    I just bought the 2024 390 duke over the 2023 model because it looked like a step up from the previous generation. With all the like parts on the 125 duke, I have to think it is tops in its class. Glad I live in the USA. We are lawless over here. Didn’t 0:29 know how to ride, took a weekend class and they sold me a 1999 triumph speed triple 950cc. 😂 Boy you learn to be a safe rider real quick on that…… or you don’t!

    If its still in the break in period its restricted by rpm. Once the 621 miles is done. They do oil change and do a software update. Itll then go to 12,000rpm

    • @Fagolore
      @Fagolore 7 місяців тому

      incorrect, they do the full 12k rpm from new and theres no "run in" remap.

      No this is a myth there is no software update. The automatic rev indicator is lifted to 10500 rpm but no restrictions. It's to do with the petroleum running in oil is so thin the piston rings have blow by loses compression once first service regular 10w50 oil is applied and the piston seals better so you have better compression = better torque.

      exactly wtf. is the front fairing also different? cause this looks exactly like the 250 dukes fairing.
      i think this abroad version of the 125 is literally the 390 duke, with a 125 cc engine

    • @sidharthkm5030
      @sidharthkm5030 8 місяців тому +13

      @@dris_jaes In India we pay around 2,00,000rs for it but in the UK they pay around 4900 euros which is roughly 4,40,000rs. They get what they pay for imo.
      Edit: if they put in the TFT with the higher componentry it would probably cost 2,50,000 in India which doesn't make sense for a 125cc in India, at that point they'd just go for the new R15 or MT15, the Gixxer 250 or the ktm 200 duke

    The bike in the video has only done 300 miles. So unless it's had its oil changed it will be running petroleum based running in oil that is very thin to help piston rings seal. I'm sure when the run in period has been completed and 10w50 oil is applied it will have a better performance. I have a Husqvarna Vitpilen 125 same engine and im running in at the moment it can do 53mph in 4th but only 60 in 6th.

    If you look at this bikes dimensions you would think it was a 300cc or above but it performs like many 12hp+ bikes on the market, for comparison my 12HP naked bike has reached 79mph but it is only 110kg, maybe KTM should have focused on weight reduction performance rather than hyper style.

    I'm looking at purchasing the Svartpilen 125 brother of this one (essentially the same bike with different styling). I couldn't find any videos on it so this was informative. The quickshifter feature is interesting as a beginner, makes getting the most out the engine easier I guess. Are there even any other 125s with a quickshifter? It's kind of crazy how many features it gets, it basically gets all the stuff from the bigger bike, just with a smaller engine.

    • @BigBoyzToyz1974

      The quicksilver on the Husqvarna is standard unlike the ktm. I have the 2024 vitpilen 125 and it has all the functions of the ktm just a little better. Husqvarna Vitpilen has Michelin Power 6 tyres the ktm has only road 5 etc

    • @Bordpie
      @Bordpie 2 місяці тому +1

      @@xMel21x I've done over 1500 miles so far and it''s going well. Once it's broken in it pulls a bit better, but generally you need to keep the RPM above 5500 to get decent power from it.
      For me the improvement after the first service was being able to rev it higher, as keeping it below the recommended rpm (6000 iirc) limits the power and torque a fair bit. That and the psycological improvement of being able to run the engine rpm as you like; the engine itself doesn't change much after the first service.
      I don't have experience on other 125s but from my general reading, the engines on other bikes like the Yamaha MT125 are better (although it is more expensive) as it has better low down torque, so accelerates faster and is more forgiving with your gear choices. The caveat being that I think I have learned better overall bike control on this bike, to get the most out of the engine. In some way this has probably improved my general skill more. Riding the 600cc bikes at my full licence training becomes much easier.
      It's not worth thinking too much about the engine on 125s imo, as I will be getting a bigger bike later anyway, which will be more powerful than any 125. It pulls up steep hills fine (over 30mph) and I think would get to 70mph no problem on the flat (CBT license limits you to 60mph technically). In some ways the more tepid engine makes learning easier (along with stuff like self cancelling indicators), then you learn to get more power out of it later. I've been getting about 100mpg average out of the bike. You can get higher if riding tepidly, like I did to begin with.
      I don't use the quickshifter much as I am currently training for my full bike licence, so I use it fully manual. Seems to work just fine when I do use it.
      The only Issue I encountered so far was water getting into the indicator switch (it has a rubber seal around the electronics so I don't know how) after it was left out in heavy rain for a couple of days. Although it was a faff to get to, I managed to open the unit and clean the corroded electrical contacts. I could have got it fixed under warranty but I use it to commute every day and wanted to use it immediately (without doing hand signals lol). Also a bolt was loose on the pillion peg arm (which I only don't use) but otherwise I have had no issues.
      The only other caveat is that the official parts for the bike are quite expensive. I was looking at the heated grips coming into autumn/winter, and they cost over £200. 3rd party ones are like £50-80 (although the official ones are better integrated, you can control them through the motorbike itself), but I heard a guy tried to get some fitted on his KTM duke 125, and they wouldn't fit the non-official ones due to 'warranty issues'. A lot of the stuff is made/assembled in Austria though so it's generally good quality.
      The tech features on the bike are impressive, and I haven't used everything yet as I don't have a helmet audio headset. You can control music, take/make phone calls, and control the phone app through the motorbike nav controls which is pretty cool. It has turn by turn navigation for free through the Husqvarna app (It can be made to avoid motorways which is handy), although there is a paid version with extra features. There is also the Husqvarna 'Mobility Service' which is basically free breakdown cover that comes with the bike, as long as it is serviced at official Husqvarna dealerships. Another handy feature is customising the TFT display with 'Favourites'. I have it show my MPG average, remaining range, battery voltage (handy to know if it's low), and a thing called 'Connectivity' that shows connection to your phone, including the phone signal strength and battery level which is nifty. I think it can also show connectivity to a helmet radio.
      For the price it's definitely hard to beat the tech features. Overall it sacrifices on the engine a little, but you gain a lot more features than other bikes. I don't think I will be keeping it for the long term though. Part of me is a little concerned about repair costs when the warranty runs out. I'd like to do as much servicing myself as possible, so I'm looking at a simpler bike for my next one (and I want a bigger bike lol).

    i want this realase in South East Asian, i will buy it... in here KTM still selling Duke 200 & 250cc but old model so the Speedometer is Small Digital & the screen is yellow and the price for Duke200 is almost same with MT-25 & Duke250 is higher than Ninja250cc (MT25 & Ninja250 make more power than Duke)

    Which did you prefer, the Honda CB125R or the Duke 125?

      Both are great, I think I found the KTM a little more fun and comfortable though.

    Look manacing but has the same speed as my scooter which has 125cc 😅

      125cc scooters aren't fast at all. Let's not forget. This is still in break in period so the rpm is restricted to 8000rpm once the first service is done. It then goes to 12,000rpm. Your scooter won't touch this😂

    Brakes r from by brembo not bybre

      Incorrect, you can literally see the Bybre logo on the calipers. Although, Bybre is an arm of Brembo. They make the brakes for the smaller capacity bikes.

    Man the UA-cam compression just destroys this video.
    Even at 1440p@60fps its full of distortions and artifacts.

      Yes, been noticing that too lately. I upload at 65mbit, still getting artifacts. But its better with fast shutter, I believe, so I switched to 1/240 from 1/60.
