So sad to see a such forgotten ship who was named after one of the greatest ocean liners ever
It was fate
Technically she was named after a former Roman province, but your point still stands. 😢
@@randomuser9883it was tragedy

This is the Mauritania two being scrapped in 1966, it was not scrapped in 1935 the original was. People get you facts straight.
Sad to see that even though it's still mostly existed in the 60s, it's still got scrapped. Although it was seems like during the 60s The UK was destroying all many historical things and only keeping a few select few things.
Exactly , Things like the Locos that inspired Thomas the Tank Engine, AKA the London Brighton and South Coast Railway E2 class tank engines.
At first i thought that this was the Mauretania that was the sister ship to lusitania. But then I looked at the sides and the bridge and they look completely different from the Mauretania and looked more like the queen mary. Come to find out, this is actually the Mauretania 2. By the way if this was the original Mauretania, it would be pretty unlikely that it took 31 years just to take off 3 of the 4 funnels and the air vents.
Old ships like this shouldn't be scrapped. You can put them in a museum so we can see old ships
An electro magnet or a wrecker claw would be used to lift the pieces of metal nowadays
sHOULD NEVER HAVE SCRAPPED THIS.
Look how they massacred my girl.
The Mauritania went to the breakers in 1935, and fast forward to 1966 and all they seem to have removed are the funnels and the air intakes!? In 31 years!?!?!? LOL
A second ship with the name Mauretania was built in late 30s.
@@samanli-tw3id Yeah, the Mauretania II.
Are you a idiot? This is the second mauretania built in 1939 they don’t even look the same
Ryan Ward Look closely at the half cut funnel, it's smaller
@@florjanbrudar692 Maybe he was joking
It is to different ships.
It is the Mauritania II
