    That slot on the left is just another entry for debris to get in. Sound probably gets through that acoustic slot also.

    Holy cow Adam, is there anyone left from your dad’s era or grandpas era? I remember 60 years ago meeting your grandpa at Elgin Gates house in New Port harbor CA. My mom was Elgins daughters best friend.

    I have a 12ga deluxe SA-08. I love it. It's so easy to shoot. Pattern is great! Reliable and with the price, you can't best it. And it's got weatherby fit and finish quality.

    Is the trigger assembly compatible with the 18i? I love my 18i but hate the small safety.

      We've field tested this in the harshest conditions over the past year from Alaska to Oregon to Wyoming and to Arkansas and with proper maintenance that should not be an issue.

    Looks like a Benelli bolt when you pulled it apart, did Benellis patent expire on the bolt ?
    But overall a much nicer and way better ergonomics over any other automatic shotgun on the market.
    I might have to switch from Benelli to Weatherby for my shotgun now. 😍

      Well, they said the shotguns are made in italy...i'd put money on them having benelli being involved in the manufacturing, in some capacity. Either by having them actually manufacture all or part of the shotgun, or at the minimum providing licensing to use their bolt design.

      The element upland I have is the same as the original benelli super black eagle. Can ghost load as well. I left Benelli after 4 out of my last 6 had issues. Weatherby has been bullet proof. Rifles and shotguns.

      The patents expired a few years back - hence all the inertias all of a sudden (brownings A5, Turkish stuff). The lefty conversion is pretty innovative

      Benelli fixed that problem a while back. This does appear to be the same bolt as the SBE 3

  • @aimkhan83
    @aimkhan83 4 місяці тому +1

    Looks great. However, swapping a charging handle and a safety bolt does not make it a safe left hand operated shotgun. Incase of malfunction or if the gun ever blows up, the right handed shotgun will expel most of the debris and shrapnel to the right side making it after for the right handed shooter. This one with open slots on each side is safe for neither the right nor the left handed shooters.

  • @chevyon37s

    Why bother to call it left handed if the only thing you switched was the bolt handle and safety? Still has right side loading and ejection… which is the biggest problem for left handed shooters… that ejection going right in front of your face! FAIL.

  • @jeffreyhall838
    @jeffreyhall838 3 місяці тому

    I like the shotgun but the left dide slot is a dealbreaker, no way do i want another entry point for debris to enter the action...I think if this was a good idea shotgun makers would have done it long ago as its not really a novel idea

    Im all about weatherby. !! But first hand from prolonged field use those fancy paintjobs dont hold up long. End up looking terrible. Better off putting a rough texture bedliner type coating on it . Last forever and it dont look terrible after cpl seasons. Just an opinion of a weatherby fan. Rocking a few weatherby now. The paint gota change its bad !!!!

  • @gimpyRW
    @gimpyRW 4 місяці тому +1

    Sorry not worth the money. This is a right handed shotgun with a right side ejection. Yes you can change the safety and the charging handle, but in the end you still have the empties shooting across the gunners eyes. The two lefties in my household don't want a right handed gun that sort of works for lefties. They'd rather get the Ithaca 37 (where a simple change converts the safety to left hand) or browning BPS (tang safety) and have the empties eject into a pile somewhere between 2.5- 3 feet in front of them. Also both the browning and the Ithaca come in at a few dollars cheaper than this shotgun.

      @@chevyon37syou mean a shotgun that’s more reliable and much simpler and easier to clean or disassemble as well as being lighter in the hand and quicker to point, is a bad thing?

    • @OG_Ghost
      @OG_Ghost 4 місяці тому

      I love how gas guys can’t admit how dirty their guns get. I’ve had both and it’s not even close how reliable my inertia guns are vs gas…and yes, that’s without even mentioning how dirty they get. Pain in the ass cleaning them and how often you’ll have to do it - if not in the field. You’re not fooling anyone when you say otherwise.

    • @chevyon37s
      @chevyon37s 4 місяці тому

      @@jamesflowers940 My browning maxus is lighter and points better than a Benelli SBE3 and is extremely simple to break down and maintain. I’ve got multiple of both gas and inertia powered shotguns the difference in complexity is minimal. And cleaning a gas gun takes minimal effort more. I’ve also never had any sort of cycling issue related to a dirty gas system. However I sure have had more cycling problems related to spring issues in an inertia guns. Oh no, pull the barrel and wipe off the mag tube and piston assembly. It’s as simple as that. Oh yeah and it’s got less recoil than an inertia gun.

    • @chevyon37s
      @chevyon37s 4 місяці тому

      @@OG_Ghost All that extra recoil of an inertia gun is getting to you head bud. Yeah a gas gun will get dirtier, but it’s stupid easy to clean. Wet the carbon with cleaner and wipe it away. Maybe scrub with a brush if there is hard build up that doesn’t wipe away. The extra effort for cleaning a gas gun is minimal, and well worth the decrease in recoil you get from bleeding gas off. I’ve never had a gas gun get dirty enough to have cycling problems. The reason gas guns have an unreliable reputation is from Remington using a gas system with a rubber O-ring that would cause cycling issues when the rubber got old and dried out. Modern gas guns use steel sealing rings and it’s a non issue. And require no more frequent maintenance than a inertia driven gun. I’ve got plenty examples of both types, and personally had more cycling issues with inertia driven guns. Not to mention gas guns especially when looking at shotguns designed for waterfowl hunting do a lot better job of cycling light weight target and dove loads. And that you can’t argue, hell even many of the inertia gun owners manuals state you must use heavy target loads for reliable operation. My gas guns are less ammo picky.
