noppes , west coast synths ( buchla , make noise, serge etc..) are more about additive synthesis ...adding harmonics by freq.mod etc... ..;and low pass gate filtering ( filtering out , vectrol gate ) ...buchla had 'the complex oscilator etc...
Ahh ok thanks for the info. I'm definitely a scrub when it comes to all these insane modular guys. Really I wish I knew where to start in learning how to do this kind of stuff. I use ableton and have an alesis andromeda a6 I bought on a whim over 10 years ago hah. Tutorials really haven't done much for helping me learn how to produce electronic stuff that doesn't sound like shit.
Actually, check out this link. This is from his album Sonno which he recorded in his hotel rooms while on tour with NIN. He says he was trying to make music to sleep by as he was having troubles. He recorded this with an old Roland MC-202 and a delay pedal. Even cooler is he talks about how he produces the live show with video in the article as well. reverb.com/news/reverb-interview-nine-inch-nails-alessandro-cortini
Check out the gear from Make Noise. Cools stuff at a great price. The 0 Coast is a great standalone bit of gear that mimics both East and West coast synthesis. (Buchla v. Moog) www.makenoisemusic.com/synthesizers/ohcoast
Wondered too, after watching the studio vids got to this website, makes sense!: www.reddit.com/r/synthesizers/comments/39yn57/alessandro_cortinis_live_setup/
Roland MC 202 and some effects pedals; that's the set up he used to make the album these tracks are from (although he probably has some more gear here for drums). Modest compared to his usual live rig but still sounds beautiful.
+AZROF I'm very fond of, for example, psychill or ambient. But if I would come to listen to this sort of music I'd like to have a place to sit on. To feel myself peaceful and relaxed, as u noticed. So I feel sorry for that poor people made to stay without reason.
+Gleb Ulanov I am seeing Alessandro in Adelaide next week. No idea which part of his repertoire to expect but definitely hoping there is some kind of sitting room!
+AZROF A lot of it is uninspired. But then you have some gems coming out of the scene like Trifonic or someone like Grimes. It's just sad in a way that electronic music has become such a fad that there really isn't the same demand for cerebral, intellectualized, and innovative music. Kids at these festivals would listen to legends like Autechre, Coil, Richard Devine, Morton Subotnick, etc and have absolutely no clue what the pioneers were really doing.
I wish I had an 8hour set from him for every single day during work
wow... just hoping this lasted longer, u should go check a therapist
Max Hodges you sir are the childish one, the comment wasn't to insult, but was very complimentive. Stop trolling, you just hurt yourself in the end.
Haunting this soundscape he paints.
But delivered in the most beautiful possible way.
Spent the entirety of this video improvising on marimba and I LOVED IT. Highly recommend.
Amazing performance by Cortini, y was there living this experience one year ago! :)
Ese Cortini, sí la mueve. También me envolví en su set esa noche. Buenos recuerdos.
One of my favourite performances ever.
Rovina is just splendidly played. That kind of song which make you sad and happy at the same time.
Living Legend.
I knew it! I'd recognize that chase bliss delay anywhere. Beautiful.
I can see Cortini shining bright composing for movie/videogame scoring.
well, he did in the end!
I saw Alessandro Cortini live @Donaufestival Krems and he was incredible! Love this dude! Great Work!
a treat to see the master at work...thank you
Dude loves his saw waves

Ward de jager hi, is there something else in the market (no so expensive) that could make addicitve synthesis like buchla?

Really Nice Performance 👍
This is like, if Boards of Canada just got a divorce, and now they're eating xanax like it's candy, so in short, this is beautiful music.
Drugs are so trash

Can you make the download link available for this show on your site? It's not there.

Song name starting at 39:45
SINTHY RULES!
Track list?
Is the distortion on the recording or my sound gear? Can't tell!
it's not your sound gear
The distortion is on the sounds in the music
Setlist please!!!
pazzesco, riprenditi Alessà...
What gear is he using beside the chase bliss ?
Love this, but all I can imagine is that poor audience waiting for the beat to drop.
What’s the name of the last track? Help! xx
which instruments is he playing here? if it is a buchla its a very small one, it looks to me...
Wondered too, after watching the studio vids got to this website, makes sense!: www.reddit.com/r/synthesizers/comments/39yn57/alessandro_cortinis_live_setup/
thanks man, but he might change from even to event....
true story... at least something to start with or think about

Why is the sound distorted?

It’s horrible man, you’re right. Ignore the gay boy above my comment.
Is that a Rick Owens hoodie? Dude has taste
Or money to waste. $800 hoodies are for idiots.
last track name?
I can't understand why boiler room force people to stand listening to so undancy music?

+Gleb Ulanov Alessandro Cortini deserves a standing ovation for the entire duration of any set that he performs.
+Gleb Ulanov I am seeing Alessandro in Adelaide next week. No idea which part of his repertoire to expect but definitely hoping there is some kind of sitting room!
