ॐ नमो भगवते वासुदेवाय हरी वासुदेवाय
ओम नामे भगवते वासुदेवाय यह एक प्रसिद्ध हिन्दू मंत्र है। यह मंत्र भगवान विष्णु और श्रीकृष्ण दोनों का मंत्र है। इसमें दो परंपराएं हैं-तांत्रिक और पुराणिक। तांत्रिक पंरपराये में ऋषि प्रजापति आते है और पुराणिक पंरपरा में ऋषि नारदा जी आते है। हालांकि, दोनों कहते हैं कि यह सर्वोच्च विष्णु मंत्र है। शारदा तिलक तन्त्रम कहते है कि ‘देवदर्शन महामंत्र् प्राधन वैष्णवगाम’ बारह वैष्णव मंत्रों में यह मत्रं प्रमुख हैं। इसी प्रकार ‘श्रीमद् भगवतम्’ के 12 अध्याय को इस मंत्र के 12 अक्षर के विस्तार के रूप में लिए गए है। इस मंत्र को मुक्ति का मंत्र कहा जाता है और मोक्ष प्राप्त करने के लिए एक आध्यात्मिक सूत्र के रूप में माना जाता है। यह मंत्र ‘श्रीमद् भगवतम्’ का प्रमुख मंत्र है इस मंत्र का वर्णन विष्णु पुराण में भी मिलता है।
Om NamoBhagavateVasudevaya' is a mantra of Bhagavan Sri Krishna. It means literally: ""Prostration to BhagavanVasudeva." 'Surrender to Sri Vasudeva' is implied therein. Now, the prostration, salutation, is an external symbol of the internal union. When we do namaskara to a deity in the temple, to a friend or any person, we join both the palms and bend ourselves low. This namaskara, and the joining of the palms are indicative of the feeling of¬ union of oneself with the other. "I and you are one" -- that is prostration, that is namaskara. "BhagavanVasudeva, I am one with you" is a spirit of surrender, and here begins meditation on BhagavanVasudeva. When this mantra is chanted you have also created the requisite atmosphere in the mind for contemplation on BhagavanVasudeva, to begin meditation and to feel His presence. This rule applies to all other mantras, also.
