You can put some helium cartridge inside a box , a balloon , a colour changing led lights which runs on small battery and some fishing thread long ones. Start the led lights shove it inside the balloon inflate it with helium and release it'll stay up for quite long & keep on signaling the actual position and it fits in a box . Well I thought about fire works and flares and then thought what if they didn't notice it coz it's short times or I run out rockets or flare . The balloon will stay longer & keep on signaling.
This is not new . Someone out there also might though about it & probably using it for SOS . The thing is it's not commercialised so couldn't find such device on local market in ship breaking yard . If you make it I can buy it for cheap & probably with lots of new additions.
