Praying for Jon''s soul in this world that has so much to throw his way. I can only imagine what he experiences in the industry. Praying his own words from an old, but amazing song of his over him: Lord, "please don't let my soul drown in the luxury". What a talented producer and artist. I truly feel as though music is a form of worship to God. I know how I feel listening to his music at times. I'm just in awe of God and how he created a man with such gifts and talents. May Jon encounter the Lord in such new, tangible, and amazing ways as he continues on his journey of music.
What a flood of emotions. It’s so cool to see the other comments on how much this song has meant to them as much as it’s meant to me. To all my fellow friends just remember we were meant to live! God bless 🙏🏻
@@christopherm6725 Oh, that. When I said Jon I did mean Jon Bellion. Had assumed after reading the whole OPs comment one would grasp but I see it’s not so obvious now 🫣.
I’m not a Jon Bellion fan, but Switchfoot was really excited about this cover, so I’m happy for everyone involved. It is cool for Bellion to honor Switchfoot as a childhood inspiration. The string arrangement was beautiful !!
Definitely recommend The Human Condition if you haven't heard it before. I genuinely believe it's one of the best albums of all time. Jon is incredibly talented and creative.
@@EgaTehPro agreed. All I would listen to before Covid, so many memories that I wish I could repeat whenever I hear his album, its tough to even go back and listen to it honestly cause its that special to me and the crap I went through at the time...
I thought this spectacular song should be honored so I played it on a crisp, clear & loud speaker at the beach. The waves of the Pacific Ocean, the sun's rays on the water, the birds in flight, all in unity with the symphony, Jon's voice, and JF's brilliant song writing... EPIC.
I grew up listing to switchfoot, along with many other Christian artists, every time those guitar rifts from meant to live came on idk it always stirred a fire inside me even now as an adult and still vary much listening to it, it has that same energy and effect it always has. I never get tiered of hearing it. Switchfoot has been a massive impact on me. Much love Jon I’ll be praying for you and for you guys.
Not normally do I think versions like this are better but dude you blew this one out of the water brought a whole Nother rawness to the song I’ve never felt these specific lyrics the same way until now. As always Jon thank you. Please make more music for us😭😭
It’s crazy to think that 7 years ago I found out about Jon. He turned out to be my biggest inspiration to make it in this life. And helped me through a lot of self-demons I had as a young adult. I’ve seen him in concert twice since then. And was close to a third before the pandemic. The way he writes music and composition whether it is for Halsey, Bieber, or katy perry is done so gracefully. I hope Jon comes back to music one day and starts one last “goodbye” tour. Thank you for this song Jon!💙
Moved to tears. I always thought the original instrumental was too abrasive for how beautiful the lyrics were. This edit really makes the gorgeous, touching lyrics shine. Jon Bellion does it again
I have loved getting to see Jon through his faith journey. In human he is clearly singing about that God sized hole in you that nothing but God can fill. Even if he didnt realize it at the time to Stupid deep where he is struggling to let go and give himself up. To this, just amazing.
This song saved my life in 2003. That February, I was becoming a teenager and still reeling from childhood trauma and dramatic family life changes at the same time, not to mention in the middle of a war. I was in so much despair that I did not want to be alive anymore. This song had just been released a few weeks before and was playing everywhere. I almost removed myself, but I didn't go through with it. I still didn't see how my life and the things I went through would make sense in my future, but this song promised I was meant to live for more and that I had it in me. I'm 33 now, and I've been faced with even more trauma in the years between, but I still believed I was meant for something. A year and a half ago, after quite some healing time in therapy, I finally found what I was meant to do. I spend every day helping people who are going through the very same traumas I witnessed as a child and through my adult life. When I heard this cover the other day, it was incredible to be able to hear this song for the "first time" yet again. The beauty bowled me over and felt like triumph to me. A reflection on me actually making it, ACTUALLY living for something more and finding myself. I know lots of us have a strong connection to this song; it was such a fragile time in the world when it came out. I'm so thankful to Switchfoot and Jon for the two masterpieces they have given us in this song and cover.
I didnt know who Jon Bellion was. First take had me wondering. Then I replayed it and now can't stop playing on repeat, it speaks to my soul. His other stuff is 🔥 too
Congratulations Switchfoot for being the vessel that carries GOD'S messages to humanity and your willingness to deliver it like only you can. Beautiful cover
This is just amazing. I am so glad i found this when i was on vacation at the jersey shore. Looking at the sea & the stars listenjng to this was just perfect. Ty jon 🙏
ARE YOU F'ING SERIOUS!!! This song and dare you to move were songs that shaped my pre-teen and early teen years. Jump to now and Jon is my favorite artist of all time and you guys do this!? Thank you so much... I'm a death metal musician and i pretty much only go to death metal and hardcore shows, but i went to Jon's danish show in 2019 and it was amazing. You guys are pinnacle for doing this.
I've listened to the original so many time but forgot about it. I've been going through a really dark time in my life and this is what I needed to hear.
Let's NOT FORGET that all the symphony's, Stings, Violins, and all that is JON BELLION as well in some form. Whether it was someone he hired to play the Violin or not. This man is a Modern day Mozart. Big salute to Switchfoot and Jon Bellion.
LYRICS [Verse 1] Fumbling his confidence And wondering why the world has passed him by Hoping that he's bent for more than arguments And failed attempts to fly, fly [Chorus] We were meant to live for so much more Have we lost ourselves? I just cried because I love Jon and I love this song. I didn’t realize that it was Jon’s cover till I was like this is not the original, I questioned it and im like 🤔Jon? I looked down and got teary eyed🥲🥲❤️. Thank you UA-cam for recommending this masterpiece.❤️❤️
I'm one of Jon's biggest fan was worried of only a few release after all these years. He comforts me the way I like. I was really worried about the very few releases for a time now. I'm an artist and I'm in that kind of phase right now. Nothing happens the way I like or plan, doubting all my decisions just waiting for someone or something to comfort me. And now (a few minutes ago) . I was sleeping and I woke up after a dream. It was many things and at the end I had this fruit with me and something said this is all you have now.. Nothing else.. I woke up not understanding anything and saw this post of Jon bellion in IG, about this song and the release was today. Immediately came to see this and lost it in just halfway. This really hit hard and it SPEAKS TO ME. The depression I was in, the dream, the song post and listening to the song all happened in like 30 mins.. I feel this song was made for me... -Love you Jon. You may not know man there are a few people here just waiting for your works. The creativity and songwriting fuels us in our way. Please don't stop this..
Stunning!🌺What a voice; breathtaking! The instruments shake my core & these lyrics pause me still in my tracks- I cannot get enough!! Beautiful so Beautiful!!
Jon NEVER disappoints! His highs notes are flipping crazy! His voice in general is angelic. But yet he's still underrated as crap!! This song brings so much emotion
This is it people your witnessing a one ok a kind artist Jon is the very definition of virtuoso a director an orchestrater of emotion. This is truly the definition of a remix or cover taking the song and making it completely different the original is hard rock emoticon rock leaves with you a sense of despair but Jon’s voice adds an element of hope Serenity. Jon’s voice enacts emotions I can’t feel from modern music. I want Jon Bellion to stay “underated” beautiful music meant to be heard by those who listen

My thoughts exactly my brother. I see 93 in your name, '94 here. Goosebumps from head to toe man.... God
Exactly this.
100000% 😭
Seriously though. And his voice encompasses a different side of this song that I didn’t know existed.
HOW IS THIS NOT TRENDING!!! FULL. BODY. CHILLS. Great work Jon and Team!

Jon bellion is my favorite artist and I love this version. But man, the guitar rift is so iconic to leave out completely
It's too jon bellion esque to not have a orchestral ballad though...
Why would he add something that couldn't be duplicated BECAUSE of how iconic it is?
