THIS explanation goes so well with the whole style of the show. The writers like to make the audience think one thing, then reveal that the scenario was totally different. The only part that makes me doubt this is that Río literally could have died, I mean three bullets isn't nothing. He has a child too... So even though it's hella romantic for him to sacrifice himself this way, it's kind of unbelievable. There are many clues that point to this being a stunt, yes, but again, the chances of him dying would be really high. Unless... When he says "Do it like we practiced", he means they actually practised exactly the spots she needs to target not to cause fatal injuries.

I think they both planned this...Just think about it when he smiles and says "you got this" and when he tells her to "do it like we practised." They needed Tanner to believe she wanted out and for it to seem like she was a victim, they needed to get him off their backs and somehow this was part of their plan. Also her face when she shoots him, she is terrified yet she knows what she has to do. The way Rio was acting towards her was also different, he was being meaner towards her. This was all part of their plan I am sure of it.
I still say Turner is a bad agent. He stumbled upon Rio and Beth and gang, and he is manipulating all of them. Heck, for all we know, Rio might be an agent out to get Turner imprisoned for his crimes. I think we need to look deeper into Turner ....
It's a challenge for me to watch this without tearing up, I swear! I know it's just a tv show, but I committed myself into this ship like crazy and now it feels like someone stabbed me, lol. The final was heartbreaking, but I feel like we can't fully judge it just yet, cause the story has sooo much potential now depending on what writers will do. I really hope that Beth will finally get a wake up call realizing what she's done and what kind of person she's becoming, cause I'm so mad at her right now! And Rio is still my fav character, no matter how inse this man is haha
Also when beth asked rio if that's all she was to him,was business,and he said yeah,the look on his face said otherwise.That she is more than just business to him.He looked like he was really trying to hold his tongue because he dont want to push her away,he wants her to come to him at her own pace.He legitimately seems to want to be in a relationship with her that's more than just business.Anytime she has said she was done with him,he always looked so upset.But it was like in a respectful way,meaning that he respects her decision even though he may not be happy with it.

I understand that people are all in there feelings about what happened to Rio, don't get me wrong I still have mixed ferlings about it as-well.But,Beth had always been in denial about who she really is,and not being truthful with the fact the she's 'dark'.Rio represents that darkness and edge that she's drawn to,She hated the fact that she was so emotionally drawn to Rio, because in her mind "he makes her do bad things" but in reality she wanted to be apart of that life,and she chose that life all on her own.She shot Rio because she felt like he was her problem,when in reality she got scared,and she wasn't ready for that,so she turned on him. She hasn't fully grasped what she's done, but when that detective starts demanding things of her, that she doesn't want to do,that's when she is going to miss Rio the most,and she's going to realize that Rio was right about Turner...did you guys notice that Rio called detective Turner 'Boss', this was right before Beth shot him.The talk is that detective Turner is 'King' and Rio wanted to take him down,to take his spot,but his plan backfired. That's my two cents. I can't wait for season 3.

I understand that Rio is supposed to be bad guy in this series but he did more good than those other scumbags who like you say they seem to be forgiven. Rio didn't put Beth in those crazy situations. He would always tell her how to fix it but she would never listen. She really always felt she was better than him even though she was doing the same things he was.
