Mae Pedwarawd Will Barnes, mewn cydweithrediad â’r artist dirwedd dalentog Erin Hughes, yn falch i gyflwyno eu halbwm cyntaf, ‘Source of the Severn’. Ymunir â Will Barnes (gitâr) gan James Batten (drymiau), Jack Gonsalez (piano) a Clovis Phillips (bas) - grŵp agos o offerynwyr jas hynod brofiadol. Mae’r albwm hwn o gerddoriaeth wreiddiol yn cynnig golwg fodern ar yr oes bebop glasurol gyda dylanwadau Wes Montgomery, Bill Evans, Pat Metheny ac Oscar Peterson, gan gymryd ysbrydoliaeth bellach o dirwedd odidog Canolbarth Cymru a’r Gororau. Mae Erin wedi creu 9 darn gwreiddiol mewn ymateb i’r gerddoriaeth, yn defnyddio ei gwaith llaw-farmor manwl fel ei phalet artistig i greu collages crefftus sy’n efelychu celfyddydwaith traddodiadol Pietre Dure.
Byddant yn teithio’n helaeth o ddiwedd 2023 ac yn ystod 2024 gydag Erin Hughes yn darparu sioe weledol fyw arbennig ochr yn ochr â pherfformiad y pedwarawd, gan danio dychymyg y gynulleidfa, ac yn gwneud hwn yn berfformiad na ddylid ei fethu.

The Will Barnes Quartet, in collaboration with skilled landscape artist Erin Hughes, are proud to present their debut album, ‘Source of the Severn’. Will Barnes (guitar) is joined by James Batten (drums), Jack Gonsalez (piano) and Clovis Phillips (bass) - a tight collective of highly experienced jazz instrumentalists. This album of original music is a modern take on the classic bebop-era with influences of Wes Montgomery, Bill Evans, Pat Metheny and Oscar Peterson, further taking inspiration from the exquisite landscape of Mid-Wales and the Marches. Erin has created 9 original pieces in response to the music utilising her meticulously hand-marbled papers as her artistic palette to skilfully craft collages that emulate the traditional artistry of Pietre Dure.
They will be touring extensively through late 2023 and 2024 with Erin Hughes providing a special live visual show alongside the quartet’s performance, igniting the imagination of the audience, and making this a performance to not be missed.

Interesting artworks complementary to the band. A relaxing combination. When I took decorating course back in 1988 at Shrewsbury Arts & Technology College; graining & marbling was part of the course, but customers just wanted their homes painted and decorated. I kept some images of the graining & marbling work I did. It would have been or be nice to learn music as well.
