doesn’t make me happy like the others do. That’s a heck of a coin pocket you got there for a 75! Thanks for watching!
OMG Case stole the three spring stockman design from Buck? I'll really have to tell Tom the Buckman about this! He will so gonna have a rumble with Case Paste Tom. In all seriousness; the 47 pattern is not much bigger, but the blades really make a difference. Who doesn't like a larger speyblade? Thank you for your contribution RJ.
Yes, I think Buck borrowed the idea from Case, since the Case model came out first. Tom has been informed, there was crying and gnashing of teeth involved but he got over it. Although he said Junior may pay me a visit! I’m glad you enjoyed the Spey blade. Have a great weekend my friend!
For me, the 47 is the threshold for front pocket carry . It's just that little bit too much. Gotta go back pocket or sheath. It's chunky/hefty, but I love the 3 springs.
I agree. In a slip it wasn’t too bad but it’s at the upper limit. I really like this pattern. You told me to try it and I’m very glad I did. Thank you.
Also I have thought for years now that the Spey blade on the 18 is undersized compared to the other blades of the knife and I don’t care for the “Turkish” style clip blade.

I love Case knives, I still buy them and support them. I want them to stay in business. Think of it as constructive criticism. Not that they see my videos but I hope they get their QC down.
The 47 pattern is nice. My favorite Stockman is the 75, and the 47 holds second. Very cool RJ.👍👍
I agree with you. I like them both and it will be hard to say which is number one. Thanks Steve!

It’s funny because I made my video before I even saw yours. We are on the same wavelength, Pete! Have a great weekend buddy!
Cool breakdown and comparison to the 75 pattern and others. I like that it's a three spring design. Thanks for the look RJ.
I really like this. It just may be my new favorite stockman pattern. Time will tell. Thanks John!
Always love a great stockman! Some of my favorite patterns!!!!
Mine too, thanks Mike!

Thanks Jose, hope you have a great weekend also!
Interesting shepard hills exclusive. I have not seen that one before. Nice stockmans RJ!
