Music was way better during apartheid times. I sorely miss those times. Some would surely crucify me for fessing up to the fact that I miss those years. But this is my heart speaking.
THAT IS THE GREAT PJ POWERS DURING THE HEIGHT OF APARTHEID. SHE DEFIED APARTHEID AND PERFORMED IN BLACK TOWNSHIPS. WHAT A RESILIENT WHITE ARTIST. LOVE YOU THANDEKA FOREVER AND EVER❤
I remember going to Africa. It was in my 20’s, or back in the 70’s. I worked for GE back then. It feels like a fucking aeon ago yet everything is so vivid. From my house with too many windows, to the Zulu guy I hired who always woke me up with a bowl of fresh fruit in the morning. What a place it was. It’s a shame that it is a little different compared to what it should’ve been, yet I’ve no doubt Mandela’s efforts will pay off and Africa shall become brilliant once more. Yet, I fear that I won’t be alive to see such a beautiful day. I wish the entirety of Africa well. From Malawi to Mozambique to Zimbabwe to Botswana to South Africa.
All white group singing Zulu; this was one of my favorite South African Music groups in the 80s and 90s. I had five groups then, but this one topped my chart by this song. Johnny Clegg of Juluka and others were in my basket also; I still have a collection of their CDs.
Such a good observation. Love them all. Today it would sadly be seen as cultural appropriation but it’s not. These people did something during apartheid that white groups back then were oblivious of doing, singing black songs.
When life was easy, when christmas was christmas, whwn you could live with relatives peacefully and nobody gets tired of you, when toyota wiyh back cage was the common means of transport, when there was love among family members eating together dancing together, when you could go and havest in someone's withouth them being bothered ,good old days ended in early 2000s such a beautiful song
How I wish those who are still living golden oldies artists can come together & record even if it's 1 single for us. May those who passed away their souls rest in eternal peace
She used to thrill the crowds in Ellis Park in the 80s in those epic soccer finals and crowds would go wild and later named her "Thandeka".....Note made on 11/9/2024
This song reminds me of a program on metro fm back in 1998 presented by Ann lemaiyan. I was a bubbling teenager then. Now I'm an old man, how time flies.
@Dulce Wilcox I'm also in the Scottish Highlands, Inverness. While the world come to a standstill, life in China seems to be getting back to normal. I hope the communist regime did not deliberately spread this deadly disease.
