Wei Yi who is the current champion of Tata Steel chess and who Gukesh beat in the Olympiad . And let us not forget Fabiano Caruana who has already reached candidates 2026 and looks to become a world championship challenger for the second time . Sagar has really chosen a wonderful time to come to Wik Aan Zee . 😊
Gukesh is badly out of preparation for this tournament. I hope he does not embarass himself in this strong field where everyone else except him have had good preparation.
The last person to reach tournament venue will be Gukesh who was still busy being felicitated in India even on 17 january 2025, when his first round match is on 18 January 2025.
