    If you do a tight seamless mitre on the 45 as soon as the boards start to expand from heating up due to sunlight it will wreck the board and possibly break the screw. Just like the deck boards need some spacing so do the mitre joints.

Im not sure if you can see it or not but it looks pretty waving to me an thats just from your video an it was obvious as soon as i saw it, so I can only imagine if I laid down an looked down the rows. Bragging of speed means quality was sacrificed. Quality is number 1. Just using the hidden fasteners an slamming boards doesnt keep em straight. You got at least a 30' plus run there an your not even snapping lines? No set string line as a control line thats parallel to house an outside deck rim to measure deck boards to maintain straight lines, heck outside deckboard is already pose to be parallel yet nobody pulling tape, checking every other joist maintaining a straight line even. You can run a board down to break up the spans as you do, however the rows gotta line up on both sides of the board, lot easier to do running the boards thru to a same point, butt joint them an then cut both ends an lay your center board in. You use a track saw that I cut free hand an every carpenter ive seen or ever met, yet dont snap lines? Customers are paying hard earned money an should get quality. They deserve the best you can do. Hard to do when theres multiple employees, everyone's patience level an attention to detail is not the same.

      Justin Rutledge I was replying to the guy above you. He’s been trolling the whole comment section about the products used in the video. He’s probably an old school guy that only builds cedar decks that rot out in 5 years. As for your comment I just don’t see where the decking is crooked. He’s using a wide angle lens (fisheye) which gives a bit of a warped impression but there is not anything in the video to indicate quality was sacrafised

    • @justinrutledge6090
      @justinrutledge6090 4 роки тому +1

      @@jhende7 first off cedar decking doesnt rot in 5 years period, in fact cedar is one of the best products to use for decking, will it eventually rot yes, its wood, 5/4 id say say 15-25 years,( I just removed 5/4x4 cedar decking 28 years old not rotten) 2x material 25+years an i live in the pacific northwest, does that have to do with the up keep an maintenance applied during the life of wood, yes, also the stain matters. Now to say that because of maybe a fish eye camera angle is the reason why maybe my trained eyed immediately can seen how those boards are not straight is absurd an just plain talking out your butt. Your trying to tell me you didnt snap one line an installed those boards over a 30ft span straight just using the hidden fastener as a spacer gauge? Lol who do you think your talking to? I do this for a living. Thats why you snap lines. Im not some homeowner who doesnt know what there doing or talking about. Hell I can snap lines an just splitting the snap line will throw it off, 3 rows @ 1/32 is 3/32 equal thats 1/8+ bow in the run.
