Because Giguere was simply a little bit better that year, even though his team ultimately didn't win? He went 15-6 with a 94.5 save percentage, compared to Brodeur with a 16-8 record and a 93.2 save percentage. Anaheim also won 4-0 in games against the defending Cup champions and President Trophy winners Red Wings in the first round, much thanks to his play. I thought the Ducks would be on top. I was hoping for that all the time back then. The worst year in my life, I think. The early 2000s look like the '90s a bit, which is the best decade in my life...I miss that epoch. The ubiquitous internet access has killed everything.
Do you have any idea what a joke the west was that year? Marty might have had 10 shutouts over there. As it was...he had 3 on the finals and the took it from him, and equally from Friesen who had 10 damn goals and 5 in the finals including a series winner in the semis.
Without Guegaire, those Ducks dont get to WCF, let alone game 7 of the Finals. Im a Colorado fan,& this was only 2 yrs after we beat you in game 7. But I was pulling hard for NJ in '03..& Guegerie to win Conn Smythe, cuz he definitely deserved it. Broduer is 1 of the All time greats-another Conn Smyth wouldnt matter that much for his legacy. But it means more to Gueguire-he wasnt an All time great. But that playoff run he was.
@@jasonsmith5226 How can Giguère deserve it but not Marty who had far better stats in the playoffs that year, and he won the series? Broduer never won the Conn Smythe, he was robbed.
He also had a much better supporting cast-NJ was a powerhouse. Anaheim was just an ordinary team, whos goalie stole games,& even series. I even heard Broduer say Guguire deserved it. Maybe he was just being classy. But thats the 1 time in my hockey watching life-started 1995-where I thought somebody on the losing team deserved it.Peter Forsberg in 2002 was the other time I thought it was possible.Missed the whole season, came back,& led the playoffs in scoring-despite the Avs not even making the Finals. But after the Avs lost 7-0 in game 7, (& 2-0 in game 6)-that ship sailed. But I dont remember too much controversy over Gugierre back then. But NHL fans from back then, know what Brodeur was all about. Other than Roy-theres no goalie in the last 25 yrs-Id take over Broduer. That includes Hasek,& Belfour-who made life miserable on my Avs.
Not to mention, with legal and normal sized goalie pads and not vs the soft ass west that year. Marty might have had 8 shutouts had we had JSG's road that year. The west was PATHETIC
That was a lack of reality for that commentator to say that. Our guy just got his 3rd shutout vs JSG's illegal ass pads and our other just got his 10th goal and 5th of the finals. Typical bettman
Arlette! She’s been with the Devils for a long time now. She sings the national anthem at most games and in 2000 and 2003 she did a lot of songs specifically recorded for the cup runs. This cover was one of those songs!

@ManalessDredge that doesn't change the fact that JS Giguere was 5× better than Brodeur, especially in the 03 playoffs
do you have game 6?
If I could ever get the opportunity I will look and see if I have it :-)
Мартин Бродо Великий вратарь 21 века
56:10 wake me up inside
I thought the Ducks would be on top.
I was hoping for that all the time back then. The worst year in my life, I think. The early 2000s look like the '90s a bit, which is the best decade in my life...I miss that epoch. The ubiquitous internet access has killed everything.
That’s pretty classless of NJ fans for booing Giguere. The man was unstoppable in the playoffs, so well deserved
Do you have any idea what a joke the west was that year? Marty might have had 10 shutouts over there. As it was...he had 3 on the finals and the took it from him, and equally from Friesen who had 10 damn goals and 5 in the finals including a series winner in the semis.
Marty had a better series and playoffs and more shutouts, and a shutout in game 7 and that bloated blimp got the Conn Smythe Trophy
Do you have Senators vs Devils game 4 of the 2003 Conference Finals?
I will try to check on this if I ever get the opportunity :-)
Devils clapping for giguere winning mvp showing more class than the fans that was a hard hit of honesty.
That was a lack of reality for that commentator to say that. Our guy just got his 3rd shutout vs JSG's illegal ass pads and our other just got his 10th goal and 5th of the finals. Typical bettman
ahh brothery love at 22:38
The celebration music was so cheesy throughout haha bon jovi and Star Wars
it’s almost like bon jovi is a new jersey icon. this comment was way more corny
who was singing We Are The Champions?
Arlette! She’s been with the Devils for a long time now. She sings the national anthem at most games and in 2000 and 2003 she did a lot of songs specifically recorded for the cup runs. This cover was one of those songs!
Rob and Scott Neidermeyer would win the cup together with the Ducks in 07.
Jeff Friesen I always like him :P he always love to do empty goals :P
Sergei Brylin skated the blades off his skates.
Meanwhile, their Nets counterpart almost had the 2003 Championship as well.
Too bad the Spurs were too strong and the Nets blew it in game 6.
I was born like a month before this
I don't really remember if I ever watch anything at all cause I'm starting too loose my memories
Whats the song they play when they win
It's my life. By bon Jovi
May I would of giving anything in the world too see this series
Never seen any playoff games from this year of the cup finals or the entire. Year
"Hockey immortality is on the line tonight.." Nah, look at the Devils today. Lmao.
Why are they playing Star Wars music during the cup raise, that is insane 😂😂
If only the nets won the finals we would have had the devil and nets win in the same year oh well
Fun fact: last time when home team wore white and road time went colored.
Devils fans booing Giguere, really?
You needed to be there and understand the franchises history with Bettman, and to rip into our celebration by not giving the HOF goalie his due
Pretty low class to boo at Giguere for winning the Conn Smythe, he deserved it more than anyone.
Man i miss the ice
The year i was born lol
I can't believe I've never watched this

Biggest travesty was Marty not getting the Conn Smythe. I remember being so pissed when Geiguerre won it. Marty had 3 shutouts in the finals. That alone should’ve won him that crown.
Man I'm really disappointed that the DUCK'S are playing not hungry enough too beat the DEVILS in a seven game series Devils where playing too stronger 😢
