  • 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle LS6 454 - The Last One?-Muscle Car Of The Week Video Episode #182
    The 1970 LS6 Chevelle featured in the video is suggested to potentially be the last of its kind based on the VIN tag and the date stamp on the trim tag. According to the information provided, it was assembled in Kansas City in the third week of July 1970, which matches the production timeline known for these cars. Additionally, the VIN number falls at the end of the sequence, indicating that it could indeed be the very last LS6 Chevelle produced for the 1970 model year.
    However, it's important to note that while this claim is plausible based on the available information, without comprehensive production records, it can be challenging to definitively confirm whether this specific car was the absolute final LS6 Chevelle built in 1970.
    Regardless of whether it's conclusively the last one or not, the significance of this particular LS6 Chevelle lies in its rarity and the historical context of being a high-powered, iconic muscle car from that era. The LS6 engine, known for its performance capabilities, was a standout feature in these Chevelles, making them highly sought after by collectors and muscle car enthusiasts.
    The car showcased in the video is presented as an original and well-maintained example, sporting the LS6 engine, a Muncie 4-speed transmission, and other performance enhancements typical of the SS package. Its black cherry color scheme, white SS stripes, and functional cowl induction hood add to its appeal, blending aggressive styling with high performance.
    Ultimately, whether this specific LS6 Chevelle is the last one built or not, it remains a prized and valuable piece in the Brothers Collection, capturing the essence of a powerful era in automotive history.

    The 70 Chevelle SS is my favorite car of all time. My brother bought a new one in 70 when he was in the Army. Cranberry red cowl induction hood, black stripes and black interior. Gorgeous car. Black cherry is beautiful too.

    even if you're not a Chevy guy, impossible to dislike this. amazing body style. if the 1970 SS chevelle had the 71 or 72 round tail light rear bumper it would look even better in my opinion. would match the 4 headlights better. a friend of mine has a 70 LS6 that's even nicer than this (if thats believable) with buckets and console, red with black stripes, he's owned it for over 30 years. its like it was built yesterday. def in the top 3 of all time muscle cars, and no doubt Chevys best ever. a real manly man muscle car

      Add another to the list, I like the rectangular lights but the round tail lights were the best.

      IMHO, the '70 was the best Chevelle that GM ever produced! In all aspects.

    A beast of an engine and nice color. First time I've heard of a "black cherry" paint color.

    The 450 hp rating was a joke! Mine on the Dyno reached 502 horsees! It was because of insurance! Lol

      I always doubted it was 450hp. You're right it was for the insurance companies. ❤

    I'm a hardcore Ford guy. I love my classic Mustang with all my heart, but be that as it may, there is something badass about a 454 Chevy Chevelle. I just love 'em..
    Too bad you don't see many of them left, and especially in Europe where I live. Muscle cars are scarce.
    MuscleCarOfTheWeek, please keep coming with your awesome videos, and thank you for letting a European guy and the rest of the world share your American Dream of the perfect muscle car.
    Cheers from Denmark.

    Beautiful! I had what is thought as the last 1971 SS-454 Monte Carlo built. There were only 1910 built that final year. Ordered in March 1971 and arrived at dealer September 1971 with the new 1972 models. Wish I had that car back today.

    I absolutely love the 1970 Chevelle SS but my favorite body style EVER of any car ever produced by man is the 1968 and 1969 GTO/Lemans/Tempest.

    what was the difference between an m-21 and an M22 transmission?

    • @danieltubbs5422
      @danieltubbs5422 7 років тому +1

      The M20 and M21 designated a wide or close ratio (in that order). The M22 was a close ratio with a semi straight cut gear for strength. While great for drag racing, they really designed it for road racing applications which is why it was seen mostly in Corvette applications (or behind giant big blocks). In 1980 after tickets took me off the road, I rode to the steelmill for a few months in a workmates original 70 396 4 speed, red on red, bucket Chevelle SS. He was 19 years old as I was. He knew he had an immaculate hot car, and could certainly row it. He unfortunately had no clue of the value that it was to be. He sold it for 4500 in 82.

    C'mon Kevin... You and I both know the only explosion in an engine is the one that destroys it... there's a difference between explosion and combustion. Other than that, that's one cool car. Although I think I'd prefer Your personal '70 Buick Riviera! If it's still in your collection that is?

    • @MuscleCarOfTheWeek
      @MuscleCarOfTheWeek  7 років тому

      Great point Gustav! However, we like to think of big horsepower coming from explosions as well. We still have the '70, but it's not as quick as this one!

    • @GustavLindstroem
      @GustavLindstroem 7 років тому

      I can agree with that, but all us car nerds are screamin' out loud every time we hear "engine" and explosion" used in the same sentence ;-)
      The Buick doesen't need to be fast, it's got 510 ft-lb to deal with anything trying to restrain it and that's good enough for me :) Love those 455s.
