I bought a physical copy of God Hand a few years ago for like $50 on eBay and I felt like over payed for it, but nowadays based on Pricecharting it goes for like $130+ complete in box. That's insane! I also think that Metal Gear Rising already had a cult following, but it caught up more because of the new wave of memes that started showing up on Twitter and TikTok. Wow Dave sucks at this game...

And to be fair, aside from the end boss and the genesis sword jokes; the one thing I remember from that play-through is lyl talking about Brave Fencer Musashi and it’s sequel. Same scenario as Dark Souls, the community builds up expectations for what they think the game should be and when it doesn't meet the exact individual expectations of each one of them they cry about it.

I think it reflects on an individual's character how they react to Raiden. It always seemed to me that it was wannabe tough guys thinking a guy who didn't look, act and sound like a butch action hero was "gay" and then skipped all of the cutscenes Snake wasn't in. Basically, insecure losers. Which makes sense why his reception from MGS fans at the time was awful, it was mostly insecure teenagers buying it.
You do realize Raiden was made specifically to appeal to Japanese women, right? And that when mgs2 came out, all the fans were blind sided by his inclusion, when he was never mentioned as being the main character. People went in wanting snake, they got a Japanese idol from a boy band.
