I'm a Kstate fan Klieman was probably the perfect guy to come in after Bill Snyder I'm excited for Avery Johnson in the future he pretty much won the Texas Tech game for us with 5 rushing TDs Collin Klien made me a fan and I'm glad he's the OC
Great video. I know Oklahoma Sooners glad they didn’t have K-State on the schedule this year. K-state definitely is a solid winning program knows how to knock off some big programs with less talent. I have nothing but respect for K-State.
Mizzou fan here. I watched an earlier video on the rise of Kansas State football. I remember how bad that K State was. The Barbara Uhling years lasted way too long for Mizzou. About the only win that the Tigers could count on was when we played Kansas State. When K States savior came along we could no longer count on a K State win. About 3 years ago I watched a video on the great K State turnaround. I always felt sorry for them. When I heard the testimonials of the players that made the great change to a winning program I 😢 teared up. I really am happy that K State is now a solid team, and I am happy that Mizzou doesn't play them every year. I wish the Wildcats the best of luck. Vaughn
I was a student at K-State and graduated in 1965. I came from Germany in 1965. My years living on a farm just outside of Manhattan were the most wonderful ones in America. Kansas will forever have a special place in my heart. New Jersey, where I've lived most of my life is OK but does not come close to Kansas. I have first-hand experience as how it is to suffer when your school is at the bottom of the totem pole in college football. At least they were excellent in basketball with all white teams to boot. Chris Klieman is an excellent coach but I will never understand his decision not to kick the field goal in overtime against Texas. K-State had their freshman quarterback rattled; had all the momentum. I'm sure Bill Snyder would have decided to kick the field goal, give the team a chance to win and ultimately play in Arlington. But the future looks bright with goldillocks next year as quarterback. Can't wait for that. Very excited. There will be magic in the air with receiver Brown in there along with others.
The best part about K State for me is that I lived in North Dakota through Chris Klieman's reign in NDSU. Then the year I move to Kansas is the same year Klieman moves to K State. Even got a picture with him at two seperate football camps.
The players from "The Foundation" voted on the Powercat. He told an artist that he wanted a logo like Iowa, and after he saw he hated it. However, the players seemed to like it so Snyder put it up for a vote..and that is how the Powercat came to be. Snyder showed that he is not a connoisseur when it comes to art, because everyone seems to like it and ". A total of 39 schools in 18 states now use the Powercat as their athletic logo." There are 9 schools tht use the KU logo. "Snyder had arrived at K-State in 1988. As his teams started winning, K-State went from barely profiting from its licensing to ranking among the top 15 nationally."
Snyder also pushed for Stadium and training facility upgrades. Snyder didn't actually create the Power Cat logo of course , but he had it commissioned. The power cat is a great logo and Power Cat is a great name. Snyder was also a workaholic and led by example and he cared deep about his players and the city of Manhattan.
Yo , bro , Bob stoops , came from Coach Snyder’s coaching staff … c’mon … man … Brent venebales , former kstate player, and coach … Coach Snyder , is the greatest college football coach of all time , College Hall of Fame!!!
KSU fan since birth. In fact, the stadium is about a mile away from where im currently typing this. I've been through the tough years, and watched as the Cats came to life under coach Snyder. Thanks for covering us! Respect.
Really great video Scott! But there was a big omission around 11:40 - The reason why Klieman got "over the hump" is because he fired the offensive coordinator at the end of the 2021 regular season and promoted Collin Klein. If you look at the stats, the difference is night and day. Under Messingham (old OC), K-State was one of the worst teams in the country in terms of scoring efficiency. Under Klein, it's now one of the best. Edit: Turns out it's mentioned around 16:15 , but the rest still stands -- Klein is a great OC
The only real blip on Kliemans resume so far is his faithfulness and unwillingness to fire Messingham. He really only did it due to the massive amount of backlash he was receiving from fans and donors over Messingham. He was super committed to keeping him. Glad he finally succumbed to the pressure. KSUs offense has been a top 25 unit since CK took over calling duties, and I foresee them becoming a consistent top 10 offense over the next three years with Avery Johnson at the helm.
I lucked into the absolute worst modern time to go to KSU from a football perspective, 2004-2008. As far as I’m concerned, as a student who cared deeply about KSU FB, Ron Prince’s name will live in infamy. Hopefully students now can appreciate the good times knowing there’s no guarantee they continue.
When you mentioned beating Stoops’ OU teams, you could’ve mentioned Stiops and his entire staff coming from assistant positions under Snyder. I know you weren’t doing the whole Snyder story, but it’s a thought to share. I enjoyed your video. Thx.
Thanks for the upload. Great info on Klieman & the current state of the program. Missouri would be a great future video, they’ve seen somewhat similar lows & high as the ‘Cats.
Love this video, anytime KState gets talked about by non KState fans I love to see it, great work definitely subbing and watching more content, Id love to see even more big 12 football videos 🔥
People always forget JW. It's not even arguable that he was the most prolific pure passing QB that KSU has ever had. His 2014 season was remarkable. If he had three years in the program, he would hold arguably every passing record at KSU. Sadly, he only got 2 years. Dude was gunslinger.
As an Oklahoma fan out of all the teams, im happy to not play again. Kanasas State is the only one. I cant count the number of times they have ruined something for us because they are always well coached, have good fundamentals, and make few to no mistakes. And the fact they're not in the top 10 or even 15 in recruiting speaks volumes about the development.
I've been a fan of K-State since 98' and I must say the biggest downfall I've seen with the program is the ability to get to the post-season, but lack of winning in a bowl game. Sure, there's been a few games, but you look at teams like Oregon, Ohio State and Alabama last year and it's super frustrating. To be elite, you need to beat the elite. It's high time we get there under Klieman!!
Been a Wildcats fan for years! Even meeting bill Snyder numerous times and him coming to my wrestling matches when I was younger. I hope they become a program to fear in the future
The 2020 Covid season should definitely have an asterisk. K-State and everyone else struggled to put together a lineup every week. Bad year for everyone.
It the possibility of having a north and south division sometime soon in the future being considered? With all those new teams having joined and Utah also coming, would that not make a lot of sense? With so many teams right now, it will be impossible for top teams to play each other every year. Things could have turned out differently this year had KSU played against OU and OSU against Texas. The North could have eight teams and the South as well with the winner of the North playing against the winner of the South. And you could resume the oldest rivalry of all: KSU playing Iowa State every year. Wow!
