Grazie for your insights on Men's Style from an Italian🇮🇹 perspective. I think to myself most times🤔, that if a Man looks his best when He's well dressed👞👔🕶 then why don't most men make an effort to Dress their best or want to be at their best everyday? I wonder what happened to Men's taste levels lately! Probably mostly because "Casual Friday's" got out of hand, literally👕👟! Style goes beyond Fashion and True Style never goes out of Fashion! Just Food🍝🍽🍷 for thought!💡Ciao!🇮🇹👍

Excellent, excellent video. It IS about respect for self and others. I so wish this understanding was the norm here in the US. Unfortunately, I live in an area where many people wear pajamas pants and bedroom slippers to Walmart. Seriously, I'm not joking or exaggerating. It's deplorable. Needless to say, I avoid Walmart at all costs 😅.

I have the impression that it is exactly the opposite in Germany. Here many seem to think it is good to be only as elegant, friendly and affectionate as their worst role model. If you dress well according to your own taste, you will be seen as a danger and attacked immediately.

I know this about Germany, but believe me it doesn’t happen only there. Self expression is always somehow considered dangerous and we could list a lot of reasons that stays behind it. Here let me focus on one only: showing the best version of yourself can touch the sensibility of those who see in your confidence the underline of their mediocrity. If your intentions are genuine, keep doing: they have a problem with themselves, not with you ;)

Is La Bella Figura the same concept as what Baldasar Castglione calls "Grace" in the English translation of The Courtier?

He's right -- whenever I see a well-dressed Italian, I think, " He's trying to sell me something." And then I walk the other way. First impressions are important.

You sound a little condescending when you insist on what all humans do by instinct, but overall this is a very interesting video.
(It's also a bit faulty. Not the judging part, you are correct that HAS been scientifically proven.
But the part about wanting people to like you, caring what they think... that is faulty.
I care about how I look, I care about what impression I choose to make... but that impression is not necessarily a 'good' impression.
I spent a good year or so dressed like the Joker (right down to the green hair) because I was a bit obsessed with him back then. And I quite enjoyed the various reactions from people, some good, some bad.
I also enjoy pissing people off or making them uncomfortable. And I have no real desire to be liked in general.
It's useful, of course. And some specific people I prefer to like me. But not just anyone.
I also don't care what they THINK about me. I care about what impression I give off.
If they think it's good, if they think it's bad, if they think I should be burned on the stake... I don't care.
Although I'd prefer to avoid unpleasant situations, obviously. But if they keep their thoughts in their head, it matters not one whit to me what they think.
I also know people who's worn the same clothes for over 50 years --holes and all-- because they just don't care.
And it's not any depression, because they're some of the happiest people I know.
But I do believe the majority DO care. Humans are social animals after all. And very many are insecure, highly social, or just feel a need to impress their 'pack'.
But there is a big difference between saying 'most people' and 'everyone without exception'.
Just something to be aware of.)

Yes but obviously nobody can speak for everyone. That’s an impossibility. So it’s implied that he’s not talking about literally everyone. I think anybody with common sense would know that…
