@@lorettarussell2823 No - I was initially at RAF Hereford, then Acklington in Northumberland where I met the lady who has been my wife for 57 years this April.
My uncle told me that when he was on leave in Southsea, at the corner of Kings Road, and Castle Road, Canadian soldiers were clearing/diffusing an unexploded bomb, which went off killing 17 of them. He missed it by five minutes.
Last photo is taken to far up Newcomen Road as Bill Stillwell Court back down the road is where the landmine? V1? V2 ? hit as can be seen by matching white flats up with today's photo!
V1 I saw it arrive, the motor stopped just as we were getting to the shelter in the garden, so from that point just above the Eastern Road to finally hit Stamshaw.
I was born in Portsmouth in 1943 and lived there until I joined the RAF in 1960. These photos evoke many memories of my time there.

I’ve always said you can blame the Germans for some of the awful architecture in Portsmouth
