I'm really hoping Shallan will join the world hopping people soon! She would be the most likely too given she has a (minor spoiler ahead) Seon now and knows the truth about the Ghost Bloods. God I hope she becomes a Rosharan world hopper ❤️
I read White Sand before I read most of Mistborn and Stormlight and I’m very glad I did. It was nice to know Khriss as a cute dorky scientist duchess before I knew of her as the cool Cosmere researcher most people first met her as. P.S.: I know White Sand has a reputation among some fans, but I really loved the Graphic Audio version of it! If you weren’t crazy about the comic, it’s definitely worth a listen!
I started reading stormlight again after reading a few novels. And then I heard "Let's destroy some evil" and I was looking at this sentence for a while thinking something ain't right. And then I googled it. So now I'm here searching for cosmere explained lol
I suppose you covered it when you mention the 17th shard, but I think Demoux deserves a special mention since he's a semi-prominent solo character throughout Mistborn who then later joins the 17th shard for unknown reasons, more than likely with the help of Harmony since he's _most likely_ being fed atium in one form or another through this avenue.
You mentioned that we do not know where Vasher and Vivienna are on Roshar, but we definitely do. Vivienna is in Shadsmar looking for vain for Nightblood that's given to Szeth, and Vasher calls himself Zahel and is the sword master that is among the Ardents in the Kholin war camp and later in Urithiru
Along with the creation of the Cosmere itself, the inclusion of world, hoppers was absolutely brilliant and probably like most people here.Brandon quickly moved to the top of my favorite fantasy author list.
I’d be interested to see some deeper spoiler filled (clearly labeled, of course) dives into some of these subjects. At some point. I know you got a lot on your proverbial UA-cam plate.
Yeah, this video ends up like a list of the organizations and individuals name, but without even a description of those and with most of their known goals obscured, I feel like this video is more frustrating than useful for new or seasoned readers. If TW.Raven wants to make another worldhopper guide in the future, may I suggest mentioning the list of stories where each given organization or character appears and a physical description as well. I also feel like you needn't be quite so squimish about spoilers either, since, for instance, knowing that the ghostbloods are worldhoppers is already a bit of a spoiler in itself, and generally the subject of worldhopper is inherently spoilery anyway, so I think it's fine to dwelve deeper, with the proper warnings at least.
@@maximeteppe7627 - I don’t know about all that. While I can agree that it’s a bit light on information, wasn’t that the point of this video? Truly a non spoilery introduction to the subject. Just enough to help keep an eye out for these particular names without weakening the fun of piecing the puzzle together. But also yeah, I too would like to see a deeper dive with all of the who what when where and why’s that can be fit in. The Cosmere is a big place, and we’ve got time.
@@joshhoehne8281 Of course, but I think that even as an introduction it falls short. I'd prefer a format where a character of faction is introduced, with identifying features described to help recognize them whenever we cross there paths. then the works where they appear as cameo could be listed. And finally the work where backgrounds and motives are most clearly explored is named. Even without spoilers it could be a better way to provide a guide to track down and understand world hoppers. As it stands the video ends up being a list of names, without providing much information about which books to find them in, and with mostly lacking or even deceiving information about their motives - and their planets of origin, which half the time don't appear in their respective novels, even less on their covers.
@@maximeteppe7627 - Gotta admit, what you’re describing does sound rather nice. Especially the “identifying features to help recognize them whenever we cross (their) paths” bit. Just imagining the extra thrills I could have gotten the first time reading through the Cosmere and being able to pick out all of the Worldhoppers as we’re introduced to them, even without knowing all of their story at that point. I’m smiling now. Overall I see your points, and mostly agree. But I still think this video was fine for what I believe it was trying to be plus its short run time. I’d like to see the format expand in the direction of a short and simple primer like this one is, with a second “intermediate”, longer dive not long after. Like the next day or so. Possibly even film them both at the same time, then it’s “just” editing. Then if interest is high enough, a full on spoiler and theory filled episode.
Hmm. We have the constellation map for seeing the worlds, but what is the perspective of that star map? Where is looking up in the sky and mapping that labeling each of the world's?
I don't think they're simply planets away. In the Cosmere and in Kriss notes it's mentioned it's much larger than our solar system, since each of these planets has their own planets, moons, and suns that aren't visible to other planets. That stands to reason they are _quite_ far apart though somewhere together in the same galaxy.
Which book is the info on Silverlight and Khriss from? I believe that the Ire was from Mistborn: A Secret History but can't remember Silverlight. Also, which organisation is the map maker Nazh in?
Khriss first introduced in White sand graphics novel, it's easy to read just 3 volumes, but if you don't like graphic novels, then you can listen to their graphic audiobook, It's awesome to hear.
The Ire is not from Mistborn/Scadrial. They do have a stronghold in the Cognitive Realm in Scadrial, though they are not originally from there. They're as he mentions from Sel and are ancient Elantrians that left Sel long before the Reod happened.
Pretty good actually! I'm on Shadows of Self and kinda contemplating just jumping into Bands right after I'm done (which I normally wouldn't do). We'll see how I feel when I finish it :)
Just like the video that covered the spiritual realm, I have no idea where you got half of this information! It's been a while since I read Mistborn: Secret History, one of the major stories dealing with worldhopping, but I don't remember anything about Silverlight.
@@iveybullard8988 A lot of information comes from offhand references, WOBs, obscure mentions in books, etc. I also get a ton of my information from the official wiki and the 17th Shard's podcast and fansite. Basically just a lot of digging around and you'll find most of what you're looking for XD
It may be English semantics but I wouldn’t say we know they’re a primarily Roshar organization just that we’ve seen them the most there. It’s obvious they’re on many worlds from the kinds of investiture they possess.
I think the ghostbloods segemnt needs to be updated. Now we know their primary purpose is to protect scadrial and they are led by kelsier and the rosharan branch seems to be a loose cannon
All? Sir, even as of the making of this video that was barely a tenth of the known world hoppers. There were more than twice this many worldhoppers that showed up in just the first stormlight archive book.
