I put a double din unit in my w203. Went with a dual unit yes cheap. Got everything i need with wires all connected up just plug and play from crutchfield.
I will check that out. But I think I’m gonna go with the Apple car play
EdgeMonster could you please send me the number/model of the connector you got from crutchfield? I have a w203 and I am fighting to figure out the bunch of cables and connectors and interfaces I need to use to get my android unit working properly!! Thanks in advance
Damm love the video!, I wish you can also do a installing a Android Head unit for the Mercedes W203
I believe it’s the same process! But If I was upgrading my w203 radio unit I would have done a video also
Great video. Have u looked in to MEWANT Suede Car Steering Wheel Cover for Mercedes Benz W211 C209 C219 W463 R230. Will really look good
Awesome recommendation! Just looked them up myself super clean. I have the tan steering wheel I wonder if if the black suede would look funky against the tan
@@bruceleemuhammadali i did on mine they look pretty good and the steering feels very nice
I’m gonna have to check it out! I think something with like the RPM led lights will look pretty awesome and modern
You can activate apple car play and Android Auto by using the Carlin kit dongle. I got that activated in my C-class W203.
I’m not sure if mine has that. I know it has a cable with the old Apple plug in, kinda looks like for the iPods
Man been wanting to upgrade my unit! Quality content per usual! 🙏
Thanks! I will be going with the Apple car play, I think you should whenever you are ready. It will be a lot quicker in terms of processor speed and compatible with iPhones
So, do you need the optical adapter if you have the upgraded Bose sound system?
Mine has it and i'm not sure, and i don't wanna spend 90€ on something i might not need.
Mine is a 2002, so same style as yours.
You are probably going to need it. Have you removed the unit to check to see if you need it? I show it in the video on if you will need it.
I have 2004 Mercedes benz clk 500 Bose system fiber optic non navigation , I’m looking for a stereo harnes to addd a after market stereo what do you recommend???❤❤❤
I’m still trying to figure that out myself. A friend send me a link for a whole system that you can check outko.aliexpress.com/item/1005004480854101.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.0.0.53795c31VGmj7a&algo_pvid=fb74bdfe-a92a-4384-af78-df2a1b285e84&algo_exp_id=fb74bdfe-a92a-4384-af78-df2a1b285e84-16&pdp_ext_f=%7B%22sku_id%22%3A%2212000029311902161%22%7D&pdp_npi=2%40dis%21CAD%2142.02%2137.81%21%21%2110.91%21%21%402103399116642941631866638e751a%2112000029311902161%21sea&curPageLogUid=xmQFtGCk8fcR
What is the new unit? Also what is the correct optic decoder for a 04 clk500?
The correct optic fiber box I needed was the D2d decoder. But they still ended up sending me the correct box. And still didn’t work because I their little is missing the correct wire harness for my car
Broooo I just installed one yesterday on my o4 c230k! I have to enroll in some bogus membership to use phone link. And I can't upload Netflix or Hulu for some reason
Really?!? You should be able to install which ever app in the google play store
Bypass the optic fiber with from phone module and cd changer and it works like a charm!
I’m gonna have to figure out how to bypass them
Can you explain in more detail?
if you have you aux port in the passenger glove compartment, do you know which of the wires that runs from the aux port is the one that connects into the headunit? pretty sure my aux port wire to the headunit has a short in it somewhere on the line because whenever i go over a big bump, my sound cuts out on the left side. sometimes if i unplug the battery and plug it back in it fixes it, but its hit or miss because sometimes it doesnt fix it. im assuming the aux wire that runs to the headunit needs to be redone, so hopefully you can lmk which of the wires is the one for the aux?
Honestly i'm not sure. I have never used the aux cord on the head unite! I use a bluetooth FM transmitter so much easy than messing with wires if you decide to go that route
I just got one of these cars. There is an aux port in the glove box, but I have no idea how to activate it on the head unit. Any advice? thx.
I have a clk 500 my battery drains after two days do you know what the problem is !
I responded to your last comment. I think your comment posted twice
You got a lose wire somewhere, or a fryed control unit. Disconnect you're computer boards under both seats and see if that helps
I have a 2004 clk500 and thinking about doing the same thing. I did some research and I believe you ordered the wrong fiber optic decoder. It's suppose to be a d2b decoder for my 04 clk. At 9:30 it looks like the plug didn't click into the decoder and you said it fits perfect. That's why there's no sound.
I noticed that’s and told the company about the issue. They realize they sent the wrong decoder and later sent me the correct decoder but I still wasn’t getting sound because they didn’t have the plug in for the amp to enable sound.. I spoke with them about it and they said everything looked correct…
@@HeyboysGarage I think the decoder gets the sound from the front speaker wires so I am not sure why there's no sound.
I have a clk 500 my battery drains after two days do you know what the problem is please let me know??!!
Honestly I can’t tell you the answer because it could be anything. But what I know that’s common is the passenger seat module sometimes can do that. Unplug it and see if it drains the battery 🪫
Parasitic draw
Same issue , it was my radio power still running although my car was turned off
@@jaynichols2480 unplug the power seats on both passenger and driver side and see if that helps
I just think comand 2.0 dx in clk doesn have fibre optic amp. That fibre optic connector which you put in decoder is going to glovebox to cd changer. CD changer is connected via fibre optic to original radio and thats only fibre optic cable in original config. The gray square connector is original for gps antenna, so on the new radio shouldnt be connected because you have new gps antenna with SMA conector. That long black connector is originally for aux, located in glovebox, so it shouldnt be connected too....so greetings for "professionals" in shop which doesnt study anything about clk with comand navigation radio
Mine doesn't have the CD changer, i don't need the optic decoder then?
@@TopiasSalakka Yes you need it, the optics are main source of audio signal. If you have this Command 2.0 head unit you need "D2B" converter and if you have newer one then its "MOST" converter as he has in video. I do have the older version with CD changer, phone in armrest and amplifier in the trunk, its all connected together with fiber optics.
@@-mizmar I don't have a CD changer or Comand, just the regular head unit with a CD player + Bose.
@@TopiasSalakka If you dont have Command then probably not. Just take then headunit out and check if there is fiber optics connection. If not then you dont need it.
