Great job Katie. Your chickens are going to enjoy their new locations. The brushy area where the chair was imbedded looks great so far as well. Nate, I know you and Jim must have accomplished a lot because you are so tired. Have a Blessed day.
Yes, NAte is worn out with all the house work but we hope that another full week of work will get us ready to move on to electrical. FIngers crossed.
Looks like you both were rockstars today. Katie, you did so much on your own. ❤
Great job to both of you - Nate on the house remodel and Katie doing cleanup outside and chicken moves.
New grass area for chickens. 🐓💚 Wall is done!🎉🎉 Great progress😊
Good morning Nate and Katie
Good job Katie moving all those chickens and their coops holy moly!!!! The chickens seem happier in their new homes. Looking good, can’t wait to see it all done. Kinsley is too funny you giving her water in the smaller bucket and she drinks from the big bucket. The old coop areas would be a good place to start gardening in. As all the weeds are gone and there’s chicken poop there which will help your gardens grow. Just a thought. Good job Katie with working with the tractor pushing out all that brush growth. 😃👍💪🙌
Large moves like this are hard work but hopefully soon they will all be in a good place and closer together for easier maintenance and sales.
Sounds like you will just about start from scratch in your garden, I will offer a couple of tips you might like. I live on a rock with little native soil so all our beds are raised. We have deer, so we had to install a 7’ HD fence to keep them out. It was tough, and the fence is crooked but it works. That was about 15 years ago. Since we added berry patches around the outside and we used PVC pipe, rebar and HD deer netting. Pound rebar in the ground then a 3 foot piece of 3/4 PVC a cross and another piece of PVC going up, 2 going left and right to connect tees at the top of the posts. This makes the fence much sturdier. Before attaching the netting I put down 6”x 40” black rubber matting to keep the weeds out of the netting, making it easy to mow or string trim. Zip tie everything except the top. You need to be able to roll back the netting on the top as snow gets stuck in it and the weight will bring all down. We have learned all this over time. I will try and sent you some photos, they it will be clearer. We saw hares arrive this year, I made a base board all the way around of Hardie board to keep them out, it’s working the Hardy board sits on the matting and I zip tied it to the PVC posts. They can’t get in. Buy you pipe in 20’ lengths and a plumbers supply same with fittings. You will need a cross and a tee for each post and 90 Deg elbows at any corner. If you Goggle PVC Connectors you can buy 4 or 5 branch connectors, on Amazon.
WOW, you have quite the setup. Yes, we are rethinking the garden areas and how we will set them up. Adding a greenhouse to the area and some berries. It will not be a large animal garden but it should be good to keep us fed.
I don’t know what Facebook is doing. I haven’t seen your other channel where the work was being done. You’re so busy with the animals. I love them too. Take care.
Nothing like a few days off from work to help you get things done. Great job guys.
You got that right! Its nice to be able to focus time on a project or two.
Gave kudos to Nate and Jim, and now Katie gets kudos for all the chicken coop moves and refreshening!!
Katie is the boss,
You are both gonna need a vacation with all the work you have done. Looks great.
That where the greenhouse should go. Where you were planting potatoes
I love these, hearing you chat… but I had a thought… could you put out on the other channel every so often a walkabout with nature like your brook vids… so with the actual sound and some with your favorite playlists?
Maybe Levi is confused by all the moving around of coops and is only trying to get that little white chicken back where he thinks it should be?
Possibly, the little splash cochin has been freeranging in that area since it was with mom.
What container are you using for their dust bath? And what do you put in it? We need a Chicken 101 series!
Its just a cheap litter box I picked up at a discount store. I put dirt and DE in in for the chickens. If the garden had done what it was supposed to it would also have herbs in it.
thats alot to move these coops around. Is it possible to just leave them in place?
Of course but we have too many different flocks to allow them to all free range so for now we want to give them fresh space and we will figure out a method for rotational free ranging.
do you all still have your sheep have not seen them lately
We do. We actually talked about them and episode or two back. They are doing well.
Chickens are too much work for what you get. I never heard about moving chickens constantly. It's ridiculous. All you have to do is cut some greens or food scraps and throw them in. You are a slave to your chickens.
We are moving them to get them all closer together and make them easier to maintain...these coops had been in one spot for about a year.
Hello, Nate and Katie.
You are both getting a lot done.
Things are coming along.
YEs, there are lots of projects in motion.
