I have used this video literally 20 times because I have memory problems and my remote always seems to go "offline" or whatever it does- and just stops connecting to my tv. And this is the ONLY tutorial that is plain and simple enough for me to follow and it works every time like a charm! So thank you thank you thank you for posting this for those people like me who need something straight to the point and easy to follow! You are very appreciated!
i think if your remote disconnects all you have to do is press TV button at the top and it will connect to it automatically. you don't have to reprogram the remote.
Success !! Thank you for posting this !! Found one of these remotes in the trash and put 2 new batteries in it but needed to program it this video did the Trick THANKS AGAIN FOR POSTING !:) Good job !!
Thank you so much can I just add you can see the TV light flickering when it is searching through thats how I knew I was on the right track very grateful
The only suggestion is to position the remote within a couple of feet of the Vizio IR sensor and try again. If you don't get the TV to power off, then the remote will most likely not work with your TV... It's most likely your TV is too advanced or uses a different IR pattern for power off. Another possibility is your remote is not working. I'm assuming you have the Jumbo Remote paired with another device. If it can control other devices, than it's most likely incompatible with your Vizio TV. If you don't have the remote paired with another device, try pairing it to a DVD player to confirm the remote works.
There is no "code search button". To activate the code search feature, you'll need to hold down one of the following buttons: DTC, TV, VCR, DVD, or SAT. The LED light (near the QuantumFx logo) will remain on to indicate you are in code search.
I dumped the manual on the same day I received the remote. Here's a quick writeup (eyedtentea.com/?p=67): 1. Turn on the device you want to control (eg: the TV, DVD, VCR, etc.) 2. Point the QuantumFx remote to the device, and press and hold the designated device button on the remote (either: DTC, TV, VCR, DVD, or SAT) hold down the button until the LED light remains on 3. Press the “Power” button to begin the auto code search 4. When the device (from step 1) turns off, press the “Enter” button on the QuantumFx remote
eyeDtenTea Thanks!!! This is what 'we' want to know, not all the other crap!!! I have an old 'Jumbo Emerson' and I need to get it to work for someone in Hosp. that can't see well w/little buttons remote...I put fresh batts. in...it should work. Good post!!!
eyeDtenTea Well...it didn't work. I don't think the programming in the remote can 'read' the input from the signal going to the television itself. Too bad. Makes me wonder 'how' the remote would adapt itself to anything else though...how can it 'read' one but not the other?
I don't think the remote "reads" any signal; the remote only transmits. Also, the TV only receives the IR signal sent from the remote. In other words, it doesn't send any signal to the remote; it waits for a signal sent from the remote. From my understanding, when using the auto code search feature, the remote will cycle through all the programmed codes (built in to it) and send it out individually. That's why, when you see the unit (in your case, the TV) shut off, you need to press the "enter" button to stop the code search and to retain the current code the remote is on. It's unfortunate that it didn't work, I would suggest trying again, but place the remote closer to the IR sensor of the TV (about 2 feet). Make sure to power on the TV and go through the process stated in the video/blog. Please check the model of the remote. When I was googling for "Jumbo Universal Remote", there were different versions (probably due to different vendors). Verify that your jumbo remote is marked "REM-115". If the markings are missing, check the placement of the buttons. Please note, there are some jumbo remotes that look the same... that is to say, all the buttons line up the same, but the buttons that are labeled are different. If you buttons don't match, than this tutorial probably will not work.
Hmm... The remote should be pointed at the IR sensor of the unit you want to control. You will also need to depress and release the power button to cycle through each code that is programmed into the remote. If you did this and it fails to turn off the device, then the remote cannot operate the device.

I think at the very least, only the basic functions, like play, pause, stop, skip/forward, backward, etc.
Would that work for all the sources
Don't know... I'm guessing so.
eyeDtenTea ok
