In my opinion the best place to build is either in the shelves or in a corner, because if you build your base in a corner, you won't need that many materials for walls, and it's pretty easy to secure
Personally, I like pillar bases since most scored will not get in. As for ground bases, scps can still manage to get inside your base and kill you to death. So I think pillar bases are more efficient. As for players getting in, that’s the problem you have to handle.

No, with permission it doesn’t count as greifing. Greifing is the act of purposefully destroying an inhabited base. I consider bases that are uninhabited to be fair game. I usually keep watch of the base/maybe stay in it for a few nights (if it’s safe) to see if it’s inhabited. Usually works, if not then give the supplies back in compensation
Here is my opinion: I think they could be good for building around them but raiders are most likely to raid them and employees can climb most of them. Also if you accidentally fall you will immediately die from fall damage(unless it’s short) but overall there ok

I made a sky base based of pillar, and extended it as high and trying to connect with the pallet zone which was 600 studs away with my friend xD, it was worth the fun.. ;) the height was high enough to one shot anyone owo

what i usually do is get a few ladders, stack them up, make a floor, put a table against the ladder, make walls and roof, and adjust the table so that you have to crouch in order to sneak past it and get in. never failed me.

It took a long time and I made it in public and some 4 random people came in and wanted to stay in. I let them stay but then it got annoying and they moved a lot of stuff. To the point they griefed it. I wouldn’t usually cry about it but I just started crying cause seeing that hard work going to waste is just, hard for me to process..

I trapped a employee in one of my skinnier pillar bases a great tip is to make the entrance a tight squeeze parkour thing and no employees will get in. Unfortunately it didn’t stop little Timmy from stealing my walls
tip to not let players get in :D (not 100percent gurantee but it worked for me mostly) so add a couch to get up (L couch) and place palletes o the pillar but make sure they cant take even the first pallete from the main floor then make ur base at that level or higher using more palletes and when you dont want anyone to get up remove the couch and place it on the closest pallete or wherever thats higher and bring it back down whenever (it also dodges employees but if you wanna be safe also add a slit entrance and cover the celing throughly)
i actually made a luxury pillar base i was working on the 3rd floor more and more people decided to help giving me furnitures some get food and others help then we set up a whole civilization around the pillar making giant walls and village houses and nobody is even griefing it lol
I always made pillar bases and I love to make huge bridges to other pillars with the goal of reaching every pillar, even tho that may be impossible. It is extremely fun tho

Tip if you don't want to remove or cover the ladder just make a very very tight space try to test it the way to test it is by looking left and right really fast and if u go through you don't gotta move it anyone ppl could just do that and scp's can't go up!

I always made pillar bases when the pillars had signs on them so I could tell my friends specifically where I was in the store
