A fascinating canister vacuum, and it definitely has some interesting features too! Wonderful job!

Wow that machines looks really nice. Your Kenmore collection just keeps growing. They do cheap out with one bag as I think that was the case with my new in box Kenmore Upright from like 2010 or 11 and my new in box Progressive Cansiter from 2008. I have not heard much on these machines but on the Blue version of like 10 years ago with that style powernozzle I heard that losts of suction was lot in the design. I assume the Pet Powermate was shipped seperate as it might be heavy enough to come out in shipping and bang around. When I got my Canister vacuum years ago they offered to machines, seems odd, same color and spec but one had a longer hose and cord so I got that model. Amazing what just a little more length can do.

Do you know when this vacuum was released? I do like it and it does a great job but like you said sometimes you just want that hose a little longer. Lol 😂 How many Kenmore vacuums do you have now?

@@Bunkysworkshop Think that I only have four. Three uprights and one canister. I regret now when I worked in Car rental someone left a Blue Kenmore cansiter in a car and never claimed it and I donated. Shoud have kept it. I am not sure when this video's model of canister came out. The concept of the powernozzle goes back atleast 10 years maybe even closer to 15.

@@ryanhawkins1235 So what one do you prefer? I like for a daily cleaner a upright and for those deep cleanings a canister vacuum. I canister vacuum can do the furniture and baseboards and so on. Now that being said I just don’t like dragging a canister around because it feels like it’s always in my way or stuck on something. I do have central vac and do use that as well but I always seem to grab a standard upright.

Great review Craig! I have the Kenmore Elite 700 Ultra Plush in Champagne, and I love it. I decided to get the Ultra Plush because of the issues with the powerhead design the previous blue Kenmore Elite had, and also several Amazon reviews that said the CrossOver powerhead had a tendency to "stick" to certain style carpets. It's a great vacuum - cleans and filters just as well as my Miele canisters, and easier to use because it doesn't have that goddamn stiff "cord welded" hose like the Miele canisters use. One thing you can do to keep the bag from leaking at the collar is to tear off and save a bag collar when you throw a bag out, and when you install a new one in the bag holder, put the old one on top and jam both into the bag holder. It will be VERY STIFF to get both in, but if you do that the bag collar can't move around to cause leaks.
Regarding the question of when the Kenmore 700/800 series weas released, I am gonna say early 2015. I bought mine in summer 2016, as we knew Sears was in trouble here in Canada, and I wanted to get mine while I still could. They finally left Canada in January, 2018....a shame they are gone.

The machine does feel like a quality machine and my only complaint is the hose is on the short side. Do you feel it’s short?

    • @robwalton2007

@@Bunkysworkshop Nope, not at all. It seems to be about the same length as my other Kenmore canisters. In fact, my only gripes with it really are: 1. The hose handle. It is awkwardly shaped and not as nice to hold as some other hose handles, such as my Simplicity/Riccar canister hoses. 2. The fact the tools go inside the hose handle, not outside. Makes it harder to use aftermarket/generic tools with it. However, I bought a metal Miele hose adapter, wrapped it with a little red Tuck Tape so it fits nice and snug in the hangle, and use that with the Kenmore Elite when I want to use other tools with it. As far as I am concerned, this is a darn good vacuum that cleans and filters as well as a Miele, and will last 10 to 15 years for about 1/2 the price of a Miele C1 with a SEB228 powerhead, so I recommend this to anyone over a Miele.

@@robwalton2007 I’ve been using my Sebo pearl black edition and so I’m going to see if there is a difference in the hose lengths. Maybe this is where I’m feeling the difference.

@@Bunkysworkshop Nice vacuum there Craig! I personally refuse to buy 1 of their canisters though, as I dislike their "S Class" (supposed) Hospital Grade Filtration. Plus the swivel neck on the ET1 powerhead is a joke, the on/off switch on the powerhead is way too small, and one big weakpoint on those is the small hose cord that transfers power from the hose material to the pn receptacle on the hose handle. Also, those goddamn Sebo hoses are just as stiff as Miele hoses from the early 2000's were when Wessel Werk started manufacturing them for Miele! The current grade of Miele hoses made by Wessel Werk are far better now on the C1/C2/C3 than they were 10 years ago. Yup, sorry, not a Sebo fan boy here!

@@Bunkysworkshop Oh btw, I have a 1992 Candian Kenmore EVPC canister in my collection. The Canadian version says 8950 on it though, not EVPC, and is black instead of gray like the American model was. Extremely RARE machine to find now! I hotrodded that Kenmore with a Ametek double stage motor from the Perfect C101, so it pulls 125" waterlift now, same as a central vac!😀. By far, one of my favorite machines in my collection.

This is an interesting canister from Kenmore, same motor unit as the Progressive, but has its own specific Powermate with the crossover head that pulls out of the main (it sounds more aggressive on the carpet compared to the Progressive spec Powermate).

It has a black brushroll over the wooden ones they once used. Looks more Hoover windtunnel like.
