My dad was a bastard me growing up, was beat up black and blue by him , I grew up how to fight. Ended up in prison for 6 months. Came out met my partner we had toni jane, she changed my life. Lost my dad 2010 he said sorry son to me 2 days before he passed, didn't need to tell me already forgiven him years before cause he was my dad xx

I was my father's caregiver with Alzheimer's ... I might be a daughter but I can relate to these words because he had forgotten who I was a year before he passed ... the one bright thing is when he talked about his oldest child (me) I was able to know how he truly felt about me ...

When I was young I always though like a lot of little kids do and did there was monsters under my bed. My father would come in and scare the monsters out. He has passed now, and it is my turn to chase the monsters away. I miss my dad so much it hurts.

  • @Budini67

This song is always a gut-punch to me. My father had a stroke and had dementia for a short time. While he was in the hospital, he was convinced that the nurses and doctors were trying to kill him. He would also, at night, be convinced that people were hiding in the shadows. So my brothers and sisters and I all took turns staying with him at night so he felt safer. Mom said the paranoia came from 'things he did when he was in the marines that still haunt him because they were bad things.' Her words... I have to wonder what exactly he did.... LOVED your heartfelt reaction to this. +1 sub and look forward to riding with you on a musical journey. 💖🎶😎

My mother divorced my father when I was a toddler. I never met my father. The only thing I ever knew of him was that he was abusive and, when I was 10, we got a call from his mother telling us he was shot to death breaking into another man's mobile home. And this I bring into raising 4 children of my own, knowing nothing about being a father. They're all adults now, themselves...and none of them want anything to do with me. I...don't know how to reconnect with them. I feel like if I had had this relationship with my father, my relationship with my children would be better. This song makes me cry every time I hear it, mostly because I feel my children will never feel this for me.

    • @thecharlesjohnson
      @thecharlesjohnson Рік тому +3

My Dad pretty much abandoned me for cocaine when I was a child. We have reconciled, because of two things. You have to own up to your mistakes. You have to apologize. And you have to change going forward. It's going to take a lot of work on your part, and they probably will not believe you much in the beginning. But it is worth it to try, because me and my Dad are best friends now, and that wouldn't have ever happened if he didn't put in the effort.

My favorite part for all of these reactions, is when they pause at , “We’re just two grown men saying goodbye” because it’s so emotional and they think that they’ve heard the most gut-wrenching part of the song, only for “It’s my turn, to chase the monsters away” come up and shatter their entire universe.

Both James & his father were former serving officers in the British military & so James donated all the proceeds from this amazing song to the UK charity 'Help For Heroes' who do so much wonderful work for ex-servicemen & women, and God bless him for that. His father survived his kidney transplant (he'd recently been diagnosed with Stage 4 kidney disease and desperately need a transplant) but I heard recently, his kidney was functioning at only 11% again but I don't know if that's actually true.

    Hi from the UK.
I am 52 now and lost my father very unexpectedly 6 years ago.
This song means so much to me for all the things that I COULDN'T do for him and say to him as he wasn't ill.
Your comment "that prospect can be at any moment" is so true and hit me hard.
My father died suddenly whilst on a cruise with my mother on Mother's Day 2018 at the age of 82.
He was also my moral beacon and my mentor in so many ways.
Love to you and hope you and yours are still well.
    Be strong, stay safe.

I am incredibly blessed to have an incredible relationship with my parents. For me, unlike most teenagers, my Dad became my best friend and the person I could talk to during my Junior High and Highschool years. I continued that friendship, long-distance, during college out of state and then while OTR Truck Driving. I'm now back living about 15 minutes from his house and we continue, now more than ever, to be very close. The thought of losing him tears me apart. Thankfully both my parents are still healthy and only 60. But I've recently seen the signs that they are aging. I know it is the natural order of life, but I can't imagine life without them. As I've heard it said, the more you love someone, the great the grief when you lose them.

This song never fails to break me but I have to say your commentary really resonated with me as well. The part about listening for your dad moving around in the morning got to me. My dad passed from lung cancer and I remember setting my alarm every 3 hours to listen out for him snoring and to hear him moving about in the morning. I'll never forget the day that there wasn't any noise from his room...it was a day I was dreading and honestly even though I knew it was coming nothing could have prepared me for it. Very different but you might want to listen to Charles Bradley singing Changes - I know he is not as famous as most of the people you listen to. He finally achieved fame late in life. His version of Black Sabbath's Changes routinely gets listed in lists of the best covers. A very different voice from that of James Blunt - but you will feel the emotion he is experiencing. I will give you the heads up that it is about loss - but you may already know that from Black Sabbath's version. I doubt you will forget Charles Bradley once you've heard him or seen him perform

For the record, when I watch reactors reacting to this song, men, especially, if they are doing everything in their power to not cry, it takes a lot away from their ‘reaction’ and it’s disappointing. If they show no emotion at all, I stop watching. My mother died when I was 24, my father when I was 44. Then my only sister died of breast cancer, at just 47, less than 2 years after my father’s death. I miss all of them, still, all the time. I didn’t hold back tears when they were dying, I don’t hold them back when they still come, sometimes, when I’m thinking of them. Thank you for being a full-fledged human being with genuine feelings, and a man unafraid to show them. Subscribed. And I hope you get more subscribers who prefer authenticity in reactors. Your father is lucky to have such a son as you. My best for you as you move forward in this often difficult thing we’re all doing called life.

If you love your Dad, tell him. There is no need for any explanation or context, just do it. The day will come when the chance has gone. Don't miss the opportunity.

You may like one of his hundreds of songs (all of which were hits) I recommend "No Bravery" as he did two tours in Afghanistan and many other services to the British Military. He lives with his wife and two small children in Ibiza. This was the first take.

Big Papa D. I lost my mom in 2011 And my dad in 2016 it was heartbreaking it's been a while now and I'm still not over it but one thing I don't have is regret I told them I love them everyday and how much they meant to me and I helped take care of my mom when she was sick and my dad. Put your pride aside and always let your dad know that you love him and how much he means to you, cuz when they're gone you can't tell him anymore. I know that you love your dad just by the reaction of the song. I'll be praying for you Go ahead and make that step for your dad even if he won't because that way when it is his time and God calls him home you have no regrets. Also I subscribed because I feel that you are a 100% real reactor and you keep it real no matter if you cry or not being a man. Cuz being a real man you can cry and show your emotions so glad I found you I will see you later.❤❤❤❤

You know EVERYTIME I find a new reaction video to this particular song I find myself saying "Please don't pause it. Please no pausing it more than once!" Just so we can see a true AUTHENTIC reaction with no interruptions since those interruptions are being used so that you can collect yourself. I say that over and over. Because I, and it's safe to say MANY OTHERS feel the same, want to see the person's full reaction without any breaks in between since that then is an authentic reaction. All talking can be done when the video is over. Especially when asking a question about the video that you would have your answer(s) to just by watching it.....uninterrupted. Believe me out of the 80 or maybe even more reaction videos I've watched to this song in particular maybe 5 of those never shed a tear. So it is expected. BUT that also is what makes it an authentic reaction. So no pausing more than once. Listen to the words and have an authentic reaction to them for us viewers.
(FYI: IF you feel the need to reply &/or send me a message PLEASE make peace with the fact that I do not read or even see them. I just do not care to do the whole back & forth debate thing since I prefer to just watch more videos than spending time reading & responding to past comments that I've left).✌💕

My oldest sister was 28. He had an affair with his office assistant.1986! It was like he started over. I cried of what was suppose to be. I am a widow also very hard it is a different story. life worked out not like we wanted it too. Can I be your girlfriend? I am also a singer.Mostly studio work.

Then BE more patient! Don't wait for your sons to be more patient with you (I have 2 sons), be patient for your dad....TEACH them how to be, by example. I'm 53, and I just don't want my 2 sons being afraid/sad of me dying. I've made my peace with this life, and I'm fine with moving on. I don't want them to be scared, 'nor be sad for my moving on. But, kudos to you buddy, I just subscribed and liked, this is the most honest reaction I've seen to this video so far. So, that being said, and since I loved your reaction to this, I'd LOVE to see you react to "Disciple" - "Dear X"

What is it about the bond between a son and his father. I have seen this song in reactions so many times. First of i always end up in tears. And second of pretty much 99% of the males that react do the same.

If you love voices and as you are a singer, you cannot miss out Dimash. Start with SOS from the Chinese talent show the singer and I gaurantee you will.not be able to stop looking through all his other vids to react to. He has no genre, he has every genre.
