This is great! 👍🏼 I have a few more questions. Are there any acrylic plates specifically designed for sublimation? The products I have looked at only mention that they are made of acrylic material. Should they be coated with polyester? If there are suitable acrylic plates, where can I find them? Alternatively, how can we print images on acrylic materials that are not suitable for sublimation? Thanks in advance.
Hi Jose, I just got in the digi coat spray for sublimation. I believe its the same layer coating that they apply on the aluminum sheet you got there. I'm gonna apply the the spray on the bottle openers i have so i can sublimate a photo on to it. Will keep you posted. Plus i been rearranging my Computer room to place my new toys...lol. I ordered the white and clear glossy in 32 ounce bottles. I will apply it to so called subway ceramic tiles which are about 4x8". They will be perfect landscapes, as.well as wedding party group shots. It should be about 3-4 days till it arrives. I will be trying my air brush but I don't know if it will be to viscous. I might have to use a hand spray bottle of a wide camel hair brush. Let me see your results in the FB Group!
Hi Jose, I don't know if you'll see this, but i was wondering if these sublimation machines would be ok to transfer onto an aluminum enclosure, used in small electronics (basically an aluminum box, that are typically about 1.5 inches tall and just a few inches width x length). It would barely use any of the heating surface, which is why I'm wondering if that's ok or if the surface of the heatingheating plate needs to come down all the way and cover most of the area it presses. Thanks!
Great demo, many thanks! You explained it so well, Jose. I know nothing about sublimation but would love to make a few photo prints for my house. Hi Jose, thanks for all your great work for us photo printers. I currently sell my photos printed on a Canon Pro 10, with edits using LR & PS. The Sawgrass has very expensive ink, but is the Epson F170 have enough resolution to make a good print on 8.5x11. Sawgrass has more resolution but cost more on several levels. Wow, thanks for the info. I am not sure if you mentioned but how is the image printed on? what kind of paper is used? Thanks in advance for the update.
You use a sublimation printer with sublimation inks onto sublimation transfer and then heat transferred using a heat press to aluminum coated with special polyester sublimation coating. The key word here is sublimation.
Amazing, love your work, god bless you for teachings us, you’re doing gods work!!! I’m debating planning on buying an old dry heat press off of Craigslist, there’s some 350’s around for cheap but I think half of my use would be sublimating my photos on to aluminum. Will the process work if the max temp only goes up to 350 degrees? Here’s hoping!!
Nothing special other than you need an EPSON printer loaded with refillable carts loaded with suimation inks. Driver setting are presentation matte at high quality and you let the driver control color. You also have to either manually mirror the image or set the driver to do it. Remember that you will sandwich the transfer print face to face onto the substrate. Thus the need to mirror the image.
Yes. It is a special type that of paper only to be used with sublimation inks. You mirror the image and then transfer it to the polyester fabric of polyester coated hard substrate with a heat press. Not an iron.

On an industrial best press there should be difference. On a small consumer press you would press for a longer time as the aluminum plates become larger or thicker. But temp stays the same. You need to experiment.

I have a questions for you Jose. My printer is 11x17 and I want to print on an 11x17 metal sheet. Have you done this without a bleed to see if it will cover all edges if everything is lined up perfectly?
If you are able to feed through a straight feed I don't see why not. But you don't say what printer mode you are describing so i can't begin to comment.
@@cheo1949 Well, I suppose the questions is irrelevant at this point as I just purchased a WF-7720 instead with a CISS kit. I do have another question though. I did purchase some teflon paper but was wondering what is the protective paper you use and where did you get it?
@@cheo1949 Going to start printing and pressing soon. Have all the equipment. I have opted for refillable cartidges vs ciss as I wont be printing everyday. I am excited that I will be able to press 11x17 aluminum with my heat press that is 13x18. I was just curious if that protective paper underneath the teflon paper is anything special or just regular paper, thanks.
thanks, fo the video I was wondering if you know how to glue the photo paper to the aluminium panel I have a big photo and I like to just glue it at home and then cover it with resin but don't know what kind of glue I should use or work on that.
If you mean epoxy I would just use a good strong spray adhesive. Not the kind that you can reposition.
Where can i get alluminium plates
Are you use painted aluminium? Where can i bought this material?
Painted? No. Coated. Just search for sublimation aluminum. Amazon has it from several sellers.
What kind of printer do you use for this?
