I was watching EVERY anime this year... only 8 are left.

That's a lot of isekai
Wow, I only finished two of these.
@@kingdomkey63 there were a lot this season
Apparently I watched and enjoyed only ones that he didn't.
Also he didn't watch *every anime*, only 19 out of the 35.
Trigun discussion clearly indicates this was filmed before you watched the finale. :^) You should do that second video you were thinking about for it.
I really liked this concept. Hope you find this worth it and that you'll continue doing something similar in the future! Very entertaining :3
Agreed!
Here's a third endorsement
ofc he will continue doing this its his side hustle lol
I've been watching since the Log Horizon days. Lol.😅 Glass Reflections really grew up. Love the new format.
The MagiRevo anime cut down a lot on the world building compared to the light novel. It's pretty clear they wanted to cover up to the end of volume 3 within their episode count and so cut out stuff that was more extraneous to explicitly developing that core plot as well as stuff that existed to set up future material
Personally i thought the world building was fine.. but what connected the characters to it really didn't work if you know what i mean.. i dunno if that counts as world building.
The emotional drama was really good.. i could tell that.. but i just couldn't give a fuck about what the characters were going through. And the main arc involving Al just felt stupid to me for some reason I can't point out.
Like it does make sense that Al is doing it for making a country that would treat everyone as equal which in turn means his sister would be accepted as well.. but the actions he takes end up losing meaning when the mc duo are so easily able to do something that would move the world in a similar direction.. without needing sacrifices.. and that too just took them an episode and one big brain to overcome it.. and then considering the big brain was his ex fiance it makes even less sense.. and he knows her capabilities.
Like maybe you can say he got tricked into the wrong path by those researchers of ministers whatever they were.. but we never really get shown how.. and unless we get to see it it just doesn't make sense.
Overall i do like it for the animation and the emotional drama... It just didn't do enough to make me care about what happens to these characters in the future.
Yea, it is a REAL pity how much of the world building and some really badass/great scenes with Euphie berating nobles for insulting her wife :P the anime industry needs to learn to not force itself to "12 episodes" and give as many episodes as the content needs. If it only needs 8? Fine. If it needs 20? So be it. Don't limit shit!
That being said, his complaints still hold weight even if you said them about the source material. They DO still skip most of the assistant work that Euphie presumably does, and we just kind of have to accept that either she caught on really quickly or made the best of not knowing the technical details when presenting to the nobles.
that makes me want to read it more than I alr was XD
the show started strong but after about 2 episodes it changed into a "here, there and everywhere" format with no real plot or ending ... pity ... 12 episodes was really too little for this one to work properly ...
The show that caught me completely by surprise this year was Onimai. It started off kind of rough and I thought I would drop it after 3 episodes, but the way it quickly becomes a wholesome slice of life really took me by surprise. It had no business having such good animation and being so wholesome considering the premise
I wrote this show off for a while until I saw clips with a surprising amount of warmth. I decided to muscle through the sketchy first couple episodes to fine a show with more heart than the entire season line up combined. I still can't recommend it without mountainous asterisks... but it really is worth watching.
still sus anime tho
@@QWERTY-gp8fd super sus
Onimai is my AOTS
I have mixed feelings about that one. Beautifully animated, and the wholesome parts were great, but almost every episode there is a scene or two where I ask: did they have to?
Video about winter 2023: *has no Onimai*
Me: *sad*
A food anime that makes you hungry when you watch it is EXACTLY the kind of thing a food anime needs to do.
This video should just be called "My review on this season's isekai series" because that's all you watched
Glass reflection : I think I want to do an entire video on trigun stampede but that might not be great for the algorithm.
Me using this video as background noise while I work on the art for my second Trigun Stampede themed youtube video. "Well...there's a reason I'm small." XD XD XD Really enjoyed this one though, and I'm now looking forward to watching your choice of anime of the season!
Tristian, this is probably the most helpful video you’ve ever made! (for me that is) seasonal reviews at the beginning of the season are worthless to me, I only watch shows that are fully released and dubbed, this sort of video tells me three things, what’s finished and what’s good, (doesn’t really tell me what’s dubbed but if I watch this on my phone next to my TV logged into Crunchyroll I can sort of follow along) truly a fantastic type of video hope you keep it up 👍👍
I am usually doing something on a different program and just listen to videos like this, so most the time I had no idea what you were talking about. Like with the last one you were talking about a "farming isekai", and I thought; "wasnt that last season"... nope, completely different show apparently. Its like saying "have you seen that anime where someone gets isekaied and they tame a slime and become super over powered".... hmmm... which one, and I think it was last season or the season before that, where two anime had that same trope at the same time... we need to start sub-dividing the isekai genre it seems.
For me Handyman Saitou was my number 1 with Tomo-chan just below and Ningen Fushen number 3, they all took the standard formula and did something a little different with it.
19 seconds ago uploaded! Whoooo! Thanks for the hard work 😎🔥
Thanks Mr. Frosty man. Enjoy the format just don't burn out. Next season will be amazing
I heard Trigun Stampede by multiple sources that it was a prequel to the manga and the original anime series.
I'm actually really curious about all the shows that got dropped. Not as much the why, because losing interest is hard to quantify, but more of when the show got stale. If you're going to try and do this again next season, and you're keeping up with the weekly anime trending videos, I'd enjoy hearing a little update about the what's been cut from your list.
"seeing with my own eyes which shows I would watch instead of letting someone else decide for me"
My brother in Canada, that's why we watch you.
"Ladies and gentlement and others"
Do you have a large viewerbase of pets? Maybe rocks?
Thank you for your recommendations and reflection as always! I’d appreciate it if you could add chapters to your videos just so I can watch exactly the parts I want to and enjoy your content even more! 👍
The main character in 'Saving 80,000 Gold in Another World for My Retirement' is a pathological liar, and that really put me off this show.
I much prefer the accendance of a bookworm approach where the lead has to be careful and smart and her reckless abandon made it hard for me to root for her. Like, nah girl, you got yourself in this mess.
Where's the psychopathy?
She lies when she needs to, but Mitsuha is an empathic person who cares about people.
@@priestesslucy3299 I should have said "pathological liar." She has no issue with lying to others in order to manipulate them to her needs. Seeing someone like that prosper - no matter that she like animal young ones - put me off the series.
@@patrickmchargue7122 So she should just immediately tell people she has the magical ability to traverse worlds and paint herself as a witch to be reviled in the fantasy world or hunted for study in ours?
She was a stranger in a foreign land. Getting by requires a cover identity and circumstances may require changing that cover identity case by case.
She could have gotten 80000 gold so easily without all the extra stuff she does. Literally just shampoo and soap in her shop would make her soooo much money without so much work. I was literally screaming when she kept just giving out things like beef and fish. Also plastic. So I dropped it for my own mental health 🤣
I really want to see your opinion on trigun stampede now that season 1 is done I rather enjoyed it all
Eminence in Shadow was my anime of that season, but the chill farming one was a close second. I am still trying to catch up with all the shows I want to see though.
Does your opinion change on Stampede with the ending without spoilers? Explaining, uhh... Well, why certain main aspects of peoples issues with it like age, affiliates, ETC. were changed?
first video I've ever watched from you, I liked it, but I'm surprised series like Tomo-chan, Tenshi-sama or Buddy Daddies didn't even come up, I haven't seen the first video about this so I don't know if they were in the 39 animes you started with, I assume they were since it was the whole season, but well seeing the ones you ended up with I assume they just aren't your style since most of the ones you recommend here fall more into the "chill" category
I don't blame you for not putting Magical Revolution as your #1, you're probably not the target demographic for large chunks of it. I was definitely the target demographic though, so it was my #1 by far. However, I do agree they didn't focus on some of the other stuff as much as I'd have liked. 12 episodes just wasn't enough to squeeze in 3 LN volumes, but it did need to cover those 3 volumes to get to the excellent finale, so it may have been better off as a 2-cour season.
Yay! Another video uploaded and on my bday; I’ll take it 🙃
Campfire Cooking and Farming Life were massively slept on.
I cheacked my resolution 3 times, and then I noticed that the camera focused on mic...
Farming Life is the best, whole heartedly agree, couldn’t wait for the next episode to drop.
1:08 He wanted us to know he was following 3 sequels so bad that he told us twice.
5:15 ACTUAL START
great review!!!
Some surprising picks here, although i agree that a lot of them were good to great picks. (Although i am a sucker for Isekai)
Even though the harem elements occasionally drove me up the wall, I also enjoyed the farming anime.
Yayyy I miss your reviews!!
Farming God: I grant you the power to grow every seed you plant. EVERY seed.
Educate me gentle viewers. I've never seen the original Trigun and I know nothing about it. Is Stampede simply a remake of the original? I was thinking about watching Stampede soon and then maybe the original afterwards? Is that a good call?
If you want more depth to the world and politics from MagiRevo, all I can suggest is reading the light novels. They cut all of that for time.
You probably noticed this already, but the camera is focused on the mic and not you. Might want to double check that in the future.
A minute in, you say the "three sequels" part twice, and I cannot tell if that is an editing thing or a joke that I am not getting.
Surprised how different our lists are. We only share 3 shows, Tri-Gun, Magi-Revo and Campfire Cooking, and I finished like 17 shows. I was surprised how over represented Isekai were in your list. 6/8 total. I can't believe anyone would drop tomo chan in favor of 80,000 gold.
Farming Life in Another World was fantastic. Probably my favorite of the season too, so I'm not going to argue with you.
Nice, I agree with everything you’ve said about farming life, it was relaxing and fun
I've gotta finish 80k. I also loved camping, farming, and handyman. Handyman is my number 1.
Well, I’m definitely enjoying the monger of farming life. I’m on the first monger though, but I’m enjoying it. I’m definitely gonna keep reading it.
I will never accept Trigun Stampede as its existence is to replace the 90s original.
With all these isekai recommendations I felt like I was watching a Gigguk video.
_Chillin' in My 30s_ was basically an isekai in everything but name-only, only because Darius doesn't move from one world to another. I was really hoping that _The Magical revolution of the reincarnated Princess_ was going to very episodic in Anis and Euphie working on a different device every week but then there was this sinister coupe plot that the Prince was seemingly a part of but that's not what it ended up being at all and I was disappointed. And each episode would take Anis and Euphie to a different place in the kingdom. Like _Violet Evergarden._ But I did love the character interactions between all of the women and also Anis and the King.
Tomo chan is one of the best romcoms i've seen in recent times, suprised he didn't stick with it
It is the case. Respect to your opinion bro.
My anime of the season is easily Tomo. Can't knock a good unconventional romance.
Onimaii is the best of the season and also of the year, the animation, characters and plot, really amazing.
for me getting life in another world was also the anime I waited the most each week, IDK if I'll give it the above of the season award, but it was good
I had the same feelings for Trigun until the very end. Not sure if people would consider this a spoiler so I'll add it after a gap.😄
Once I realized that, while there ARE still some changes, this show is not just a remake but a prequel to the original story.
Yeah, as soon as I realized that July city was still up and running and Vash's bounty was somehow a lot smaller than it was in the original I started looking at the show as a prequel and it boosted my enjoyment a lot.
These titles are getting beyond the point of absurdity. Every season there's somewhere around 10 new shows with a name like "The Horny Teenage Shut-in Dies and is Reincarnated into a Fantasy World Where he Discovers he has a Special Ability, Becomes Overpowered, Gets a Harem, and Goes on an Adventure to Beat the Big Bad Guy". If the name of your show is a paragraph long, maybe it's time to think of a better name.
Hell yeah ❤thanks glass reflection your awesome.
how about making list top 10 anime with satisfying ending that you would recommend?
For me, Magical Revolution and Tomo Chan are my anime of the season. Though I liked Farming Life, too, the novel sounds more interesting
With Trigun Stampede, I watched the original show and I find Stampede to be a worthy reinterpretation of the story. I'm not a fan of CG animation in general, but I came with an open mind and there were several moments where the animation impressed me. I'm still not sure how I feel about the ending of the season though.
With regards to this video, I started skipping around after a while, and it's nothing but a bunch of "another world/reincarnated" paragraph-long title trash.
Danmachi had its best season by far (and only season 2 was not excellent compared to 1 and 3) and no mention. My son and I are still in season 2 of Bungo Stray Dogs but are enjoying it immensely and no mention. Eminence in Shadow was an absolute blast and no mention.
I thought it was strange when you just skipped over Danmachi when it had such a good ranking, but now it makes sense.
80,000 was a great idea poorly written. She actively made the dumbest decisions and then people reacted the way the show needed them to to stay lighthearted.
AGREE WITH YOUR AOTS!!! either that or Onimai :D
11:07 what is this music, it sounds so familiar, I need to know, someone help please!
Thank you for tha video and recommendations
I really need to watch your Upcoming Anime This Season videos to know what to watch. Allow me to thankyou in advance whenever I have the time :)
Campfire anime MC reminds of shaggy with those clothes
So stampede is like Fullmetal Alcamist. It started the same than like half way in they told a different story. Oh mini gun girl is not their. Just waving a large heavy gun like it was just a dumbbell lol. That's sad she not in the new anime.
*Spoilers*
The timeline here is a bit wacky. Milly gets announced to be joining Meryl in the last episode when she joins the insurance society. And most importantly, Vash gets his classic hair back and his angel arm is seen again \o/ It was a fantastic finale for basically being a prequel to the original, while at the same time, replacing the first 12 episodes of the original with this world-building series. This is almost like a mix of the anime/manga as a prequel, but different too. Hopefully I haven't butchered this explanation >_

@@hush9185 We're all here having a civilized discussion. No one likes a grammar nazi who has nothing of value to add to the conversation.
I've chosen 17 anime seasons to watch from winter 2023, five of them being sequels. But I never watch anime weekly, I always binge it. To date I already completed 11 of them, and I'm pretty sure I'll not drop any of the rest (however "Misfit of the Demon King Academy" is doing uncle from the other world thing, so I swapped it for the show with dog transformation)
I've completed 7 of the 9 shows discussed in this video and have no intention in watching other two (In/Spectre and Trigun Stampede) so overall our opinions and tastes kinda matching, I like it.
Here are the scores I gave to already watched shows on MyAnimeList:
8/10 - Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? IV Part 2
8/10 - The Magical Revolution of the Reincarnated Princess and the Genius Young Lady
10/10 - Farming Life in Another World
7/10 - Chillin' in My 30s after Getting Fired from the Demon King's Army
7/10 - The Reincarnation of the Strongest Exorcist in Another World
9/10 - By the Grace of the Gods 2
6/10 - Handyman Saitou in Another World
7/10 - Saving 80,000 Gold in Another World for My Retirement
6/10 - Reborn to Master the Blade: From Hero-King to Extraordinary Squire ♀
10/10 - Campfire Cooking in Another World with My Absurd Skill
6/10 - The Iceblade Sorcerer Shall Rule the World
@@Kostyurik I do find it interesting you ranked Reborn to Master the Blade the same as Iceblade Sorcerer and they're both ranked so low when you're recommending it lol.
I couldn't get into Iceblade Sorcerer, but Reborn to Master the Blade was my jam this season. Debatably my number 1 of the new shows this season [but behind Bofuri and Misfit]
I watched chillin in my 30's it wasn't about chilling at all I almost quit until not Aqua arrived. It was pretty obvious the twists.... I guess I'm glad I watched it but like you, I don't know if I would recommend it.
saving 80,000 Gold I watched too. I guess the girl was really likeable and it was chill. Except it was killing me how loose she was with contaminating the other world. then it turned into Gate and wow!. so I liked it but who would be the target audience?
Saito was my favorite this season. kind of a slow burn but it caught fire and was awesome to me.
These are a few of the non sequels from last season not mentioned that I would recommend.
/.Malevolent Spirits: Mononogatari
/.REVENGER
/.Buddy Daddies
If the title's of the next 2 don't completely scare you off they were also quite fun to watch 🙃.
/.My Life as Inukai-san's Dog
/.ONIMAI: I'm Now Your Sister!
Where is Shadow? Peak of anime Comedy…
Soooo..... i dropped exorcist and never started spectre, but apart from that. Yeah, nice. I also kept hikari no ou and nokemono tachi despite being bad. And hero academia was genuinely good this run
I must disagree with your opinion about"chillin i my 30s", i love that that kind of premise does that
Realized almost the entire way through this video that Tsurune (aka pretty archer boys) was missing from your sequel section, and this makes me sad. I think you'd like it.
Beautiful, atmospheric show, with the second season a great improvement on the first. My second favourite this season, after Tomo-chan.
Anime Farming in another Life is great. Then I learned that manga goes into the harem of girls are raping him to get offspring. I loved it even more.
The mic is in focus
campfire cooking is my anime of the season
I experienced a similar thing, although I only picked 17 series to watch and ended with 2 great and 6 good series. My biggest disappointment was The Magical Revolution of the Reincarnated Princess and the Genius Young Lady. The animation and character-arc’s were good but the story-arc pacing was terrible and the story arc was poor and the trajectory changed in a random manner which caused me to lose interest. But I have to admit this is the best season i have every experienced. I hope it continues.

Title: literally evry seasonal viewer
I'm really thinking in dropping the princess one, to me it went down hill very quick when SPOILERS she just got Magic anyways, the saving money Made me like more ascendente of the bookworm, in this one prtagonist just gets her ways with no repercution, while in bookworm Mine gets punished for not think the consecuenses of introducing top products to the market, vinland saga is amazing, loved this season, I was thinking in skipping since didn't care that much for first season ( to me was just anoter battle anime, just more bloody) but man this one was amazing, glad to know is stil going deeper
I hope you finish trigun stampede the final episode is worth it.
I watched chilling in my 30s to the end but the last 3 or 4 episodes were meh. I mean I was more than happy when the MC gets the girl halfway through the show. That’s damn near a plot twist in and of itself. But the more of an action/harem show it got the less I was interested. But, again, I did finish it out.
I’m not even gonna lie, I’m not that interested in food cooking and the only slice of life I like is bocchi but for campfire cooking Sui being adorable is the only this I need to watch it
Oh dear.
Honestly, I saw the original when it first came out (because I'm old) and I honestly like Stampede more. This one just feels a lot stronger.
Also, I can't put my finger on why, but the most recent episode of Vinland Saga just felt like one of the strongest episodes of an anime I've ever seen.
Mine was probably sugar apple fairytale. Felt pretty mid on most of the stuff I watched this season.
Nice hair
I'm not sure if I'm more annoyed at the amount of Isekai shows generally or the amount of them on this specific list.
This is a joke, of course, but seriously...why so many?!
Don't understand people that watch "seasonal" anime. Like you don't have anything else to do? So many great series and whole seasons to watch.
i think you should give Kaina another shot, but otherwise yeah Revolution feel off really hard and was a pretty poor adaptation on the LN, so much so that the ending was just 3 episodes of me being frustrated and confused it was handled that poorly, it completely disregarded a lot of what it set up. Also not quite sure i'd call you in the minority for saying Farming Life as your best of season, most people either chose Farming Life, Angel Next Door or Saitou as their bests of season, Farming Life was amazing and quite relaxing and i agree that the ways it went to not be as horny as the manga were funny by themselves lol
Shout out for Nagatoro S2. My best romance of the season.
Bad focus setting for the camera.
trigun stampede stole the season for me. i hadnt seen any trigun before but after watching stampede i read the manga and watched the 98 anime. some things about 98 really bugged me, especially in comparison to the manga, so im really enjoying stampede as an adaptation of the manga specifically lol
To your eternity
So I did enjoy 2 other shows this season.
I enjoyed Tomo-chan Is a Girl because they put real reasons behind the characters' actions for why they act the way they do which, for a comedy anime, I didn't expect. And it's one of the few romance shows that also concludes and doesn't string the audience along forever. Which was more surprising since Chillin in my 30s is that way too!
The other show was Onimai. First off, they didn't need to go so hard on the animation and art direction they did but I'm so glad they did. And while I know people who were turned off due to some of the more ecchi stuff in the first couple episodes due to the main characters age, I think a lot of that had to do with culture shock. As the show went on, the more wholesome nature of it really started to shine and was one of my "feel good" shows this season.
I'm not sure how I managed to convince myself to watch Oniimai, but in the end I'm glad I did.
That finale was so adorable
Onimai is weird, for one I like it, but the show could have functioned without the onichan thing, she could have been an imotou and nothing would change (at the point I am)
Tomo-chan is great, althougth is weird hearing Naruto as an actual sexy girl, also Carol Best girl of the seasson, and runner for BG of the year
Hell yes.. Onimai, Tomo-chan and Nagatoro were my top favorites of the season.
When I watched the last episode of Tomo-chan I was absolutely shocked. It's so rare these days to actually watch a season of anime and get a fucking ENDING. I'm so happy it had an actual conclusion instead of stringing you along for 24 episodes over 2 seasons then get canceled before any resolution. It's truly a breath of fresh air with all the "read the manga" shows that come out.
Don't apologize so much for not liking so many things, people are too sensitive to opinions on fiction. You don't owe anyone who complains anything.
Good video Glass. Can't wait to here your opinion on Peakland Saga session 2, next season.
I'm sad that "Kaina of the Great Snow Sea" wasn't mentioned. It'a really excellent sci-fi fantasy story, and the characters are well developed and likeable. I wish more people gave it another chance.
Terrible story
I probably going to watch it after angel next door.
Did it get some twist at the end? I dropped it arround 2/3 when it didn't deliver anything new to it's worldbuilding since episode 3.
I need to circle back and finish the last four episodes of that.
Having watched it, it's literally just a movie cut into 20 minute chunks.
And it doesn't even have an ending.
Just watch the actual movie it partially ripped off: Patema Inverted.
