- Hey guys here is a quick review of my zero turn Hustler Raptor SD 54 inch cut. Over all this has been the best mower I have ever owned. It cut my mowing time in half

I've had my Raptor SD since 2014, 48 in. deck, 23 HP Kawasaki engine. 6 years, other then yearly tune ups, oil and filter change, and air cleaner change, I have had ABSOLUTELY ZERO PROBLEMS with it. Nothing has ever broke, nothing has ever loosened up, and I've only changed the blades 2 times in 6 years. My only problem was that my right front tire would go flat after sitting for two or three days. I fixed that with half of a bottle of SLIME, cost me 8 bucks. I've never been sorry I bought it. I mow almost 2 acres, and it's by no means a manicured lawn.

If I ever get another mower I will be getting a 0 turn. I mow about 3 acres with my mower and it takes me about 6 hours a day to mow it with mine. I will consider one of these thanks for sharing
Bitty Boo Brown they would cut a whole lot quicker,More power.cut your mowing time a whole lot.i can do a half of an acre in 15 minutes full speed
With that much grass you should get the fastrak hustler and not the raptor. A raptor would do the trick but the fastrak is a little bit heavier duty and would cut down your time by a lot
I appreciate the effort of the video, however I just bought a home two months ago, the seller left me his Hustler SD 60", anyhow, @ first I had no idea to steer a zero turn, moral of the story, within two weeks I learned how to mow better than you in a no-so-flat yard. You're tearing everything up. Good luck, man.

Great review. I have this exact mower and I mow 1.5 acres and I have a 2nd set of blades to swap out when I need to sharpen the blades and I only have 28 hours on the machine. I can't believe yours have lasted this long. I have lots of trees with leaves and twigs that I run over though and my whole lot is sand so I guess that's why they wear out so fast.

Hard to beat 0% for 48 months... Pretty similar to my Bad Boy right down to the Kohler engine... I've got the electric deck lift, which is pretty cool, but not as quick as the peddle for obstacles... You set yours like Tina likes her Husqvarna rider, on "Scalp"... LOL Shame about that hitch hole tearing out... Easy enough fix though... Overall, it looks like a pretty tough little machine... Good review ! Thanks !
The way you can get so close to things is AWEsome! I'm guessing that's what zero turn is. When you say 54" cut, are you saying that every pass with the mower cuts a 4' 6" wide line in the grass? 'cos that is amazing, it makes your front lawn bigger than a football pitch. The ball game post stayed straight up the ground? well.

Thanks for the review Dutch. I will be in the market for a zero turn once I move and Hustler is one I have been eyeing, along with bad boy. A grasshopper would be ideal, but boy are they pricey!
Kansas Country I brought the hustler,their warranty is full of crap,the deck cracked within 4 months of use! hustler fixed it under warranty,but a bad boy would be the next mower ill buy it, stay away from hustler.
snoop furlow bad boy is what i use to run my business and they are great mowers no complaints with them

Hi. Did y say 90h in 2 years. I did 65h in 3 months. Your machine has been sitting most of the time. There will be almost no ware or tare fot that many hours. Ive got raptor sd 42. Now its about 2 years old. Got like 640h and still running strong
Wow 😳 you remind me of myself, I'm in East Texas mowing 2 acres with a 60 inch Gravely, yeah they're expensive but I spend enough time cooking in the sun while working. Do a little research and get your blades on eBay shipped to your house for sometimes half as much as they want in town!!!

I got the Big Dog Blackjack 48" and they have it in the 54". This mower is made by Excel who also makes the Hustler Raptor only difference I c is one is red and one is yellow. What I like about the Blackjack is the flip up deck making it easy to clean the deck and replace the blades.
Actually looking at this model. The old crap mtd has been on its Last leg for a while. Just waiting for it to kick the bucket .
Yup, I'm in the market for a zero turn and was looking at the Hustler brand. If all remains well I am going to take your advise and move forward.

Not good to mow around post or trees like that you put a tire ring around it tearing grass up, scrape the paint off deck and your rubbing your tire's sidewall against the wood can risk damage to the tire and for as much as your cutting off at once you should raise your deck chute flap to throw grass further and better
Had one...and it's a good mower other than it packs the deck with just a lil bit of moisture...I got tired of scraping that deck.
The XHT hi lift blades solve that issue unless the grass is real wet weedy crap,then any deck would get clogged.
Don’t start your deck at full throttle. It will destroy your belt and could cause other damage!

I wouldn't cut that low personally.....I think lawns look better an inch or more higher.....my hustler sd labours that height......fuel is expensive here...
