Please keep getting guests like Shevchenko on the pod! Not only a hugely talented footballer, but also seems like a lovely man
Not a hugely talented footballer? Are u alright mate
@@lewisroberts3392not “ONLY”. Come on mate read carefully
What a bizarre thing to say 🤦🏾♂️
He was overrated
@@lewisroberts3392 to be fair I did read it like that as well lol but I read it again haha
That era of top footballers are so humble
My favorite player EVER! Shevchenko!
This is what sets Linekar apart from other hosts. He asks the right questions and listens, let’s the guest speak and doesn’t necessarily interject. He lets the conversation flow and is simply a brilliant host.🎉
My favourite player in the early 2000’s
Shevchenko was amazing when he was at Milan. Wonderful footballer
and Dynamo Kyiv. UCL top scorer before even going to Milan.
Yeah I remember that Nou Camp treble and his partnership with Sergei Rebrov (who moved to Spurs) ... Those 2 were quite telepathic together
No he wasnt lol
@@cheatingREFSandVARwhat u talking about
I fell in love with football because of him
He was the best player in the world until 2005.
Class player and seems like a class guy too
As American who watched the 03 champions league (pretended to be sick) solidified my love for milan as a kid. It was SO hard to watch those games where i lived. I still have the vhs. I loved this!
I remember watching 03’ final Milan-Juventus. What a game! I stayed late in the night and probably skipped the next day of school
@@streamtec88one of the worst ever champions league finals imo
WHAT A LEGEND SHEVCHENKO
Brilliant podcast. Shevchenko: top-drawer striker.
fair to say he was the best striker in the world during his peak
Love the fact that Gary Lineker does not have double standards on the two wars going on. Shows compassion for both oppressed sides
Thanks a lot for inviting Sheva he made me many many good memories,,, forza milan 😘
I liked it when Sheva complimented Gary when talking about winning the Ballon d'Or. Kids these days have no idea how prolific a goalscorer he really was.
My favourite ever football player made me fall in love with AC MILAN ,thanks lads great work.
He is one of the best,we need more people like him 👍
Awesome guest indeed. That Milan team was legendary.
This man was a dangerous striker in the early to mid 2000s. Incredible finisher!
Listening stories about chernorbyl from the man who live through himself..his football was a radioactive hazard...to winning a ballon D’or...what a journey!
As always, brilliant pod gary!
I'm so pleased to hear all the praising words Shevchenko has to say about Kaka!
What a player shevencko was fantastic player
First of all my thoughts and prayers are with the people of Ukraine and the family of Andriy! He was a special goalscorer in Italy and a appears an even better human being.
❤️❤️❤️
Fantastic 😍 The interview touched on 1% of his sporting life from Ukraine to Italy and England. As a young Milan fan, it was a joy to see his arrival after the transition from the Weah era. It would have been wild if Robrov came too as they were an amazing pair in the Ukraine. He was too humble and should acknowledge his impact in Milan and accept the defeat by the worst (average) LFC team in history as history was corrected 2 years later. A few years earlier, at old Trafford, we saw how Dida came off the line a lot in the penalty shootout against Juve for Milan to win, as much as I celebrated that win, in my heart I felt bad for Juve. I felt Karma kicked in when LFC won a few years later. You can’t always have history in your favour, you need something to fight for…something to heal you, and they did it with a Pirlo free kick against Inzaghi’s back. Shevchenko is pure love as a human and am beyond happy with the joy he provided for years.
As a Liverpool fan I agree in a way ,they were an average team individually, but it shows that with a good team ethic and structure and a tactically aware manager anything is possible against superior teams
Fantastic listen. A wonderful guest and man
Loved the interview with an icon of the game. Subscribed for more content like this.
Fantastic - not a surprise you can leverage this kind of guest but a really nice change of pace and some levity. So much of football is dumbed down or mindless but not shying away from serious issues outside of football etc. is a boon for your podcast - particularly when balanced by the great chemistry, anecdotes and laughs. I wouldn't usually bother with a football podcast tbh but this has been a lovely find.
Listening to him speak, you cannot connect him with the person he was on the football field!
Absolutely amazing interview!
What a great and humble guy Andriy is!
Nailed it! ✌🏽
Sheva has been my idol since I was 13 years old. Growing up in Ukraine in that difficult time, you always made me proud to be Ukrainian and showed that hard work pays off. When russia started the war against Ukraine you showed your position immediately and told the entire world the truth about the invasion.
Wow, such an enthralling episode. I came out of it having such a lot of respect for Andriy.
These interviews have been an absolute highlight of the podcast so far. Amazing stuff.
My hero
Definitely the best football podcast
Ahhh my favourite footballer of all time! What a nice surprise! Love Sheva!
Can't believe his English is so clear and good
It says a lot about him as a person the way he spoke about Istanbul which was such disappointment for him and rather than focusing on the negative or failures he wanted to give credit where credit was due...what a player and what a man, only wished that during his time at Chelsea that he would have been 100%
Great interview
Andriy, real man!
No Richards, or Shearer? Gary is ever present on every episode, and at this point I'm utterly convinced he is living his best life on these podcasts - Amazing ! Great content as always
Fantastic interview!
That was fantastic, thank you!
thank you Gary, love your podcasts, love that you're on youtube and making content for us to enjoy :)
Would love to see Hidetoshi Nakata as a guest. The one who paved the way for Asian players in Europe.
Great interview Gary..Keep up with the great work.
Fantastic interview Gary.Well done Sir.
Brilliant episode garry, really enjoyed
Brilliant interview
Enjoyed that.
Well done.
Great interview💯👊🏾
Wow how English is really good could never imagine a interview with Sheva . What great memory's being a Milan fan . Just hurt he left for Chelsea like kaka did for real Madrid but amazing career and one of my favourite strikers ever . Give him the ball anywhere and he was a predator
Amazing pod with another amazing guest.
Sheva was an animal!Dont get fooled by his humbleness!Andriyyyyyyyyy!!!!
Sheva, the reason I started supporting AC MILAN!!!
Didnt know Gary scored hatrick in the bernabeau
He never mentions it
😂😂😂😂😂
Who did he play for?

Great guy ❤
His English is brilliant! Quality podcast.
Great podcast
I enjoy all the pods but this was something special ❤
This was a great interview and not one I expected to be honest. I would love either a Del Piero or Pirlo episode. 2 of my favourite players. On the back of this one again, what about a Maldini episode. 🙏
Don't think any of those guys speak English well enough for a long form podcast
@@nathannath53 😢
@@nathannath53 Del Piero and Maldini speak great English, mate. Pirlo is the only one who doesn't.
Very nice, im hoping to see another childhood legend of mine, Del Piero
The lack of veiews here shows how young most of the watchers of this channel are. Most of them will never have heard of Shevchenko.
Great pod! ❤ Keep it coming. Please try get Berbatov at some point. He has a story to tell and can shine a light on the problematic issues surrounding football in his country.
What an amazing player, truly one of the greats!
Any chance of a Teddy Sheringham interview with yourself, Shearer and Micah there. Would be pretty epic!
No
Hes was the best striker in the world for 5 or 6 years. He was a savage
Prince of Milan
Prob one of best striker i seen when im young boy
In 2009 when Inter took everything, second day i was out weriang your no.7 T-shirt with Milan ❤❤❤
That Ac Milan team of 05 could be one of the best teams to ever play the game
YNWA what a night a was 14 ✌️
It's a real shame we didn't see him at his best in the premier league.
Absolutely fantastic interview. After Thierry Henry and Andriy Shevchenko, hopefully Jude Bellingham up next.
Interesting interview. Always felt he was messed about at Chelsea. I would've played him, personally, up front with Drogba.
That Milan team
Remember Shevchenko and Rebrov for Dynamo Kiev.
Are you going to do one with England players of old Gazza, Hurst, Robson or Hoddle.

That match was fixed!!!
Fabolissimo
Some interviews with former Barca teammates would be brilliant
I am begging for Zidane to be a guest. Or Ronaldo (R9), that would be amazing.
Hearing Shev speak about Ukraine is awful. Especially when he is talking about his mother
Can we get jay jay okocha pleaseee
When your dream becomes a nightmare - imagine missing a penalty in Champions League Final
Shevchenko is a legend, I hope Russians see this video and realise the evil lies of putin.
Slava Ukraine 🇺🇦
Can you invite Raul please? At some point?
When i waz a kid i thought Andriy Shevchenko waz the best footballer
When is he talking about Kakà?
If Sheva scored for 4x3 instead of the double save, THEN this would have been the best final ever. I found it very unsatisfying that such an inferior team won.
SHEVA
1:24:20 Ricky Kaka
A great striker and Andriy Shevchenko
Edit: It's sarcasm lads bloody hell
A balon d’or winner and gary liniker 😂

Stop interrupting him!
What a great guy. You can see he's humble. So easy to warm to.
Unlike Henry.... There's something about Henry that's so hard to warm to
I think there's an arrogance to Henry which is difficult to warm too but why he was a genius with a football. Shevchenko is the polar opposite
@@jonathanburn4388 Sheva was just as great as Henry, and humble to boot.
@@Al-ji4gd Henry is French. I knew a French guy who had the same attitude lol.
Im only finding out, sheva...my favorite player, could have been RM player, my team. ffs.
Sheva was a great footballer- no doubt the best in post soviet era, maybe even best in the history of Ukrainian football as well as the best in that region. He was n is very close to earth humble person. I am Dynamo Kyiv fan since 82 n watched so many matches of my favourite DK, the then Soviet team consisting mainly of DK players n later Ukrainian national team. Linekar was a great player too and an amazing football commentator. I love this interview. However, didn't like one thing in Sheva's talks. He repeatedly used the term Russia while talking about Soviet era, which he shouldn't have done in my humble opinion. That country was Soviet Union and Ukraine was one of major contributers in the economy, culture, sports of that artificially created failure state, but never had real equal rights, always have been discriminated, humiliated, exploited as a nation by chauvinist political leaders of Russia. The annexation of Crimea in 2014, aggression in Donbas region with fake allegations, barbarian all out war initiated by putin in February 2022 are simply continuation of that chauvinist, colonial politics of Russia which started during the period of Russian tsars in fact.
i can see why. many people are trying to educate the west about that era, that the soviet union was basically russian occupation. i think many people in the english speaking world don't realise that, as the state presented itself as a federation of nations.
Gary pls get Messi 🥹
Slava Ukraine
It was a lame and tame penalty, tbf.
Cheers Gary you ruined this in 10 seconds
Slava UKRAINE
forgive my ignorance but why do a lot of ukrainian footballers ( zinchenko mudryk) support israel when surely whats happening to palestinians is sort of similar to what russia are doing to ukraine
Not even close to be similar.
@@marceljdb territorial disputes and innocent people getting killed?
If i use your logic..i ask the question,Why most muslim supporting russia? Is same like supporting israel, right?
@@yozzu5101 ? no
@@BukayoDSaka This happens in every war, genius. But as you said: I forgive your ignorance.
His son used to play for Ascot FC in the boys team before moving onto bigger things of course at Chelsea, where his dads influence no doubt got him in the door, even though he was a decent player anyway. Doesn't hurt to be the son of a football legend so you get the benefit of the doubt. Anyway, Andriy came to train the lads on a few occasions and was brilliant with them - tough and worked them hard, but they loved it. Nice guy and willing for photos to be taken etc.
Sheva I miss you playing ❤
