I think the mandolin is used mainly when Blackhawk is playing. I think with The Outlaws, Henry mainly plays guitar, but with Blackhawk, he plays mandolin and guitar
Harmonies are always hard, especially when you have to pick back up after losing a vocalist. Though the Judds have nailed harmonies too, not so much with the Carter Family.
