Best fish food that’s cheap is small cat food the fish in our lake love it!! It’s really cool that y’all have a working pond now!! The hard part is keeping the water from evaporating now

Thanks! I’ll keep that in mind. Yeah I think the well water will help keep the pond levels up when needed.

You could have put a depth marker pole in while the pond was dry

Fish pellets work great ( like chum ) and bait fish like spinners and far heads and minnows ! Why oh why did you put that gar in there ? They are one of the worst fish in a pond you could have , they eat everything ! The water will give then enough oxygen because of the surface size of your pond if you could throw in bushes and whole small trees for hiding places for your smaller fish 2 or 3 will help a lot ! A couple dozen minnows to start with would be good !

Thanks Dave! No I didn't put the gar in the pond. It's in my son's aquarium LOL!

My only issue with minnows is the cost. I'm pretty sure that will add up quickly. I probably need to come up with some kind of live feeder system though.

@@24acresofparadise the deer feeder type system works well on a timer ( broadcast type ) I’m told . Minnows are not cheap unless you trap them yourself , minnow traps are easy to make or contact your DNR to see if they have stocking programs where they give you fingerlings and feed and you raise them and they come and remove some for area lakes and you keep the rest !
