    I have a better understanding of perms watching your videos than I did in school. It's been a real blessing while I study for my state board. Thank you so much.

      I am so glad you found it helpful. In the new year I am striving to release a video a week. Be sure to share with anyone you know that they could help!

    I’ve gotten and given air oxidized perms and loved them. Can’t find anyone who does them. What would be the best perm on the market today.

      I am so glad it helped. I think most of us dreaded perms while in school, especially the science behind it. Glad this helped you!

    People think that under the dryer perms take better than the exothermic perms, but I myself think it’s how you wrap and choose the rollers & distribute the solution thoroughly. Am I correct in thinking this?

    I know this is an older video, but I am struggling to find the answer straight out. Can someone who has already used an Acid wave (3 months ago--short hair) switch to an Alkaline wave for their retouch?

    • @TheIntentionalClassroom
      @TheIntentionalClassroom  3 роки тому +3

      Yes! Absolutely. The active ingredient in both is thioglycolic acid, so there should be no conflict there. 😊

    Love this. Thnx. What’s the difference between a Exothermic perm and a Alkaline perm?

    I really enjoy your videos and I share them with my students. Thank you so much. I also play the piano and was wondering what piano piece that was playing during the acid perm portion of your presentation?

      I am so glad you shared it with students! I believe the song is called Gnossiennes: III. Lent. By Erik Satie. I was a classical piano player in my life before hair school and this is one of my favorites to get lost in!

    I am so glad I found you!! Now for a question.. is there a acid perm you would recommend? I have previously highlighted hair and now a level 4/5. I’d like to add a soft curl/ wave to my hair.
    Thank you kindly! 💫

    Does an acid perm have that awful smell?

    • @TheIntentionalClassroom
      @TheIntentionalClassroom  3 роки тому +1

      Unfortunately yes. The smell comes from the sulfur atoms in the hair releasing from the disulfide bonds.

      @@TheIntentionalClassroom Dang. Thanks for answering:)
      I've dealt with mild sulfur smells when rinsing relaxer and ammonia isn't much of a bother, but when I did a perm for the first time the fumes were sickening. Guess I better order a good mask lol

      Alkaline perms are best for Hard To Wave hair, Normal To Wave hair and Healthy Color - Treated hair where Long - Lasting, FIRM Curls or Waves are desired, should not be used on Bleached, Heavily Highlighted ( Over 50% ) or dry, damaged hair. Acid Perms can be used on any hair type but tend to produce Softer, more Flexible curl and may not sufficiently curl Hard To Wave, Healthy Normal or very Long hair ( Longer Than Shoulder Length ). Exothermic Perms work best on hair with varying porosity or finer hair types. Endothermic Perms are best for hair in less than ideal condition as they process slower allowing some ‘Wiggle Room’ before over-processing. Other Perm Types are: No - Thioglycolate Perms that use a processing agent that causes less damage. Bisulfite Perms than can be used for a Very Soft Perm that causes so little damage the hair can be Re-Permed when it begins to wilt and can be used to Perm Healthy Bleached Hair or as a “Temporary Perm” that fades away after a few weeks leaving the hair virtually undamaged.
