Original Song "Mother" by Antoine Dufour, will be on his 3rd CD out Febuary, 2008. From the DVD Antoine Dufour / Andy McKee available at www.candyrat.com
Hi guys! This sample is from the new DVD that just came out on candyrat dot com, and the tabs for that piece and some new stuff as well! Check it out! Antoine Dufour
#1 tune on my iPod right now. Can't stop playing it. Get's stuck in my head and I have to hear it again, and again. Very cool groove. Awesome use of bass line. Great writing.
I have been coming back here and playing this and other videos for a number of years. When you are in the mood for "beautiful", this is a great place to start.
the harmonics and tapping he starts doin around 48 seconds are absolutely mindblowing! To be able to go in two directions like that at once on guitar is just jaw dropping.
People like Antoine can express music on an age old instument without reading of a sheet...It's called from the heart!!! If you notice his eyes are closed playin this passage..I just wish my right hand could do what his does...cheers all.....
Learning to play this is one challenge in itself. Writing it on the other hand... Thats a whole new world. I consider myself to be a fairly talented musician, but I don't ever picture a time where I will be able to write something so intricate with all those nuances.
A powerful statement for a powerful song/musician. Dear Antoine, if you ever feel down or just having a bad day, let this remind you how important your music is to people. Everytime I come home from a shitty day at work, stressed out, or just feeling down, your music relaxes me and brings me back up to par on emotions. Bravo man. Shaun
He must love his mother a lot... because this is nothing less than absolutely amazing. 30 seconds of this song feels like an eternity because of the complexity of technique. feels like i could just listen to it forever.
Antoine, you are it man! This and Ashes in the Sea, and Scratch are a tribute to working hard at your music to let your feelings really be heard. Please keep it up!!!
You shouldn't feel bad. I've been playing for 42 years and it still takes a lot of effort to produce the desired sound and mood. The solution is much practice to develope "muscle memory" and work on developing your technique and timing. Finding the right notes, though not always easy, is the easy part. If it's in your heart, you'll do it.
Andy Mckee and Antoine Dufour leave me speechless..... amazing musicians and I love the path this music is taking...... I love enjoying this great music with people but I haven't found anybody who understands it like I do...... anyway thanks for the great music guys keep it up.
This is easily one of my fav Antoine songs so much passion and love was put into composing this piece, and I consider it a total honor that Rpoland accepted my Cover of this song as a video response. Thank you
there are so many subtle right hand techniques in here its amazing. I also cant get over the accuracy of the harmonics. I still have a few years of practice, and then some more to get there.
Not only are his songs genius and amazing, but if you watch his tutorials he's a pretty lighthearted guy. Always goofing off and laughing. Doesn't take himself to seriously, although I take him seriously. One of my newest favorites. haha.
Still can't believe this song was released 7 years ago! Makes me sick how fast time is going!! and still to this day this song gives me goosebumps. Phenomenal song writing!
Antoine Dufour is the reason I push myself so hard to excel at guitar. Sure, there will always be somebody better than me, but just sitting on my back porch tapping away while I stare at the pond really makes me feel home, content, and warm all at once. It singlehandedly helped my depression vanish. I only hope that one day I can make it look as easy and natural as he does. I owe him!
This is truly a lovely tribute to his Mother. A song, a tune, work of art whatever!!!! It is BEAUTIFUL, this is all I know. Get over it and STAY away from grammar, a touchy subject with lil ole me. : -)))))))
amazing. I bought the album, heard the song, thought it sounded like there was more than one guitar playing so searched for the video, sure enough it was just him playing multiple line on his own.
Man i've been listening to your music for some years now. And this song is still kinda special to me n some kind of way, i say its one of your best. Keep it up antoine.
when I think of a "MOTHER", I think of a human being who gave me life and brought me into a home with a father, a bed to sleep in, clothes to wear, food to eat, and all the love a human could ask for
26 dislikes, we are enjoying a finely written novel while they are barely reading "see spot run." You are right, its the ability to enjoy the layers that make this song truly enjoyable.
This song is absolutely amazing, by far his best yet, 5 Stars all the way! The type of harmonic he is using is called pinch harmonics. When you hit the fret with your finger and produce a harmonic it's a slap harmonic.
dang son your playin is the shit i learned how to play this song but this is one of the few songs that only sounds good when the original writer plays this hands down one of the greatest acoustic guitar players around keep it up cause were still listenin
i watch this video atleast once a day, the great thing is antoine has found an absolutely amazing balance between technicality and melody. Where a lot of guitarists will go for all out flashy playing. This song is truly brilliant

12 years and still going. One of my favorite songs ever. Makes me think of my mom. Beautiful song.
Mr Dufour, the music that flows through you is trancendant, complex...simple... I am awe struck.
My mum died of cancer not long ago. I’m learning this song for her. Thank you Antoine

#1 tune on my iPod right now. Can't stop playing it. Get's stuck in my head and I have to hear it again, and again. Very cool groove. Awesome use of bass line. Great writing.

Antoine's mother, thanks for being awesome and raising such an awesome son.

He's so technical but still manages to be breathtakingly emotional, and that's really rare.

People like Antoine can express music on an age old instument without reading of a sheet...It's called from the heart!!! If you notice his eyes are closed playin this passage..I just wish my right hand could do what his does...cheers all.....
i love him and andy mckee. their styles are so different but their songs are equally beautiful.
Best I've heard from him so far. It really does seem like he's growing better as time goes by, in a big way.
agreed. there isnt a word in the english language to decribe the amazingly beautifully magnificent song we are listening to.
definitely one of my favorite antoine songs ever...if not just favorite acoustic songs ever.
Learning to play this is one challenge in itself. Writing it on the other hand... Thats a whole new world.

This guy can play. He makes it look so easy. Wonderful harmonics.
The part at 2:58 and on just blows my mind. The bass rhythm contrasted with the melody and harmonics is brilliant. Absolutely love this tune.
My favorite acoustic guitar music ever. Third comment on this music... CAN'T GET ENOUGH OF IT.
harmonics are out of this world...shivers!
He must love his mother a lot... because this is nothing less than absolutely amazing. 30 seconds of this song feels like an eternity because of the complexity of technique. feels like i could just listen to it forever.

Jesus, he keeps getting better. Absolutely incredible!
Antoine makes great use of the thumbpick in this video... I love the muted strumming and the harmonics towards the end. He's incredible.

That 240p though.
Antoine is no longer a shooting star, but one of the points of light that shines brightly in the constellation of acoustic guitar greats.
It says you wrote this comment 7 years ago. Time is a crazy concept.
@@leroyjenkins6109 14 years ago now!!! Still listen to this song every other day!
Beautiful.

Antoine Dufour is one of my favorite guitarists, what amazing skill
beautiful as always
amazing. I bought the album, heard the song, thought it sounded like there was more than one guitar playing so searched for the video, sure enough it was just him playing multiple line on his own.
Like so many of his songs. Reality and Paroxysm are my favorites and they both have the multi-instrument feel, and it's all him.

I wish that I had the same ability to express my emotiones through a guitar like that... wow.
I literally have watched this like 50 times.
Beautiful!
if i met a guy who could play like antoine dufour, i'd probably fall in love with him.
no joke.
when I think of a "MOTHER", I think of a human being who gave me life and brought me into a home with a father, a bed to sleep in, clothes to wear, food to eat, and all the love a human could ask for

Freaking awesome. Thank you for the excellency.
This is the song that inspired me the most from Antoine Dufour, I love the harmonics!.
Mr. Dufour needs more attention in my opinion.
This song is absolutely amazing, by far his best yet, 5 Stars all the way! The type of harmonic he is using is called pinch harmonics. When you hit the fret with your finger and produce a harmonic it's a slap harmonic.
