Jeff Jones is easily one of the best deck builders in the games history. I mostly know him from back when I played in 2014ish, but he was the king of rogue!
Jeff jones is legendary in the community. Hated him because he tops with some obscure cards would spike them to 100s of dollars in the early days
This is one of very few channels that do this type of content with legendary players. 10K soon!!!
Thank u for all of the support:)
12:20 u can tell jeff jones is OG, he still uses old skool lingo
Respect 🫡. Because I prefer the older slang, 90’s baby represent.
OMG DO PEOPLE NOT SAY ON THE DOWN LOW ANYMORE?! AM IN THAT OLD
Honestly the "check on twitter" thing alone warrants him a praise. I seriously never thought about that. This was extremely informative, good stuff fr
Thanks!:)
Very cool. Your questions were very engaging and prompted Jeff to share his own opinions on the varied topics (past formats, deckbuilding, metagaming, etc).
This was well organized and prepared, including the selected images, the whole interview flowed smoothly.
Very happy to hear that, thanks!:)
I started the same way as him. It’s amazing how a few small events in life change destiny. The nostalgia of going to the card shop for those two starter decks was unmatched. ❤
I didn't even know that Jeff Jones was still in the scene, hearing him talk about the game from his perspective was great as well as finding out about the podcast. Thanks for making his happen!
So glad u guys like it!:)
Amazing how you get Jeff on here.
He's one of my favorite players.
I am fortunate enough to say I am one of those five percenters that have been playing a game since it came out I never once took a break.
I had the privilege of learning how to play from Roy St Clair. 💯
When I was young, I walked away from the hobby right after Cybernetic Revolution. I remember pulling a Jinzo and an Imperial Order from many dozens of blister packs and I bought a single booster box of CRV before calling it quits. Then, in December I bought a display box of Mavens which later lead me to deciding to try getting into playing the card game for the first time.
For me, copying deck lists is how I'm learning what works and how they work. This month (March) will be the 1st time I go to a local card shop to play with other players, and while I don't expect to win a single game, I'm going into it as a learning experience. Maybe in a couple months I'll be able to start taking some wins.
Despite all of this, I'm trying to take what cards I have and theory craft them into the couple of decks that I currently have. I'm trying to limit singles buying to what my local shops have while trying to also pull as many cards myself as possible right now. I feel that having these limitations helps me better learn the cards I have while inspiring creativity.
Sounds like u have a plan, hope u have a great time returning to the game!:)
I'm not a tourney player, so hearing you two explain why a 4 deck meta is considered a good amount of diversity, and the problems with too many viable decks was very enlightening for me.
This best format we had it's bunch decks being played now
This was real fun, looking forward to Mr. Jones' next appearance :p
I started playing competitive in 2010-11and this is when I learned about Jeff Jones and started playing rogue decks. Jeff jones imo the best yugioh player overall. This format I'm playing Invoked Shaddoll and after taking a break from 2015-2020 due to the formats and personal life I decided to just take a break and hope the game was at a stage where rogue players can start playing again and here we are. Returning to in person tourneys again is very nerve wrecking but the more and more a returning player goes to tourneys it gets better. Absolutely loved this video and hope to see more!!❤
Hope u have a great time returning to the game, appreciate the kind comment!:)
@@shadowrabbitygo Thank you!! It's been a great return. Met new friends, on a team now, everything yall talked about pertaining to yugioh being for the players is 1000% true. I hope to meet yall or talk to yall in person someday.
Thank you so much for this conversation! Truly loved it, really appreciate your grind keep up the good work 💙💚
Thank you, will do!:)
I think the way to go about this format is playing decks that in-engine do not struggle to push past a drident macro cosmos with 5 backrow but teching the cards to destroy the full 5 zone lock , which sounds way more simple than it actually is, the format is far from solved yet
Jeff Jones himself? Somebody is reaching out.. Congratulations 💯
Appreciate it!:)
Omg new jeff jones content, where the hell have you been sir! ❤❤❤❤
This was a cool video. Good to see all your colab vids. I still think the Psychic Gandsoil deck was one of the most unique builds cos I used to love the old Earth Psychics back in the day.
Literally one of the greatest to ever play this game
Yoooo can’t wait to watch this
Oh my son Jeff Jones!!!!! Only reason I saw this video. This guy is my favorite player!!!!
Awesome talk. Thanks to both of you for this one!
Glad you enjoyed it!:)
I like jeff jones in the shaddoll/BA/ Qliphort format. Its nice player i want to see it again now
Ive been playing since inception, I played during Edison and I love it. I enjoy modern Yugioh, but hate it at the same time. Edison and 2011 formats are so great.
By the way that Psychic Grandsoil deck way so fun. I played that deck for a while after Jeff profiled it.
i think the last really innovative deck was the rose dragon adventure magician souls tenyi sword soul piles. love those 60 card piles. i think a thunder dragon branded bystial topped recently too. (commenting on around 10:30 where he talks about decks building themselves)
Love the commentary videos, guests just make them better
Amazing topic and guest! I definitely struggle a lot with deckbuilding so this video will be soooo helpful.
Glad it was helpful!:)
I'm also from the OG group like GOAT on, with some breaks of 2-3+ years in there.
I will start with a basic deck list form somebody else, and look at like 5 or 6 related decks. then I will figure out my own amalgamation. I've made a few disaster/chaos dragon decks, eldlich variants, zombie variants, and branded variants that have all had tops. Now not every deck was great, but they were all fun to figure out.
Awesome stuff! Loved to hear his thoughts on Edison format.
Jeff Jones damn
My mans is such a great community figure frfr
Jeff jones is the goat of yu gi oh
Jeff Jones is a real legend!
The one and only, the greatest..
ayyyy!!! I also follow some Japanese yugitubers for the same reason! for inspiration!
My favorite player of all time holy shit
Speaking of looking at a card and thinking of new ways to use them, De-Synchro. I get that it isn't quick effect speed, and you have other hand traps to worry about (which you can vet out with the correct deck), but if you can De-Syncro a Baronne and resummon her, you can basically reset the quick play omni-negate. The only reason why I feel that De-Synchro would be a consideration over Baronnes' effect is that you can actually get all your material back instead of just one. Say you put Baronne out for your 5th summon and you get hit with Nibiru. Now that you know you can't get hit with Nibiru a 2nd time that turn, if you happen to have the card in hand, you can use the card to get your omni-negate back.
Sounds interesting but almost a waste of a tech spot tbh
Very offended of the fact the video title isn't: "Yu-Gi-Oh! Secrets To Improve Your Deck Building! (Feat. JESUS CHRIST)"
Lmaoo
Love ur content btw good job
Decks in Edison Format look pretty crazy. Lots of diversity
21:48 you can end the cat and mouse game of kaiju or golem with mask of restrict. I know iblee prevents either already but mask is an option too.
Zombie World
This was a good video!
Thank you!:)
Watching this dude money match that guy back in the day still makes me laugh 😂😂 Kevin was the dudes name dragon ruler 🔥
I agree with him on his views
Jeff Jones!!!! The best
Hey just came across your stuff today, this is some really helpful content to not only newbs but even players who have been in the game for a while. But I will say it sounds like you need a new microphone or need to fix your EQ settings lol.
Goated content
🐰🐰
I LOVE YOU JEFF
More content like this please
That one time LS was the best and he sided metal reflect slime... Auto win with skill drain. Genius. Remember that? How about QuickDraw dandy? How about the real diva zombie deck? There's so many more but those are my favorites.
Skill Drain plants with defenders was Odee too. Jeff really had the deck building throne all to himself at one point. Earth Psychics with The Earth Elemental Lord? His and Billy’s Trigon Debris Dragon Rulers list with ancient fairy was really shit ahead of its time.
The real gr8st of all time
Jeff Jones is a legend
is that young forsen at 1:20? :D
I’m proud the comments aren’t shooting their shot at girl host 😂
Jeff gotta hit up e3 yugioh
This guy is so nice
JEFF
Egyptian god sacred beast 60 card deck. Guess my strategy with four cards: morph king stygi gel mad hacker astral kuriboh keeper of dragon magic
keep it up
Thanks, will do!:)
I started from the start also …damn I could have been a contender
Classic
a tip for you: divide your videos into chapters. that way ppl can go to the sections they are most interested in.
The Tier O vs 2-4 Deck vs rainbow of decks formats I think the idea of what of healthy differs from a game design vs a player experience outlook. To me Tier0 is unhealthy for both a game design and player experience format. a 2-4 Top decks seems most healthy for a player experience outlook bc makes deck building for meta and anti meta is most balanced where you have a defined tier list of competitive viability. BUT imo having a wide variety of competitively viable decks with less definition between top tier and rogue means from a game design outlook you have the most healthy and balanced game, though from player experience its almost worst than teir 0 bc you cant prepare for all the deck options.
Hm I actually agree with most of the comment and appreciate such a long explanation!:) However, I’d say a tier 0 format is a lot of times great from a player experience perspective and the Tear tier 0 format was a great example of that. Of course it wasn’t everyone’s opinion but the competitive side of things is being played by meta players and some of them enjoy those types of formats and sometimes that’s the majority. But looking at it overall I get why it can be unpleasant for a lot of people.
Jeff Jones borrowed an overworked from me at the Tinley park regional in fire fist format and never gave it back. :-( scammed.
PM me your info and I'll send you one back+ interest :)
Nah nah nah! It's my pleasure! :-) your video taught me zoodiac fusion sub combo and got me one of my regional tops. I only lost to thunderpants that day. I just like bringing up that Jeff Jones got me for an overworked! Now, when I tell the story, I can say you hit me back like 8 years later. 🤣🤣
Who is this beautiful elf
On one hand I think smart yugioh players that choose to play control/trap decks is similar to if a smart person chose to play checkers instead of chess(they are wasting their mass of knowledge)
But at the same time, I also think less smart players should play combo because they don’t need to think too much, as long as they remember to do their 1 combo, they can win, and if they lose the dice roll or the opponent has handtraps or if they bricked, they also dont need to think at all, they lost
Hm not really since it takes skill to play those decks well and average players could never truly master them
How old is Jeff jones
