    The list I placed at the end of this video is by no means a complete list of volcanoes showing signs of unrest. For example, Mount Aso would be placed at "significant unrest" and "Mount Ontake" would be placed at "Major Unrest".

    Etna still has to be one of the prettiest volcanoes in the world. The lava fountain show it produces every time are spectacular and huge. Luckily no one lives on the slopes.

    Your reports on Mt. St. Helens are interesting partly because I live downwind from her. I thought your readers would like to know that the traditional Native American name for the mountain can be translated as 'the angry little sister'. St Helens is about 35 miles SW from Mt. Adams, known as Phato, or Klickitat to the Yakama Nation. Their oral traditions record a time when Mt. Adams and Mt. Hood were fighting over the Angry Little Sister. Hood knocked Adams' head off in the battle. This suggests all three were active at the same time. Sometime in the recent geological past Adams lost about 500 feet of elevation in a violent eruption.

    • @GeologyHub
      @GeologyHub  2 роки тому +9

      Potentially that may tell of an era around ~4900-5500 BC. It’s the only time I’m aware of where margins of error give the possibility of 3 simultaneous eruptions.

      I live in Washington and have always been fascinated by our volcanoes. This is new information to me so I appreciate it very much. I had been laughed at before when I suggested the sisters may one day go off at the same time.

    • @SpaceLover-he9fj
      @SpaceLover-he9fj 2 роки тому

      Probably, although the flat summit was caused by the fact that adams was contrucyed by multiple vents, giving it a broad shape from north to south.

    With all the eruptive activities of Etna these last few years, especially last year, the South-East Crater and New South-East Crater have pretty much merged according to Boris. So now it's just South-East Crater, which recently became the current summit of the overall edifice.

If so, what are the causes? In essence, a global report on the state of global volcanic activity. Thanks for your efforts to inform and educate us.

    • @cope9489

      Yes, when gas bubbles up under a ship, the bouyancy force of the ship drops significantly because there's less water under it and that can cause it to sink
