My folks are Hungarian and my mother would make potato dumplings that had cinnamon and bread crumbs on the outside and a plum inside. They were about the size of a pool ball and my dad called them cannon balls. 😂
I tried to make these at home a couple years ago ! They were okay, my hubby liked them . I used sharp cheddar cheese in them , and then fried them in a butter sauce with chives and some basil. I was glad to watch you making them, I think I put too much flour in mine ! I will try and make them again just doing your simple recipe. Unless we get big tornadoes over the next few days, I am putting my brooms near us Incase we get a biggin here ! Lol
@@jennellmutch9985 Awwww that is so cool! I used to make them too with my grammy - also blintzes, and she would let me watch and help with all her cooking. Miss her so much!

@@jennellmutch9985 Mazel and good health to you from now on @jennelmutch9985. Yes, please be careful with sugar/carbs AND sodium/salt. I am so sorry that you went through all that. You are one tough sUcker! I wish you all the best and all the love in the world. I try my very best - I am 56 and I do control my sugar these days though I admit I do "cheat" on occasion. I do my best I can with sodium. I have to since I have both liver and kidney disease (both kidneys bad). Somehow thankfully my ticker is good! Both my parents had serious heart attacks and my oldest brother had 2 very serious bypasses. He does a little better now but he doesn't always control his sugar and salt the way he should - he lost 2 toes to diabetes so far. My mom had diabetes also. My dad had kidney failure. So I am not exactly working with a genetic lottery. My sister has all kinds of problems (though I think she could fix a lot of them with eating more sensibly and not drinking alcohol like she does).

Love your channel, and have made lots of your recipes! Although I have to say I somehow failed with these gnocchi’s. I used the caputo tipo chefs 00 wheat flour. Don’t know what went wrong, but after 4 minutes they were very hard! I’ve cooked them in 10 minute times after that for several cycles, and they’re taking forever to soften up. Any reason why I failed? *Just checked the date on flour, and the expire date is April 2023, oops! Would that really affect it having to cook so long?
My grandmother was from Northern Italy and made gnocchi. Delicious. She’s be annoyed if the potatoes were too watery having to add more flour which hid the potato taste.
Why do you call it pasta when it’s made from potatoes? If you don’t use 00 flour, they can be really heavy. Being as they are a potato base, can you deep fry them?
When I make them I use AP flour and bake instead of boil my potatoes. Mine are a little too light and airy but the flavor of the potato really shines. I'm going to try this recipe as they've written it and see doing it their way is an improvement. These guys are great cooks!
Cavetelli and gnocchi my two favorites ! . I make mine with ricotta instead of potatoes.
Nice! 😊
'Bullets' is a great description! Love me some Gnocchi...

Oh no! Expired flour affects the density of the dough.
