God’s nature and character cannot be changed. Often we take Numbers 23:19, “God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?” (And other verses like it) As God doesn’t or can’t change His mind. God’s unchanging nature doesn’t contradict His actions when He relents or adjust actions based on human repentance or the intercession of another. Which was displayed in Jonah 3:10 and Exodus 32:14. For example, if God declares judgment but people repent, His “relenting” is not a change in His character but an expression of His mercy, which is always part of His unchanging nature.
